We had our reception at the zoo, catered by Catering at the Zoo and it was magical. From the first day that we met with the staff they helped us to create the exact day we were looking for. Everyone was so flexible (we planned half the wedding from Texas for crying out loud) and they were so willing to help with those last minute touches that usually fall to the couple or the wedding party. The food was INCREDIBLE, the chef also personally came out to make sure everything was to our liking. The zoo is where my husband and I had our first date and we were elated that we could return to celebrate our marriage. We could not have asked for a more professional, warm, and happy staff to help make that possible. We would recommend the zoo to anyone looking for a family-friendly and happy wedding day (or any party!).

My husband and I visited this zoo yesterday (hadnt been to a zoo in a while). We were very disturbed by what we saw. When we went past the Fisher cage (like a weasel), he/she was frantically pacing back and forth from gate enclosure to gate enclosure. Frantically, neurotically, clearly a behavioral disturbance from being enclosed. I am an RN and could see immediately what this behavior represented. It was sad, disturbing and upsetting. I contacted the zoo and they never responded. I asked them to give the animal a larger enclosure at least, maybe put another animal in w/ it. Nothing, nada, no response. How many other animals display this behavior? I cant imagine my own pet living like this, let alone any animal or pet.

We were at this zoo last weekend and this one just falls short in every area. The animals that were there looked miserable/lifeless. Lots of construction equipment, fences everywhere, torn up dirt and emptiness. The Fenneco foxes were pacing badly like they wanted out. There was no food or water for most of the animals. They all looked depressed! The lions need a bigger cage with more shade as do most of the animals there. The tigers and bears etc, had no water filled in the cement holders where they could swim or drink. I felt these animals were very neglected. The elephant I saw from the window had a big sore on his face. Two thumbs down. I hope this review goes to the right people so this can be resolved.

Small town zoo with a big town feel. There is a large variety of animals in exhibits that allow fine viewing without being too close. You can cover the entire zoo in a couple hours, but I recommend planning longer to really see everything. Take a camera with a long telephoto lens. We felt sad for Doc, the elephant, who mostly rocked side-to-side and didnt seem to know how to interact with the other elephants (a fault we attributed more to his past life in the circus than to the zoo), and were lucky to have the male lion go right up to the glass barrier and put on a roaring show mere inches away from us!

The price for this zoo is a steal, lets start with that! The selection of animals for Syracuse was surprisingly large. But what really made this enjoyable was seeing how well groomed and healthy the "wildlife" is!! Perfect size zoo to see all the animals in one day without making it feel like a chore. Shows a great deal of appreciation for those involved to fund the adoption of these animals and the community around it! I look forward to coming back to visit all the friends we made at this Zoo!

I went this morning and was very dissapointed of the amount of dead animals. I never in my life thought Id see the amount of dead organisms I did that day. The bison also pissed in the drinking water his brother was drinking. Before we left the zoo, I had the pleasure of stumbling upon 9 mentally confused penguins held captive in a dark gloomy factory screaming for help. All of the animals were drugged up and sad. Other than that, good times, good trip, reccomend.

Amazing zoo at an amazingly cheap price! Its the perfect size for families with kids or people with a short patience. The zoo is walkable in under 2hrs, but each exhibit is a great size and really well done. The animals looks well taken care of, unlike some other zoos. The elephant area is awesome! For little ones, I recommend the sand play area. The only thing that was disappointing was the cafeteria -- skip it and go to Dyno BBQ less than 10 mins away.

It has been a couple of years since our last visit, and you can see the improvements. The squid display, the elephant exhibit, and the primates. Have always enjoyed this zoo, and during the winter, it was nice to see the wolves having fun, and the penguins are always fun to watch. During January and February admission is half price which is a bonus. If it is too cold outside their are enough indoor exhibits to make it worthwhile. A nice little zoo.

The first time I went to this zoo with family I loved it although many.of the animals just seemed so depressed, lifeless and looks like they dont need to be at this zoo the lion especially , as we toured down the path these animals didnt look.right at all.. the elephants were too far away, and the monkeys locked behind these glass walls with no ventilation and also seemed lifeless like they just wanted to be rescued and to be out.

We have been to many zoos across the country and this one just falls short in every area. There werent many animals. There were no tours or talks with the trainers. The animals that were there looked miserable/lifeless. Lots of contruction equipment, fences everywhere, torn up dirt and emptiness. The only attraction that was entertaining was the penquins. Definately save your $$ and do something else. Two thumbs down.

This zoo is rather small when compared to some of the other big city zoos, that being said they do have a very diverse collection of animals. We went on a Monday and being early in the school year there were no groups of school children, so the crowds were non existent. The zoo is very well laid out for easy navigation for wheelchairs or strollers. I highly recommend it for a casual low stress getaway ternoon.

The Syracuse Zoo keeps on improving their exhibits and has friendly, informative staff. The animals all appear to be very well taken care of and are usually pretty easy to spot. Its a great place to spend a few hours and a relatively cheap destination. If you live in the area I would recommend purchasing a zoo membership, it pays for itself rather quickly, especially if you have children.

Really a very well done zoo. Exhibits are well maintained and you can frequently see the animals. The octopus is really amazing right at the entrance and the penguins are a major favorite of the kids as they are quite playful. The zoo also has really cool specials like the zoo boo during Halloween when they are open after dark with many cool Halloween stations appropriate for young kids.
