First time to visit this theater for a concert of The Letterman. It is a lovely, small theater ( I would guess seating to be about 350) staffed by lovely people who genuinely care about the theater. I found little that would prompt a return to Grand Prairie with the exception of this theater. This was a lovely experience in a lovely theater! It is a shame that the area around the theater doesnt share the same charm. HOWEVER< it is not in a seedy area and our group felt safe in and around the theater. So please dont be put off by the neighborhood.

Where to begin? The new design is baffling terrible. Sound still echoes, sight lines are obstructed, upper seats are incredibly uncomfortable etc etc. Why the stairs are INSIDE the auditorium is the dumbest design idea ever. Clearly the design was done by someone who has never been to a movie theater. This place needs to close again and redo the problems. Aparently nothing was learned from "The Brick" debacle.

My main criticism is that I strongly recommend getting there early enough to get first dibs on seating. With the way the theater is designed, some of the seats are awesome, and some are pretty awful. So come early to make sure you dont get a bad location- unless you are in the center, the view of the screen is pretty bad. As long as you know to plan for that, its a really nice place.

I had friends visiting from out of town and Rachel went absolutely above and beyond for a request I thought seemed unattainable. You made my night and maybe even my summer! Thanks for showing a friendly Minnesota Nice attitude Rachel, you rock. Customer service and friendliness was 11/10. I will always suggest uptown theatre, and their sign makes for a great picture. ;)

it sucks that we have to wait outside in line before a movie starts. they dont have a big lobby area. but the screen is big, and the staff are wonderful. they even serve wine and beer. they show old movies so watch their schedule. shows like: princess mononoke, scott pilgrim, rocky horror.

I absolutely love this place and go to midnight showing here all the time. The new love seats up in the balcony are such a great improvement and I love the open bar for my late night movie watching. They are always showing the movies that I am most interested in seeing in theatres.

Ive always loved the uptown area and both of the cinemas located there, Lagoon and Uptown cinema. After the renovations, Uptown cinema is now my favorite cinema in the metro area. Comfortable leather seats and top notch customer service make for a memorable experience.

The midnight movies at this place are great. Always fun to have a couple beers while enjoying an older flick. The downside though, I heard a rumor theyre bringing in a copy of "Twilight" to watch. Maybe itll turn into a riff fest and be a fun experience though.

Venerable art-house theater with a new remodel. I just saw an international film festival film here. I like the venue, the films and the history. I must admit I dont love the new seats (too deep), but I think Ill enjoy the assigned seats.

The weekly quip on the movie billboard is enough to love these guys. The prices are decent, the movies awesome, and they showcase old favorites and cult classics like Rocky Horror Picture show once a month... whats not to like?

Fun venue for watching midnight specials and indie films that you cant see at the big chain theaters. It has an amazing art deco flair inside the theater itself. You can also order alcoholic beverages which is fun.

The balcony is very comfortable, and the experience is great, but the screen is a little small and a little far away. Floor seating is less comfortable, and less fun, but gives you a nice view.

Great theater, great movies (most times), crabby staff, and worst of all I went on a night that was 90 degrees out during the day. No Air Conditioning, no fans, hotter than it was outside!

Competitive price for tickets. Unfortunately the seating is not very good. You sit below the screen so you have to tilt your neck up the whole time. Very uncomfortable for a long movie.
