Skyler Is Stuck On A Lift Hill
Once you leave, its hard to come back. I live near Darien Lake (3 hours away), but I regularly go out of state to visit better amusement parks such as Cedar Point, Hersheypark, Six Flags Great Adventure, or Kings Dominion. When comparing Darien Lake to these awesome parks, Darien Lake just plain sucks. They have a minimal amount of rides and they havent gotten a new coaster or major ride in a LONG time. Their last coaster was the MotoCoaster which is a snooze-fest. The Boomerang is a boring Vekoma clone. They are everywhere and nobody likes them. The Mind Eraser is incredibly painful and so is thee Viper. The Predator was just bearable enough to ride, but now its closed. They officially no longer have a wooden coaster. The only good coaster is the Ride of Steel. However, guess what, its a clone too. There is a mirror copy of it at Six Flags America in Maryland. Its a fun ride, but there are so many straight sections and mediocre helices that just waste the speed. Some of the employees were rude and didnt want to help, but Ive met worse. The major issue, is their operation and maintenance. The coasters constantly broke down. All of the times Ive been there, the coasters broke down repeatedly. When I went with my school band, the Ride of Steel broke down twice and the Viper broke down once. All of those times were when we were in line. They couldve broken down more but I wouldnt know. The food is mediocre and the lines were kind of long. It was a Saturday though, and the park cant do anything about that. In the end, this park is bad to mediocre. There are so many better parks that this one is left in the dust. I would prefer Seabreeze over this run down Six Flags graveyard. Seabreeze has the charm, quality rides, and views of Lake Ontario. Plus, its closer. I dont know about you guys, but Ill stick with my favorites (some alternative places to go: Cedar Point, Kings Island, Seabreeze, Six Flags New England, Lake Compounce, Hersheypark, Dorney Park, Waldameer, Kennywood, Knoebels, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags America, Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, Carowinds, etc.

We had a great experience last year and this year at Darien lake. Your rides were great and our 9 year old grand-daughter was happy to say the least, it was nice to see that safety was number one at your park ! The water park which we used every day because of the hot weather was second to none, we all enjoyed it , to a point of where we didnt want to leave ! We used your pull through site with our 36 foot motorhome and there was adaquate room for the RV and the site was level and clean. We acquired the meal deal when reserving our trip and had a great breakfast every day before going to enjoy our day, the food was great and plenty of it. We throughly enjoyed " Ignite the Night " laser show every night after a busy day on the rides and water park. When arriving at Darien we noticed that the step on our motorhome was positioned out and would not go back in, which worried me , because I needed to fix it in order to drive back to Canada. While walking back to our site I noticed your park maintenance crew working on and replacing a pump so I decided to ask them if they could help me get the step back in on my RV. We could not believe it when Ed the maintenance supervisor called his electriction and they came to check it out. The motor was burnt out, and Ed promised us not to worry, it would be taken care of before we left to go home and gave me his card with his phone number to call on Thursday before we left for Canada, he stated "Dont worry about this, just go and enjoy your stay at the park " we were impressed and to say the least releaved, a load taken off our minds. On Thursday we called Ed and he and 3 maintenance personnel showed up and got the step in so we could drive back home , where we got it repaired. We could not believe the hospitality and how professional they were. We would and will recommend Darien Lake to all our family and friends, congratulations on having a great resort and thank-you for all the fun we had, a vacation to remember !! Regards, the Langlois family.

I have been going to Darien Lake since my 20 year old was 6 months old. I have been there through different owners. I have experienced the good and the bad. Really bad. They are doing better but still need more improvements. I think getting characters back in the park walking around would help. And general upkeep of the park needs to be addressed. We arrived on a Sunday, and our trailer was not ready. So we went to the Wave Pool. No one was in the pool, they were all standing around. There was no place to sit either. When we inquired why no one was in the pool, it was because they were training their life guards in CPR. In the middle of a hot Sunday and the place was packed? Never heard of that. So we went to the Lazy River, well THAT was packed. The line was up and over the bridge! So we went back to Hooks Lagoon so at least the little ones could cool off. I needed to cool off. For sure. On Monday, since we stayed the night, the park was a lot less crowded. BUT there was no place to park by the General Store since they were putting tents up for an event on Wednesday. There was no heads up for that. We did get a great day in the park and water park. The lines were nothing and the attendants were so nice! The day ended around dinner time when the stench of manure was so great we had to leave. Come to find out the farm down the road from the park was spreading manure and the wind was JUST RIGHT. I see they are adding more and more cabins to the park. They are nice, but they are a bit expensive to rent. I hope you dont do away with the RVs! Oh and the young man who worked at the food place over by the Grizzly Run, he needs to learn to speak up, smile and look at people when you talk! I love going to Darien Lake. Will go until I can no longer. They need to work on getting rid of the sea gulls. It was the Canadian Geese, now its the sea gulls. They were everywhere!

Syracuse, NY I went to Darien Lake on Saturday (9/5), which has always been one of my favorite places to go during the summer since it isnt too far from Syracuse. To start off, I think this park has 5 great roller coasters and the staff members are friendly and the food is great! My purpose of writing this review is not to bash the place or be negative, but to let consumers know the negatives this place has to offer. I was very disappointed in the fact that the Tornado and Big Kahuna were closed due to mechanical issues at SplashTown. My boyfriend and I were looking forward to those water rides all week long! And the two water rides open had a 2 hour line, which was insane!! And the Tornado is the best water ride in the whole park! I think the management/ownership of this place is slowly going down hill from unpainted, peeling rides to "trashy" individuals line jumping to the best rides in the park not operating. This place has been owned and operated by so many different companies since Six Flags sold it and this year Darien Lake is at its worse. As someone who has been attending this place since she was 11 and coming 2-4 times a year, I am very disappointed and dont know if I would return! And to mention, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting!!! I understand its hard to keep a place clean with tons of people but the bathrooms were horrible [e.g. smelled, no toilet paper, no soap, wet dirty floor](really blood on the toilet seat ladies?). Gross and a health risk!! A priority boarding pass would also be a great additional purchase to offer customers! Darien Lake should also disclose to consumers on Facebook and their website of which rides are not operating, this would be greatly appreciated! Darien Lake has always been a fun, close place for me to attend during the summer and I hate to see it eventually suffer due to some minor issues that can be addressed!
