I went to The Heights for the first time a year or so ago, just because there was a movie playing that I wanted to see. I had no idea that the experience would form into a mild addiction. The Heights has ruined it for me to go to any other theater. The Heights isnt very close to where I live (Loring Park) but now when I feel like going to a movie, the first thing I find out is what is playing at this theater. So many things just amaze me about the place. The main thing for me is that I feel like it is managed by people who love movies and love this building. It seems to be driven by a passion. Its so different from the sterile chains that are throughout the Twin Cities. What this great theater manages to do is create an environment that is almost like a living museum but still a great entertainment experience. And the organ! I generally only go to The Heights on a Friday or Saturday evenings. I dont know if its camp or what, but having someone play the massive organ instead of the inane commercials you get at the chain theaters, just makes me smile. I feel let down if I go there and no one is playing. What about the silly film clip with the women baking cookies? Thats brilliant! I look forward to the renovation of the Uptown. The Uptown always depresses me because I see the bones of a great theater that they just let fall to pieces. When I go to The Heights, I think to myself how these guys could teach the Landmark people a thing or two about how to run a theater.

Charming single-auditorium movie theater. They show first-run feature films and awesome repertory films as well. Weekend and special shows feature an organist before the 7:00pm shows. Treat yourself and go to one of their holiday films. A lot of their classic films sell out, so buy your ticket online if you dont want to be disappointed. Theres free parking in the Heightss surface lot and in the parking garage next door. The popcorn is freshly popped! The Dairy Queen next door is owned by the same people, so feel free to bring your tasty soft-serve into the theater with you.

Man do I LOVE this theater. If you are into watching indie style and classical films this is place is a definite must go to. For an oldish theater they have restored the theaters audio and picture quality so you will not see anything less from this theater than your other typical theaters in the area. The seats are comfortable, the prices are affordable, and if you get the chance, catch one of their silent film showings. They have an ACTUAL piano player come and play the films musical score

This theater is a throwback to watching movies in converted stage theaters but with the modern twist of digital projection and sound. Dont expect a diverse food menu here, the experience is in the venue itself. If you ate a bit hungry, you can purchase food from Dairy Queen next door and bring it in the theater. Ticket prices are lower than the big guys. Great to take in an older movie, independent flick or the occasional new release.

My absolute favorite theater in the world! Arrive early on a Friday or Saturday night to hear the Mighty Wurlitzer organ played. This is the very same historic organ from WCCO Radio in the early 1900s. Real butter for your popcorn and lower prices than the multiplex theaters. You can even bring your blizzard from the Dairy Queen next door! Cannot recommend this theater highly enough.

I went with a group to see a movie on a Saturday night. The theatre was a wonderful throwback, especially with the organist who was playing before the movie started. He was great, and he interacted with the audience in between songs. Meanwhile, the ticket prices were good and I could buy a large popcorn and a box of candy without taking out a loan!

This is a very neat old school theatre converted to show movies. As far as the movie viewing experience goes, the seats were comfortable, the sound was good, and the picture was nice and clear. The overall atmosphere of the place is very classic, it felt a bit like stepping back in time.

Wonderful surprise, its a great theater has all the charm of the way things where years ago1945 to 1965. I half expect a vaudeville show, but when the lady rises from the floor below playing the organ I spilled my jujubes and I laughed and remember all the great memories of the past.

I love this theater! Beautiful vintage interior with chandeliers, painted wood floors, and vintage movie posters in the bathroom. My favorite part is the live theater organist who performs before movies. A relatively small number of seats though, so get there early!

Love the movies especially the older ones, nice to see movies with people who enjoy movies as much as I do. Beautiful decor and the organ is a fun way to start. Sometimes there is a sing a long. Really nice when playing a silent movie, having real live music!

Classy and classic, this is the real deal. They still have live organ music before the maintee shows once or twice a week. I prefer this sort of local theater even if the time doesnt always meet my schedule. Ill bend myself around time itself in order to go here.

What can I say... nostalgic to the core. Im a 38 year old who likes old stuff and this place offers it the moment you walk it. Great deals on popcorn and pop. The popcorn with REAL butter is amazing. Also, being able to take Dairy Queen in is a real treat too!

I recently moved to NE Minneapolis. Prior to living here, My movie experiences were St. Anthony or Uptown theaters. The Heights, by far, is the best experience. The tickets and concessions are reasonably priced and they serve Pepsi products:)

This place is a local treasure. Yes, they still show movies, and every Christmas youll get to see "White Christmas". In addition to the movie, youll have old-timers in the business playing their fabulous organ. A great experience!

This the best theatre in Minnesota. It is a throwback of the way theatres used to be CLASSY!!!! Not the cookie cutter theatres you see now. Even if you don`t live in the area it is worth the trip to go to the Heights.

Its a great place. A restored 1926 movie theater showing both first run and classic movie. On Friday and Saturday evening they even have a live organist playing a mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ

Best theatre popcorn ever! Try to catch a time when the organist plays before the show. Quite unique. Can get your Dairy Queen next door and bring it in. Old fashion ambiance.

Oldest theater in Minneapolis. If you have not been, its a real treat. Just be prepared that its not like a major multiplex. So plan ahead for what is playing.

Beautiful old theater, remarkably cheap tickets, often shows classic movies projected on film. Its worth it to go here just for the classic theater organ.

Went here for a special event. What a great location that takes you back to an old time theatre experience! This would be the place to see La La Land.
