The course layout is A+ and the conditions are usually very good. But as any golfer would tell you, customer service and amenities are just as important when your paying $60+ for a weekday tee time. When I played it was on a Tuesday at 1pm in July. Needless to say it was very hot and humid. Well, in their infinite wisdom, they decided that there would be no beverage cart. After playing the 3 hole, we get to a much needed water cooler only to find it empty. We called the club house and we were told that someone would be there soon to "take care of us". Well the two village idiots arrived by the time we reached the next green, only to tell us they filled the cooler behind us and that they would fill the cooler on the 13th hole. I asked what good would that do us in this type of heat to not have access to water for another 10 holes. I asked if they could bring us some bottles of water. I was ignored and lied on. I went to the club house after the 9th hole and was told that I refused water. I had to threaten litigation for the negligent liability of causing us to have a heat stroke, for them to offer a bottle of water. Be sure to ask about course conditions before you pay, because they will make you pay full price, even if the course has been aerated causing the green to be less that acceptable. Lastly, there are no yardage markers!!!

Great course. My dad was in town a few weeks ago and he wanted to get out and play some golf. I usually play at either the TPC or Audubon Park in New Orleans, but I figured since he was in town from Chicago, we would play somewhere that we havent played before. I knew from reading Golf Magazine and Golf Digest that Carter Plantation was up there as the best public course in the state, so I figured we give it a go. Its about an hour drive from New Orleans, but let me tell you, it was worth every minute of the drive. Immediately upon pulling up to the clubhouse, we were greated by the staff. The cart guy got my clubs out of my trunk and got them ready on a cart. By the time the greens fees were paid, the cart had been pulled around to the front by the practice area and the rental clubs my dad got were on the cart as well. With greens fees, you get unlimited range balls, so we spent a good 20 minutes hitting balls on the range to warm up. Upon finishing that, we got out on the course. Despite the rainy week that week, the course was in really good shape. A couple of bunkers had water in them, but thats expected with 6 inches of rain over a weekend. I just cant say enough about how nice this course is. I will definitely be returning shortly to play there again. Great course, great staff. Truly money well spent out there.

This place was awesome!! Some buddies and I were in NOLA for a bachelor party weekend and decided to play some golf while there. Although this place is around 60 miles from NOLA, it is well worth the trip. The course was in pristine condition, the facilties were top-notch, and the staff were extremely helpful and seemed genuinely happy that we chose to spend our time there. On top of that, the surrounding area was very pretty as the azaleas were in full bloom when we went (end of March). This little excursion was a major highlight of our overall trip, and we plan on going back in the future!

Amazingly delicious food! I Absolutely loved working here, but after a horrible wreck(left me hospitalized with a severe concussion, fractured ankle, severely bruised hip bone & several cracked ribs)under the advice & care of my Dr., I had to miss work a few days(8 to be exact)of work,(had excuses, Chef Ryan was informed on my condition & he acted as if he understood) but upon my return to Carters Plantation I was let go & told the reason was b/c I couldnt come in after my wreck. Such a shame they do business like this..I lost all respect for them & any I had for Chef Ryan!

The greens had just been punched when I played so I was a little bit disappointed. However the rest of the course was in very good condition. The staff here went above and beyond, I felt like I was at a 5 star resort, without the price tag. I was very impressed with the upkeep of the facilities and the generosity of the employees. I would probably give them 5 stars if the greens were in better playing condition.

I gave this course a 5 because it was very well maintained-excellant condition. Food and resort amenities and service also excellant. My only complaint is the course itself didnt have enough yardage markers. Not even the 200, 150, or 100 markers in the fairway. Or GPS devises on the carts would be great.

Beautiful Course with very professional and friendly staff. This is a fantastic place to play, socialize and enjoy beautiful scenery. They also have a great restaurant on location with outstanding food. I highly recommend Carter Plantation if you are planning an event. They have this down pat.

The staff were great and the marshals very helpful. The greens are some of best I have ever played. The fairways were nothing but MUD, you dont need clubs, you need a shovel. One of member told me he doesnt cannot understand the condition. Would not pay .35 cents to play it again

My wife and I are on a quest to play golf in all 50 states, and we play a lot as it is, we enjoyed playing this course even though it was not in great shape they are still recovering from being flooded last fall. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
