Had a terrible experience here - asked for corporate to give me a call back and they never did. First - were stubs premiere members and werent given the discount on Tuesday night (something you dont have to ask for at Bow Tie or Cinepolis which also does a Tuesday night discount). Then we enter the theater (5 mins before showtime) and find the credits are still rolling. The credits end and the theater is pitch black. Other patrons came in using their phones to find seats - on top of that the theater smells like a basement. I found a rather rude manager 5 minutes after showtime (we were all still sitting in the dark) to complain about the lack of lights, smell, and the late start - she said "theres nothing I can do, its an old building" - WRONG - Bow Tie run theaters that are 50 years older than this place and they dont smell like mold! She blamed "corporate" which has yet to call me - great service, AMC. Then started the film LETTERBOXED and PILLERBOXED - yes the film showed on about half of the screen. AMC East Hanover is awful even if they show art films - Montclair despite the parking headaches is a much more pleasant experience with good customer service and better presentation. Id say this theater is in desperate need of a remodel but what they really need as well is a maintenance budget, better management and sharper staff.

Just went to see a movie there and got a refund and left. The concession attendant was a complete smug, (expletive deleted). Ive been going there for years. I finally joined their club and bought tickets and went to the stand to get some popcorn. I asked the difference in sizes on the popcorn and the attendant stands there and starts grilling me about my computer bag and that I cant have it, and that its policy, and always has been. This is something that has never happened before and Im not about to leave an expensive computer in the car. He then starts to speak down to me. I ask again for my popcorn and he just stands there and stares. I then went to get a refund and am now told that I cant have a refund for the club I just joined when buying my ticket. Eventually we got it because the manager needed to get involved. Now, if I wanted to bring food into the theater, would I really put it in with an expensive computer, or be at the stand to buy snacks? AMC East Hanover, youve lost my business. Too bad, I liked going there, but I just cant support a place that hires employees like that. The manager should have attempted to smooth over the situation as well. He just got us the refund and sent us on our way. Can anyone recommend a good theater in the area thats not AMC?

Before renovation, the theater was absolutely horrible. The seats were dirty and uncomfortable. Like every other theater in the US, the food is expensive. BUT, it became one of the best movie theaters I have ever been to after the renovation. The seats are now reclinable. Because of this new feature, the space between the rows are huge, so you will never be bothered by that one annoying person who keeps kicking your seat. The place itself looks fancy and modern. Overall, it is 100x better than before and I recommend anyone to relax and watch a movie with friends or family at this location.

Awful. We bought tickets online only to arrive and discover we had to stand online to print them from a kiosk. One kiosk was down and the other died after we spent 20 minutes in line. So then we had to yeti the main line - at the back of the line. We arrived 40 minutes before showtime and ended up missing the first 10 minutes. Dont even ask about the concession stand - they had people lined up 20 foot deep but had 2 people working. The place is awful. There are many other theatre choices in the area. Pick one!

Poor Management. There was a sign that gave a discounted price for a large candy, when purchased with a combo. When they added it all up, there was no discount. They took the sign out, looked at it, said the offer was expired (though no expiry date), and then put the sign back - for the next person to see. The manager came over and just confirmed it all. The sign was back again after the movie. It is not the nicest theater and with poor management, I wont be going back.

Popcorn is decent; most of the time they remember to add salt to the kernels while its cooking and not after its finished popping. Careful when ordering pretzels, as there is a tendency for the staff to use sanitizer fluid instead of water. Its not poisonous per se, just gives it a funny taste (which I personally enjoy). Never order any pizza; you might as well place ketchup and cheese on a round cardboard cutout, smother it around, then heat it over a bunsen burner.

I had to go 30 minutes from home to see a movie at this theater . It was the only one close enough to me to see this special viewing. Im glad I went he. The staff was friendly, and had pretty good customer service. The best part was the seats though. They have installed powered leather recliners in this location, and they are great. All AMC theaters should switch to them. Will see movies here again.

The place is filthy and disgusting. Reminds me of the old Times Square Theaters before the renovated the whole area. You can see grease stains on walls behind the back row seats from years of people resting their heads on it. The seats are broken and covered in decades of filth from popcorn oil to spilled drinks. The restrooms are sorely outdated and its a flush and run kind of a situation.

Im waiting for a special movie to start (Dixie chicks, $15.00) it was called for 7:00and its now 7:15. Blank screen!. And now its 7:40 and they are playing some cartoon. And 7:45, dark theatre, still no dixie chicks And no movie here at all, free passes and a wasted evening-1 star for the nice chair. Crappy candy selection too!

Crappy Projectors, Smelly Theaters, Dirty, Staff doesnt care about their job, and what the other guy said about the police being there to harass movie goers is totally true. I stay far away from this place. Go to Essex Green in West Orange or AMC Rockaway in Rockaway mall. May be further but a billion times better.

Saw the 8pm Hunger Games Catching Fire in theater 12 last night with a near sold out crowd. The air was dangerously hot and stifling because of poor ventilation with many people complaining of feeling sick on their way out. Will try to avoid this place in the future.

This "movie theater" was really good before, and it had quite interesting repertoire, I dont know is it still like that(8 months I wasnt). Unfortunately facilities were not great, actually far from great...never liked those "seats"..also it could be cleaner..

We came to see Met Operas Encore "Faust" on January 11. After half hour of waiting, manager declared that the show was cancelled. Besides, we do not believe the size of the screen was sufficient for HD show. We will not go to this theater again.

The seats are so dirty, all of them in every theater. All of them smell like urin. Like piss!!!!! I dont know how people can go here, seriously, for a place like this your tickets per person should be like 3$.... go to rockaway everyone
