TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE! I had a rather pleasant first visit to this store even though it looks pretty dumpy from the outside. The person working there was very hands off, which I actually preferred. They didnt have one fish I was looking for(ropefish) in stock and the other ones I wanted (red severum) they had two of, but they looked sickly so the person working told me they had more coming in in a few days and to try back then for some healthier ones. I was pretty pleased after this exchange. I live an hour away so before I drove there in a few days I wanted to make sure they actually had the fish I wanted. So I called to ask and the person who answered the phone was a total jerk. He was really short with me. I told him the whole story about how Id been there and what the other guy told me. I asked if he got more red severum in, he said we already had some. And I told him that they didnt look too good the other day and the other guy told me to wait until new ones came in. He said "well they look fine to me" so I said ok.. do you have any ropefish? He just said no. I told him I was displease with his attitude and felt he was being a bit short with me. He just said ok. He didnt care at all. My overall feeling from this guy was that he had a bad attitude and didnt give two craps about his customers. I will never be going to this store ever again. I HATE bad customer service.

Okay, so lets put a good review up for this store because they deserve it. If you want to cry about your experiences go somewhere else. A Ropefish? .. who demands Ropefish in this industry anyway? ... Go get yourself a real aquarium. As for the guy who bought an "aggressive fish" and should have been "advised", maybe you should learn about fish, or go to Petco, Petsmart because little fish stores like this arent there to walk your hand through the process of knowing what fish are territorial. This is a fish store who gets their fish exclusively from a distributor, breeder, etc. This isnt Petsmart where you have some little kids running around netting you goldfish, and mollies. Beginners should not be coming into this store and wasting THIS COMPANIES time. Ive known the guy Ved who works here and he is an awesome person. I give him my fish all the time, and he lets me swap out for a cheaper fish. So I love this place, the customer service, and the ability to trade my fish in so they can make profit and help a business out. Overall 10/10 ... what other fish stores do we have?! and youre gonna complain about "customer service" .. get a life.

We went twice during published businesses hours and the store was closed. Made it in yesterday, but had a difficult time sorting out what was for sale and what wasnt. A lot of the stuff wasnt priced and the employee, Tom (I had to ask, you certainly couldnt tell that he was an employee), seemed to just throw out random prices - strange, but not terrible. However, after settling on a few corals and 1 fish, he told me that he couldnt sell me the fish for that price (it was clearly marked $60, right on the tank, only one of that fish) and that it would be $100. I was a little put off by this, but moreso by the rude and condescending attitude that he took, right in front of my son. We walked to the other aisle where I suggested another store to my 12 year-old; however, Tom interjected himself into our conversation with rude remarks - I was floored, I couldnt believe it. Not only did this place lose a $300+ sale that night, but Ill never give them any business. Its one thing to quibble over a few dollars, but to treat potential new customers so poorly just indicates a badly run business.

Do not go there if you want decent respectable service. Forget them working with you. I bought a fish, who turned out to be incredibly agressive after an hour, and killed my other fish. All I wanted to do is bring the fish back the next day and get my money back or do an even exchange. After days of not getting any straight answers, and waiting for the owners answer I was told the owner is not willing to work with me, I can bring the fish back but will get no money back or any exchanges. All this after I got the impression if I was unhappy or the fish didnt work out Aquarium World would "work with me". Now I have a fish that I should have never been advised to purchase in the first place. This is an example of a company who really does not have the costumers best interest in mind. I will never go back there, and I will tell all my fish friends not to go there all because they were so difficult to deal with. They could have had a loyal customer who recommended their services, but they do not live up to this.

This is your typical hole in the wall Aquarium store. Anyone who has been in this hobby for a while knows exactly what to expect. The store has 200-300 tanks with various product in it. Its a little run down but that doesnt take away from the ability to have a local store that is in a niche market which anymore seems impossible to find. I have only been there several times, but each time I was met with a helpful individual (different people) who took the time to help me figure out questions or concerns. I even bought a glass canopy from them and expected a sizeable mark up because of them being a small store. They didnt have it in stock and had to order it for me. Found the pricing to be very competitive and was pleasantly surprised. Will do business with them again. Thanks!

Honest selling! He will tell you how much he gets it for as he looks at his monitor, and he tells you how much hes willing to sell it for. Very affordable, very genuinely nice individuals who manage this local fish shop. The staff and i can even storm up random conversational topics. They are a "Take your jacket off and stay a while" type of staff. Very cheap Reverse Osmosis water! And some nice coral! Every time i buy coral from these guys, i never have an aptasia problems, parasites, or bad water. Its a great place to go. Ignore the snob like reviews along this page. Aquarium World, Chester PA is the best!

I am going to agree with Steve D. I think the store is excellent. My husband and I have been in a few times, and the staff was more than helpful. I spoke with the owner the other day who said he recently got a new employee who replaced one who wasnt the best with customers. We went in when we were preparing a tank for more fish and the staff tested our water for us and advised us about the appropriate steps to take before getting new fish. The selection of fish is incredible! I would certainly recommend this place, and we are definitely going back. :)
