I have played successfully with the same golf clubs for 25 years. Having heard a recommendation by one of the announcers on TV about the advancement of technology with the newest clubs over the last three years I decided it was time to get new clubs. I decide to try 2nd Swing and had $1500 cash in my pocket to eagerly spend for my new used clubs. Entering the store I was not approached by anyone and finally after 15 minutes had to search to ask for where any of the left-handed irons were. He pointed in one direction and I went back to the area of what appeared to be their selection of lefty clubs. Finally after another 15 minutes I had to search to ask someone if I could hit with the clubs I chose. The gentleman put me in a hitting area where he said "here you go" and just walked away to never be seen again. Well the instrument was not reading my hits so I asked another employee to help me. He finally got it to start registering my hits but I never saw him or anyone else again for another 30 minutes. My 2 daughters who were along were as disappointed as I was in the service. Especially since we noticed there were 6 employees and only 1 or 2 were helping customers (while the others were standing around chatting with each other). I did find the clubs I wanted. They were new Callaway Epic driver and fairway wood and steelhead design irons and I cant wait to get them in the future. But I chose to leave without purchasing from 2nd Swing because the business staff were not service friendly at all. I made sure to kindly but directly tell the employees at the front register (male & female chatting away) that they lost a $1500 dollar sale because I wasnt helped. They did not even reply. They literally just stared at me and didnt respond in anyway. My daughters and I just looked at each other in disbelief and left the premises. I dont know how 2nd Swing will continue to keep its doors open with this kind of poor customer care. I dont typically leave reviews but felt this type of poor service and lack of the concern needed to be disclosed. Dr. Thaddeus Daniel
First just want to thank the staff for staying late and getting my clubs completely specd to what I needed. To summarize, awesome experience. You walk in and are immediately greeted by everyone and someone is waiting to help you. Also big shout out to Ruben as he answered all my questions with a smile and never once made me feel like I was wasting his time. For a gear junkie like me it was near impossible to not want to walk out with other clubs aside from my irons. The place is amazing when you walk in an filled wall to wall with anything you could imagine. Ruben listened to my needs and wants from the start, from there we looked into quite a few sets that would fit my needs. We even found the set I loved from the beginning. with most fittings youll hit different options, maybe swap some shafts but this was a little bit more. I have a solid foundation on the different techs that go into shafts, clubs and everything else so it was really nice to talk with someone who knew it too. Sometimes its frustrating when you go into a store and noone listens to what youre saying because they assume you dont know equipment. This store was the opposite and in fact very appreciative that I had an idea. We talked through different options, shaft properties and what the technology was behind different heads. He also took into consideration what I liked looking at behind the ball and we hit the full spectrum of clubs, sgi to blades. Full fitting and I came out with a set I didnt truly expect. I felt bad because we decided on it, I wavered on the set make up, had him do a custom and then decided on the rack set. He still not once made me feel bad about it and even stayed late to get the work done. Overall this will be my new place to go as everyone was truly amazing to work especially Ruben from the get go. They had a large selection and definitely more than youd see walking into another retailer. They can order new equipment as well if they dont have it in stock. Thanks again 2nd Swing crew!!
I had a Nike putter that had loose weights on the putter head. I stopped at the new PGA store in Scottsdale to see if they could fix the problem. Two of their techs looked at it and were puzzled and told me I should send it back to Nike. In doing that I needed a putter in the interim. Most of their putters were well over $200. I decided to head over to the new 2nd Swing store in Scottsdale and look for a used putter at a more palatable price. I did bring my Nike putter in to see if they could fix it. They as well had not encountered that problem and suggested I send it back to Nike. I took my defective putter back to the used putters and was checking some out. Russ Higgins, the President at 2nd Swing grabbed my putter which was leaning against the wall. Russ was in Scottsdale assisting with their grand opening. I said "excuse me but that is my putter." Russ held up his phone saying he was talking with Nike about my defective putter. The tech at the front desk when I came in told him of my problem. Russ coordinated with Nike who sent him a return package with postage to return my putter. Russ let me use, gratis, a demo (used putter) until my replacement from Nike was received. He contacted me the day it arrived and made arrangements for me to pick it up. This has to be the best customer service experience I ever had! I have shared this story with many of my golf buddies. One of my pals told me he buys all his clubs and equipment at 2nd Swing even though his country club has a discount in their pro shop. He as well touted the personal, exceptional customer service he received as his reason for doing business with 2nd Swing. They have introduced "6 Star Service" to the golf business!!!!
Ive always been skeptical of getting fitted. All of my clubs have been modified by feel from loft to shafts. I came in today with hopes of maybe something good and came out with something amazing. It started with my putter yesterday. Ruben Sanchez found me the Taylormade putter I was looking for and here I come in asking for my modifications that I wanted. He asked that I just be open to get fitted and the changes are phenomenal. He set up my putter to fit me so well that I have never putted so well in my life. Then I come in today and he got right to work. Set up my irons lie and what a difference. The feel now is amazing and cleaner feel. But what Ruben did for me with my driver is mind blowing. He had me take a few swings and I believe my initial spin rate on my driver was just over 3700, he told me we had to bring it down below 3000 to get more consistency and accuracy. He brought another shaft and changed the setting on my titleist and in minutes my spin rate with the driver went down to 2800 and the distance is insane. I gained 20 plus yards in carry distance. I hit the range this same afternoon and the ball just stays in the air like it has a second wind. I used to carry the ball 285 to 290 yards, after a visit with Ruben the ball was flying passed the rear of the driving range. Cant wait to take the newly adjusted gear to the course. Ruben you rock brother. I Highly recommend the fitting at 2nd swing. Its top notch, seriously cool gear they have there to make our golfing experience from good to great.
