The evening started off fine. Until I met Amber and Tana two of the worst bartenders that I have ever met. First of all, Amber could not make a decent drink. I know that usually really strong drinks are a good thing but... she made us some Red Snapper shots and they tasted like cherry flavored medicine because they had WAY too much Amaretto. She didnt know how to make any other shots like a water moccasin or a purple gecko. How do you bartend at a bar in Austins warehouse district and not know your shots? Well, then I met Tana. She was too busy hanging out and hugging people to care and do her job. I ordered 2 drinks for $9.75 and closed the tab. Then I ordered the same drinks only one other time on another tab. When I got the bill for the second tab it was $19.50. I disputed the charge with them and Amber advised that she would not charge me the $19.50. She offered so I said okay. I would have paid the $19.50 and disputed only the $9.75 but she told me otherwise. Lo and behold I was charged for both. Dont ever go to this place. They are horrible!

This used to be one of our favorite go-to spots when my wife and I got a chance to break away from the kids and get out. Unfortunately, business has slowed down and they have closed off one of the best sections of the club, not to mention the quality of the drinks has gone down. The worst part, however, was our last experience there where we were overcharged by over $28 on our tab. When I attempted to dispute it they didnt respond to my online request and refused to assist and resolve when I attempted to get it resolved in person. We certainly wont be going back and I would suggest you find somewhere else to go as well unless you like being charged for other peoples (including the bartenders) drinks!

DO NOT GO TO THIS VENUE. The staff were very unprofessional and the "bouncers" were making drug deals in the bathroom, then while coked out, fought several innocent patrons and threw them around. They were extremely violent to even innocent bystanders, and even after people left, the bouncers pursued them with some kind of coked out vendetta. One of the INNOCENT bystanders had their knee dislocated because of the violence. It was unnecessary, unprofessional, and ALL staff of this venue should be ashamed of the events that took place. DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE. Especially if you wish to leave unharmed.

I do not ever recall going into a place where you order a drink and your are not satisfied with it, where they charge you for the replacement drink, even though the returned drink was still a full glass what a joke. It is obvious that this place does not care enough about their associates to empower them to make that kind of situation right!!!! That reflects even more poorly on the management of the place. I can promise you this, I will not be back and yes this is the first time I have ever felt the need to run to the internet for a review. ABSOLUTELY ABSOURD!!!

Ive only visited Speakeasy once for some Sunday afternoon bowling. Yes, they have two no-quite-full-length bowling lanes upstairs. Its a ton of fun, the shorter lanes tend to be an equalizer among skill levels. The bowling is a little expensive, but still the cheapest (and only) bowling downtown. The rest of the bar looked expansive and well laid-out. The interior decor had good character. I really like multi-level bars, and while my gf tells me we were there one night drinking, I dont remember much about it except maybe people-watching Congress Street below.

This bar has a door fee of $10. If you are going to charge a door fee you better have it full of people and excellent bar and wait staff, they have neither. The bartenders dont know how to make drinks and the waitstaff is rude. The upstairs patio is great but it doesnt make up for the fact that the same two drinks can cost you different prices downtairs and upstairs. My advice skip this bar and go across to SIX or any other upstairs bar on 6th St.

I didnt get to spend nearly enough time here, but I loved it when I visited. The drinks were excellent, as was the service. I really like the environment and décor. Even the crowd that night was amazing. Its rare that I take a real liking to a bar so quickly, but I can honestly say that Speakeasy is one of my favorite spots in Austin, and I look forward to my next visit.

If you are one of those drunks who wants to be in a new room with new music and new people every time you order a new drink, you are in luck. There are a few different spaces and levels to explore here, including a pool/poker room and upstairs roof bar/loft. The rooftop patio is wonderful on a nice night. Pair that with pretty decent drinks and I am in as well.

Its a great venue with the worst crowd ever. And as much as I love the rooftop bar, it can get fire-hazard crowded...which is really discouraging after youve walked the 500 million stairs to get there . OK, theres not that many stairs, but walking up any stairs in very high heels multiplies the burden ten-fold!

Its a great location & bar. But damn it get its crowded. And bar staff can be slow. Weve had them mess up before and put a bunch of other peoples drinks on our tab. Like $50 worth of shots. Come on now. 2 girls by themselves did not do that many shots in an hr. Good music usually upstairs in the terrace.

I dont go to this bar enough! This place is awesome with its multiple stories and rooms of bars. The top story outside patio has a great view but some people might have an asthma attack from walking up all those stairs to it. Good drink prices and bands most of the time. It can get crowded to come early.

Went on a tour for a potential rental of the venue Karen was awesome in helping plan the event. Super fun vibe and easy to see why it called speakeasy. Vintage bowling lanes multi levels inside with a few bars. And one of the nicest lounge rooftop patios in austin. Heated with a bar and amazing views.

I personally am not a big fan of the crowd here, but its definitely a popular place. They have an upstairs area which is quite the climb, but it has a great view overlooking austin. They usually have interesting events going on here. Not a place to go if youre looking for laid back or low key

Was here when there was a band doing pop music mashups. It was a fun venue. There are three levels: band on the first level, bar and bowling alley (two lanes) on the second level, rooftop bar/lounge on the third level. It was fun to explore. Drinks were fine and there was plenty of space.

Awesome, multi-level spot with a great atmosphere. I came here for a SXSW event, and it suited the event very well. I didnt make it to the rooftop but the rest of the place was perfect for live music. My opinion could be skewed by the fact that we had free drinks and bottle service, haha.
