Had taken my granddaughter here including a birthday party. Both experiences were bad with the staff/owners being just plain rude. My grand daughter had been mowed down by one of the staff/owners in backwards skate time she did get her an ice pack, but still unnacceptable. My ganddaughter had a goose egg on her forearm bruises for over a week. The other visit with the birthday party I had watched parents treated just rudely. I had reserved judgement from other reviews about staff, this visit I had no doubts about this being a solid pattern of behaviour in rudeness. I have a lot more to add on this particular experience which was last fall. It was appalling. A pregnant mom went to buy water only carrying a debit card and keys as most moms do shuffling kids was refused unless she bought a certain dollar amount. Well then could she just get an empty cup to fill? No. Seriously? This mom had considered having her childs birthday party here sure did not after contued witnessing of further big issues there that day with attitudes with parents. While one owner was forcefully curt about getting near to order drinks with carrying shoesbelowa counter height, her male partner later was witnessed putting a skate on same counter to try to repair for a child. The same man also was seen using a fly swatter chasing fly in concessions including swatting on the inside door of the frozen drink machine. The fly killed any place the swatter touched was NOT wiped/sanitized. The mom who consider a party and other parents were appalled at the day. The party pizza was from Little Cesars while two other pizza chains are steps away the cost per child the parent had said warranted better quality food and thirsty children were only allowed one drink with their pizza and cake. My granddaughter wanted me to buy her a frozen drink not after the fly swatter. No way. Self serve vending machines would be cleaner and certainly a definite more pleasant. It is a true shame as when as kids our family had great and happy times there under entirely different ownership who seemed to truly enjoy their customers and seek to give them positive safe experiences in positive ways. It is sad that tradition was not upheld of service with a smile with a positive attitude. Business will not be repeated it was overheard from multiple parents. Its sad.

City Skate Center in Painesville is a diamond in hiding! Dont let the tricky driveway and lack of street signage deter you from finding the best place to skate in Ashtabula County! Clean, big and family-run and oriented, the City Skate Center surpassed our expectations as a venue for my sons eighth birthday party. The party room was well-decorated with a table already set up for cake, treat bags and presents, and family members served our party pizza and refreshments. We were graciously told not to worry about the mess as well, although we cleaned up anyway - family works like that! ;) A really fun, well-lit, rocking place for everyday rollerskating and lovely for a birthday! A definite five stars from me. We will return and continue to spread the word.

Exploited Time

Somehow, City Skate has become Unpopular. I suggest on my side, not to go here,Citizens Of Painesville. Surprisingly, due to their "Policy", Kids are not allowed to "Hang Out" in the rink seats (Next to the Concession stand). Want to know why? He said I could cause Vandalism. 1 Person. How? Plus, I dont like skating in the First place. I had just gone to Watch and Take care Of my Brother. Think Twice before heading here...I would call this "Policy" A Crappy one. EXAMPLE: SCORES FUN CENTER Clerk:Hi you want to play Bowling? Me:No, just a Spectator. Clerk: Oh Sorry, you cant come in if you not going to play. See what I mean?

What a great rink! Nice sized floor, super friendly owners, great amenities (party area, etc). They have poured a ton of money and work into this place, so if you havent been here in a while or thought it was closed down (which it was for a while), you need to visit again. Once the floor is recoated in a few weeks, I will probably be able to rate it "excellent".

This rink is large and the floors are in great shape. Im a seasoned skater and good floors are a must. Outside could use a bit of sprucing up and they need better signage.

Excellent spot....May I recommend a weekly adult skate, 21 and over...until then, Tue and thur at pla mor is the spot...less excellent rink, but no kids in the way! Lol
