This was my third Breakout Games. I decided to try with family after enjoying it a couple of times as a team-building exercise with work colleagues. The sign-up process was pretty straightforward, though I would have liked to know the minimum number of participants allowed for the room. I saw the maximum was 8, but didnt know whether wed be able to proceed with just 3 or 4, so I signed us up for an existing group of 4 strangers. Facilities are nice. Parking is limited. The waiting area could use more chairs. The two "entertainment" items--a VR headset and a photo machine--were both out of order, exactly as they were when I was last there a couple of months ago. Staff members were friendly and our game coordinator did a good job of explaining the contest after leading us to our room. The games clues and puzzles were what I remembered from other escape rooms Ive tried here: challenging enough to keep the group working, and clever. (For this reviewed game we did the Derby Heist; I previously did Casino Royale and Mystery Mansion.) I liked having a game coordinator available to offer clues when asked--but who didnt jump in unasked. He seemed to have a good overview of where we were and what wed accomplished, and clearly knew the room and its clues well. Despite missing the deadline and failing to escape, we really enjoyed the experience and are already excited to bring some visiting family members here this summer. I rate the Breakout Games in Lexington, Ky., as 5 out of 5, but do suggest they fix some broken props and make the signup rules more clear.

GREAT PLACE. GREAT STAFF. CLUES ARE SO HELPFUL (ask for them if u need them!). SO CLEAN. WELL DESIGNED. The game makes you think and makes you work as a team! Enjoy the experience as it goes by so fast. 60 minutes to Break Out!!! Our experience at Breakout Escape Games in Lexington was GREAT. My husband and I and another couple, friends of ours did the Island Escape one. We made an appt about an hour before the game for 10:20pm. We thought it was just going to be the four of us but when we arrived there, there were two other couples. A total of eight people had to work as a team to escape this Island challenge. We escaped in 40:02. It had been the best time according to the sweet girl that worked there! At the beginning of the game you get specific instructions of what to do and not to do. Some NOT to do things were really funny as youd think they were pretty much common sense things (dont climb up the wall...or the volcano). But well some ppl had done these silly things. Good thinking tho.. This was our 1st time doing Breakout. Great experience overall. All of us enjoyed it and would love to do it again. We laughed all the way home because one of our unknown teamates was extremely competitive and wanted to do everything first...and we didnt even get to ask the persons name because s/he was so into the game. We were too but we also wanted to have fun. Only 2 ppl out of the unknown four had done Breakout before.. My only suggestion is to remind people to enjoy the experience while facing the challenge.

I reserved the Derby Heist room for myself and some friends for my birthday. The location was easy to find, but parking was a little challenging. There are a limited number of spots in front of the building and all other parking is street parking. We had to park on a side street, but it was within very easy walking distance of the venue. Once inside the lady at the front, and her adorable assistant, greeted us right away and had us sign waivers. Within minutes it was time for us to go back and play our game! We were given the rules and background story and then left to our own devices. I admit, my friends and I were cocky and expected that we would be able to solve the puzzle in record time, but we were pleasantly surprised! The props for the game were realistic and fun, adding to the story line. The theme of the story was woven seamlessly into the clues as well bringing everything together. The game was challenging and required us all working together as a team to solve. We were able to breakout, but with only two minutes to spare. We all had a magnificent time and plan on going back to play The Kidnapping room very soon! If you are looking for a fun, challenging, inexpensive adventure for family, friends or coworkers you will find it at The Breakout Games.

We were a group of 6 people coming together for my sons 30th birthday. Neither one of us have been to this kind of game. When we showed up early we saw people enjoying the different rooms they had gone in. We had no idea what to expect. It blew all of our minds. We had such a great time and plan on doing it again so our other friends and family can experience the excitement. We did make it out with time to spare, but it was not easy. It was a challenge to break the code...that is what was so exciting for me. we all came together and figured it all out. Some people think its expensive, but for us it wasnt because we would have spent more just by going to the movies and eating. So thank you for a wonderful experience. WE WILL BE BACK TO BREAKOUT AGAIN!!!

Had an amazing time! Me and 3 friends did The Kidnapping and it was top notch. I was slightly worried about starting blindfolded and handcuffed, but your hands are handcuffed in front of you so you can immediately take your blindfold off and it doesnt take very long for your group to find your way out of the handcuffs. The clues were challenging and required us to really think through things, but we were able to breakout with 6 minutes to spare. Our gamemasger Joey was awesome. He paid attention to what we were doing and gently helped us out a few times to prevent us from going down a couple rabbit holes, but didnt at all feel like he solved anything for us. This was one of the most unique and fun experiences Ive had and would 100% recommend!!

Had a great time, in the "Island Room"! Pros: The staff was really friendly, the puzzles were entertaining and not so hard you couldnt solve them but not really easy either, the room was interactive. Cons: They could have invested a little more in the decoration of the room. For $25 an hour, I expect a more immersive feel. But after a while you get so focused on the puzzles you forget whats missing. Overall it was a fun night out. I will defiantly be back and try another room.

I enjoyed it. Did the Casino breakout. Think 8 people in the room is about 2 too many. Also think it would help if you were offered if you wanted a first clue or not as we were all standing around thinking somewhere we should see something that leads you to a starting point but there was nothing, until we asked for the first clue. Now that I understand how it works I would try another breakout. It was fun for some of us but not all 8 enjoyed it!
