How did I go into a movie theater expecting to watch a movie while escaping from the stresses of the holiday season and leave that theater before the movie even started, upset and lecturing my girlfriend with a diatribe about the socioeconomic conditions handed down from corporations and corrupt local politics that are crippling the American middle class? Now before you second guess yourself, yes, you are reading a review about Regal Cinemas Manahawkin 10, and yes, this has everything to do with politics. When I was a child growing up in Manahawkin in the 90s and early 2000s this was a place the place to be on a Friday night. $20 allowance a week got you in the door (with concessions) and kept you out of trouble for the night. I havent been to this theater in 10+ years now, and as much as I wanted to think that this would be a nostalgic experience, it was anything but that and it reinforced why I left Manahawkin. When my friends ask me about Colorado the only thing I can tell them is "The quality of life is a lot better." And most respond with a blank stare or they nod tight-lipped. I assume the ones that respond with the blank stare have never considered this concept as the source of their discontent. And the ones who respond with a nod, understand that quality of life is a concept far removed from the American middle class of Manahawkin, New Jersey. When we walked in from outside, no-one greeted us at the door. We proceeded to the ticket checker to have our tickets checked that we purchased on Fandango for $25. There was no-one at the booth so we proceeded forward to auditorium 3. As soon as we entered, we were confronted by the smell of what one might imagine as a combination of smelly socks, stale popcorn and mold. The theaters are just unsanitary, and you can make this assessment by the smell alone. Compounded with the small size of the theater, poor ventilation and smell, I was already getting nauseous as soon as we took our seats. The small size of the theater was the next thing, we sat about half way back from the screen and prepared to tough it out. I looked over at my girlfriend wondering if she was comfortable but before the words could leave my mouth, I noticed that she was straining her neck to look upwards at the screen. Instead, I asked her if she would feel more comfortable ordering a movie off of netflix. She responded with an immediate "Yes." This was the last straw. Every one around here seems to think that they dont have a say about where they decide to spend their money. I will never spend my money at this theater again. As a matter of fact, I dont think Ill be coming to this area for any sort of vacation ever again. What it really comes down to is quality of life. There is one "good" restaurant in this town, one terrible movie theater, one grocery store, about 20 fast food restaurants and about 40 convenience/drug stores. The American middle class has all but given up any expectation of a standard of living or the say-so to influence it. Start lobbying your officials, go to a town hall meeting, maybe try to find an answer to why all the young people are leaving or are addicted to heroin. Seek answers and make your officials work for the ridiculous taxes that you pay them. Youre paying an incredible tax rate, you would think you could go watch a movie comfortably and without fear of contracting hepatitis.

They need to redesign the theaters... The seats for someone with a bad back ESPECIALLY are horrible... The spacing between the seats is far too narrow. The staff on the other hand are very polite and helpful. I am going tonight to see a movie and will be updating my review after that. We consider this a big night out which we dont get often so it kind of puts a damper on it when you are constantly moving around throughout the movie to get comfortable. This review probably wont even get read BUT on the off chance it does, Id like to mention that business would be better if you made it more comfortable. Most of the people I know go to Brick when they want to see a movie and its always for the same reason... UPGRADE is the best word for today... Oh and lest I forget... It is EXPENSIVE, Got a $25.00 fandago gift card as a gift and figured it would cover 2 admissions... It did NOT had to add to it. This is Manahawkin people not LA... Family night out should be affordable dont you think?? Cant afford the popccorn and drink when the admission was so high... Could have bought the movie for this price AND popcorn and soda!

Rainy day at shore yesterday, everyone from island looking for some entertainment.Bought tix online Fandango. Arrived early, long lines for tickets & food. Theate apparently had power outage night before, the projector systems werent working. Some folks were seated for well over a hour b4 being told, got free comp tix. I hopped from long food line to growing refund line. Management should have had this problem figured out b4 first movie showing. Terrible. Food line had 3 employees, refund line 1 guy. He was stressed but trying to accommodate by giving comp tix, refunds & answering phone. No other mgmt around. People standing in line to buy tickets &;food, patrons in return line had to make them aware of situation. Regal needs to audit this location...personnel didnt seem to know how to handle this situation.

If I could give this movie theater zero stars, I would. The theater always smells like piss and I would be more comfortable sitting in gold out chairs. They also blast the air conditioner. Movie sound is bad and the theater is dirty. Almost every time Ive gone something goes wrong and our tickets have to be refunded. Also, the staff is incredibly rude, especially the bald man with the glasses... very rude to me, my boyfriend, our 2 friends, and my dad. VERY run down theater that is insanely overpriced. I recommend Marquee Cinema in Toms River or any AMC (brick, freehold, etc.). You will be able to buy tickets and twice the amount of food for half the price you would at this theater.

Honestly out of all the theaters Ive been to this one has to be the worst. I live locally and always go out of town unless time is a factor this is my last resort place. Uncomfortable small seats that have been the same for over 15 years and are stacked way to close to one another and a funky smell always lingers. The staff is fair. And the over the phone customer service is terrible. No options to speak to an employee just robots. The insides need to be re-done or at least the seats and Id give it a better rating.

Not sure why there is so much hate placed on this Theater. Yes it is a bit outdated but not to the point where it is unclean or unusable. The prices are a bit high but so are most Regal Theaters so no real surprise there. This may not be a top of the line Theater but it certainly was not all that bad either. Staff is friendly and they usually get movies pretty quickly. All in all not a bad experience and four years later I plan on continuing to use this theater for my movie needs.
