I took my nine year old son here for an afternoon outing with the dog, a sweet 8 lb. poodle-mutt. We live farther away and havent been here much since the renovation. Got two tickets so he could ride the carousel and train (hes old enough to do both by himself) so he could do those before he played on the playground and we walked around the lake (the thing I was personally looking forward to doing). That was the plan. Couldnt walk around the lake. It was closed off. Couldnt take the dog in the playground area (there was a sign I missed and a gruff employee that confronted me). As I couldnt even have the dog on the sidewalks in the playground area (which the sign just said playground, but the law cited says the whole area I was told) I could barely watch my son get on the train let alone play in the playground. Since only one out of the four things I had intended for the outing was grief-free, I walked out of the place in a (admittedly hormonally-charged, probably) teary-eyed state, with my son trying to comfort me through his own disappointment and the dog lolling cheerfully at my side after having been admired by the other families with kids that we had passed in this pretty, yet somehow now character-less and unfriendly park.

My goddaughter and I stopped by this park during the 4th of July holiday and it was packed with people barbecuing and enjoying the beautiful weather. The park was huge and I was pissed that I didnt know anyone to go and get a piece of BBQ chicken or hamburger, LOL. They have these huge areas with BBQ grills and tents to cover you from the sun. We saw a cute railroad train that looked like it went around the park that we meant to get on but we were making several stops after this park visit. We did take a ride on the pedal boat for $5 for 1 hour I believe. The pedal boat was hilarious because it took dang near half the time to figure out how to maneuver the direction of the boat. However, the pond was cool and serene even with lots of other people around. We stopped in and saw the large carousel pavilion and there was a long line for the kiddies to get on. The park was clean and definitely a cool spot to come and chill with family and friends

What a perfect park for a city! Its North Carolinas first public park. It first opened in March of 1887 when Mr. Pullen donated over 66 acres as a gift to the City of Raleigh. The city did a fantastic job recently renovating Pullen Park. Its got everything from picnic tables, playgrounds, and grills for a family/friend picnic. Plus theres lots to do for everyone of all ages! Theres even a mini amusement area which houses a gorgeous Gustave A. Dentzel Carousel. _When was the last time you rode on one_? Theres concession stands for treats and soft drinks. Even pets are allowed [on leashes of course] The paddle boats are so popular. Dont forget to plan plenty of time to fully enjoy the park and jump on the train as it meanders around the park. Prices for tickets/rides are $1

The park was a great experience for my family during our vacation. It was cheap (free parking, $1 per ride per person), clean, and unlike any park we have visited. Our daughter is turning 3 (in 2 months) and she asked for 2 days if we were going back to the park. She loved the carousel. It was not as fast as it originally appeared, or as the comments made it seem. We also enjoyed the train ride and playground area. There are unique play areas, including sand boxes, that kept her entertained for almost 2 hours. There are also misting stations that she and the adults enjoyed during our hot day out. The staff was very friendly and attentive to the children. We are planning to return before our vacation is over and will definitely visit again when we are back in Raleigh.

One of the best city parks Ive been to even though its not very big, Pullen Park has something for everyone. From kids to adults! While Pullen has a nice green space and man-made lake, what really makes the park are the amusements. Lovingly restored carousel, the JP Huntington choo-choo that chugs around the park along with pedal boats. Grab a sandwich at the Pullen Place snack bar and then burn off those calories on the playground or on a walk around the park. Its really a lovely spot and SUPER popular but thankfully late night summer hours mean you can find a quiet period. Honestly, even if you dont have kids or cant borrow any, check out Pullen Park! Its your tax dollars if you live in Raleigh and youll see that they have been very well spent here...

Free Family Friendly things to do are at the top of our list these days and this park was a magnificent gem after a 3 hour drive. Not only are there ample, clean restrooms (very important feature for ladies and little girls), the train station theme is appealing to all ages of children and adults alike. The play areas have various levels of challenging things to climb on and the carousel, priced at $1 has a seat for everyone too (stationary animals, moving animals, multi-level benches). Although the boat ride was closed because we arrived 30 minutes before closing, we didnt feel as though there could be better features in a park. Pullen Park refreshed us after the ride and the gift shop souvenirs available at the ticket booth didnt break the bank either.

Pullen Park is a great family destination, they have a vintage Carousel along with boat rides. Tickets cost a dollar apiece making it a fairly inexpensive stop. That also have a penny press machine. You can rent out gazebos for family events or use them on a first-come-first-serve basis. They also have various refreshments and food which will make due if you are hungry. If you are into Pokemon go they have one gym and various Pokey stops scattered around. This place is also close proximity to NC State campus and very close to downtown Raleigh making it a great way to start off or finish up the day in Raleigh. Theres also a playground for all ages along with the train that you can use tickets to ride.

Beautiful grounds, I dont think I have ever seen a piece of trash on the ground. The playgound looks fantastic (wouldnt know, Im in my 20s and dont have kids, but Im jealous of the lil tykes running around on it). The train is a quaint and adorable touch even though I havent personally ridden it, it brings joy to see it choo-choo around the park. The landscaping is beautiful - and yet I never see any maintainers which is fabulous that it seems effortless but I know a lot of work must go into it. The prices for the excursions like the carousel and paddle boats are fair, and its a lovely way to spend an afternoon with family friendly fun, friends Pokemon hunting, or a romantic stroll in the evening.

Took my 3 grandsons yesterday - food attendant was rude - order was wrong - buns were cold and hard, bacon was cold. First time in my life I didnt leave a tip. Bought tickets for train then train conductor said due to heat the train was only operating on the half hour. I and the people in line asked why we werent told that when we purchased the tickets. He had no answer. I bought 3 tickets for the boat ride. At theboat ride 2 grandsons were too big to ride. I went back to the ticket office and asked the attendant why she sold me 2 tickets when the children would not be able to ride and why she didnt tell me about the trains reduced schedule. She said , "uh". Wont be returning.
