This theater is definitely catered towards the film fanatic. While they do have showings for major block buster films they occasionally have weekends dedicated to student film projects and indie-type films. Do not expect the audio and visuals to be as great as one you find at the AMC. Its a pretty old theater so much of the movie-watching experience is going to be pretty standard. If there is one thing I have to applaud about this theater its the culture. This is the only theater Ive gone to where the audience has been the utmost respectful. Most of the movie goers are 20 -30 some year old film enthusiasts who just want to watch the movie. Each time Ive gone to a full showing the attendees were always quiet the whole way through. Awesome place to go to if you all you want to do is watch a film without the hassle of your typical theater. Plus the college discount has been a strong reason for me to keep coming back.

Cheap movie theatre (relative to other), good seats, and fun atmosphere (outside)! This movie theatre is on a street with restaurants and bars which are all lit up. There is a cobblestone (mayeb cobblestone it was unusual and I cant think of the name) Street with a small park and bike paths across the street next to the river. The movie was 6 dollars for students at night. That is a crazy deal and usually can only get that for matinee or for older movies. We went to see deadpool for $6 at night! I think the price is a little expensive if you are not a student though. The seats were comfy. I dont really complain about seats in a movie theatre unless they are squeaky or something along those lines. I did not try the popcorn but I remember it being very reasonably priced. If I am near the U and want to see a new release movie. This is the place I go because of the price and the college feel to it!

Wow! Where can you find a theater like this! I love it. It may be small but the outside is incomparable. With the large chains everywhere I was very happy to find St.Anthony main. Usually people come into Stillwater to check out our tourist attractions or my husband and I would visit lake elmo vali hi drive in. Weve made much of a larger effort to come into this area and the cities and see what more it has to offer. Great find, amazing staff and wonderful seating. Oh the pricing is basically buy one get one compared to the large retail chains. Parking is a little issue since its located behind everything come early!

The theatre is very affordable, and boasts a student discount. It always was a nice mix of the current Hollywood blockbusters, as well as some of the more obscure indie flicks for people to check out. And during the MSP IFF, it becomes a wonderful place to hang out and see films with all kinds of other local film buffs. It also has a beautiful location, being right on the river facing downtown Minneapolis. Only criticisms of it are it could use a little polish and retouching (mens bathroom for sure), and once screen had a weird blemish near the bottom center. But its still easily my most visited theatre.

A quaint, homey movie theater that shows the latest. I recommend walking here and enjoying an afternoon movie, followed up by local eats, and a walk down Stone Arch Bridge. Seating is smaller than modern theaters, as is general capacity around (bathroom, concessions, etc.), but its a fun atmosphere and resonates with the neighborhood. You can grab drinks at the adjacent bar and bring them in. Theater one has some stuff on their white screen they should invest to clean out to improve image quality. Buy tickets online, grab a seat early and enjoy the show.

Cheap Prices! You cant beat the Tuesdays specials. Be warned; THEY NO LONGER VALIDATE PARKING! Apparently, they stopped validating about 5 months ago (according to a theater worker). I had once saw that they validated so I parked in the parking ramp. After they refused to validate, I took a closer look at the sign and saw that they had blotched out the theater name on the sign that says "these businesses validate" with what looked like a permanent marker. Parking is still cheap, but you can also find free parking nearby on a curb or something.

St Anthony main is a great small theater that is within walking distance from the U of M. They dont try and gauge you on the ticket price or concessions. Basically, they are the opposite of AMC, and you can expect to spend almost half as much for a movie, popcorn, and a drink if you are a student. They are a little behind in an audio standpoint (but the theater is digital) but I guess it cant be completely perfect. All together, its a great place, great popcorn, great atmosphere. And you might have money left over after seeing a flick here.

St. Anthony Main Theatre is one of few remaining theatres in the area that is able to maintain the charm of classic cinemas. It is impressive that, as the only independent, first run theatre in Minneapolis, they are able to maintain ticket prices much lower than the larger theatres (AMC, Landmark). Concessions prices are significantly lower as well and they seem to be the only theatre that actually cares how their popcorn tastes. Best day to go is Tuesday, tickets are $5 all day and medium popcorn and drinks are $2 a piece as well.

I love this theater. It has a great location along the river (with free ramp parking 2 blocks away), it has very reasonable pricing (especially for students), and its run by a very friendly, knowledgeable staff that keeps the theater nice and clean. No, it does not have stadium seating. No, it does have the gigantic screens AMC has, but it does have an independent company running it that supports independent films as well as big, blockbuster movies. Also, I love the MSP International Film Festival, and will attend it every year.

I really love this theater--I love the local location so I dont have to drive far to suburbs (and I can save carbon emissions that way). Its surrounded lots of good restaurants, bars, great walks and good views of the river and the city. It has free parking. I also love that it hosts Minnesota Film Arts films and the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Fest all in one place. We no longer have to go all over the city to see multiple films--just one theater with five screens.

St Anthony Main Theatre is a classic movie theatre on the beautiful banks of the Mississippi near downtown Minneapolis. Ive been frequenting this establishment for years. I love how the staff is friendly, helpful, and cool. The atmosphere is relaxing. The food and drinks are priced realistically for a theatre. Genius tip: head to Pracna next door for a beverage, get a carry-out cup and you are set. Remember Tuesday is deal night!

I do not recommend this theater if you want to have a good time (especially with children) I wish I could give this place half a star for reasons such as disrespect, unprofessional staff, and faulty equipment. So if you want a good theater I suggested you go somewhere else (plus there was a bit of blatant racism) p.s. the popcorn was kinda stale

Good ticket prices and a great selection of movies. My favorite place to see a movie! Its nice to be by the river, greenspace and in the historical district before and after seeing a movie. The theaters and bathrooms are comfortable. Staff is always nice and helpful! I really like going here for the international film festival.
