Magical, perfect wedding Millcreek Inn was the perfect venue for our daughter’s wedding in June 2016. It’s a quaint looking old building that used to be a one of our favorite restaurants, but now is used only for events. But the food is still excellent. The facilities are perfect for an outdoor wedding. The arbor and raised platform made for a lovely altar. There is a pretty slate path leading to the altar, and it is bracketed by two archways, which frame the wedding party beautifully as they walk. The setting is nestled in the trees, looking up the canyons and peaks of our beautiful Wasatch mountains. It’s also very conveniently located. Only 15 minutes from downtown, or from Cottonwood Heights where many of our guests stayed. We had a place for our live music, and another area for the dj, plus a small, but darling dance floor. Many lights are included in the price, though we had the DJ put some extras in for effect. We had room for about 130 guests outside, and the overflow went indoors. The only problem with that, was, though the temperature was lovely outside, it was stuffy and hot indoors. This also made the wedding party overheated while preparing, though there was a swamp cooler, but only in the bride’s room, and it wasn’t enough for all those people, including 12 attendants. The main thing was that our guests, the wedding party, and both families were amazed at how magical and perfect the wedding was, and how beautiful the venue. June was perfect in Millcreek Canyon, and the Inn beautifully decorated in it’s natural foliage, with Millcreek Inn doing a fabulous job with the plants and numerous flowers. We didn’t need many added decorations or flowers. The wedding started at 5:30, when there was not much direct sunlight on the deck. The temperature was perfect. The lighting for pictures before the wedding was also ideal, and the cocktail hour and dinner were very comfortable with plenty of light. As the sun went down, the lights came up, and the lights in the trees shimmered, giving a magical quality to the night. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the bride and groom were beautiful, and everything came together the dress, the flowers, the tuxes, and all the staging and planning made for a perfect occasion. Tina Sophia the Event Planner for Millcreek Inn made sure the wedding and evening festivities came off beautifully. The day of the wedding, we had the place to ourselves for preparations, one of the reasons we chose Millcreek Inn. Other venues offered only a short prep time and then rush you out for the next event. We were able to do some of the decorations the morning of the wedding, and finished up in the afternoon before we got into evening attire. Everything is included in the price of the facility but the food and drink. There are extras that can be added, but we were told about all the costs up front, and introduced to many excellent vendors. The food, though expensive, is quite reasonable compared to other catering options, and very very good. The chef is creative and accommodating. He did appetizers plus an excellent plated dinner, including a meat, seafood and vegetarian option. Also most of the food was gluten free. The highest variable cost was the alcohol, which you can’t bring in, and must buy from Millcreek Inn, which is expensive. However, we were only charged for what was opened. There were a couple of glitches with the serving, and we weren’t able to have the drinks as quickly as we wanted for the toasts and dinner. Since we couldn’t have the bottles of wine on tables, each person had to get in a long line at the bar. Also, the staff was too aggressive clearing plates and drinks before guests were finished with them, including the toasts for the bride and groom. But these were very minor issues, involving turnover before the wedding, and a lack of serving staff. We also had to work with 3 separate people, due to turnover in the planning stage, which was frustrating. But they handled these problems very well, and the wedding turned out fantastic.

We had our wedding here in August 2012. Holy crap, I hope the management has changed since then. I was never able to schedule a tasting before picking out our menu. All I wanted was a little taste of a couple of dishes I wanted to try for our wedding, and no one was ever willing to schedule that. I was told that they have "tasting evenings" and that is the only time they do tastings. Trying to get their wine list was another area that was like pulling teeth. They kept trying to push one or two particular wines on us, and we insisted on seeing a wine list with prices. It took way too much back and forth to get that so we could make an informed decision. All this should have been a red flag. The girl who was "helping" us run the show the day of the wedding was absolutely disorganized and rude. She forgot several special things we had paid extra for. After our ceremony, she kept bothering me and telling me we had to get through our photos faster or the kitchen was just going to leave. Some of our guests arrived late, and were told that they would not be served dinner (didnt stop them from charging us for those meals anyway). Finally, I was especially annoyed with the bar. They pressured us into raising the limit of drinks, saying we would regret it if we hit the limit at any time during the night because they couldnt guarantee they would be able to approve a limit during the evening. So we doubled our budget, and watched as half our guests did not drink anything and the rest of our friends barely drank two drinks each. No problem, right? Until we hear back from Millcreek Inn that our ENTIRE alcohol budget was spent somehow. Miraculously, everyone drank just enough to hit the limit we paid for, no more and no less. At least they refunded us some of the money when we called them out on that... I would give this two stars because the food is quite delicious, the views absolutely gorgeous, and the waitstaff was courteous. However the management left enough of a black mark on our day, that I cant give more than one star.

Not only is the venue beautifully breathtaking but the entire staff at Millcreek Inn were very professional, easy to work with, and the food was amazing. You have the option to use their preferred vendors or decide on your own but we highly recommend using theirs. By doing this, our night was completely stress free. All the vendors (Salt Cake City, Peppernix, and Disc-Connection) were so comfortable working with the staff at Millcreek Inn which made our planning easy and made our wedding night run smoothly. We continue to receive complements about our wedding night and how perfect it was for my husband and I. It was truly an amazing night!_ Ashley
