I and three friends played the Oconee course recently on loud way to The Masters. Its everything you would expect from a luxury Ritz resort course except for the service. Its clear that the management of this course and its hospitality are lacking from normal Ritz standards. The course seemed to be overbooked based on the starters hurried pace. The course marshals were grouchier than youd expect at a bad muni track. We were pushing up on a twosome in front of us and had a twosome behind us, so we let the twosome behind us play though to join the group in front of us...the marshal scolded us for that (I would have thought hed thank us). He and another marshal repeatedly told us to hurry up despite the fact that we were almost always waiting on the group in front of us to tee off. The most outrageously "Non-Ritz Carlton moment" was at the turn where the starters were herding us through like cattle...we asked if we could grab a quick snack and go to the restroom and the starter said "You dont have time! Just go piss in the pine trees!" Really? Thats not what you would expect for a $300 round of golf. I could get uromysetisis and die! When we mentioned it to the marshal on the back nine he challenged us by asking "Who said that? What was his name?" It was pretty remarkable...at the conclusion I expected a manager or someone to be waiting for us to apologize...but there was nothing, not even a bag boy to take out clubs or clean them. The restaurant (Linger Longer steakhouse) was ok, but also seemed mismanaged. Many tables not bussed, half the restaurant blocked off as not available and the half we could be seated at had all dirty tables. The service in the restaurant was good though, as was the food. The golf course itself was spectacular and in great shape. All in all a beautiful place with all the potential in the world, but they charge like a Ritz but provide Wal-Mart service, so not worth it.

I went to the Ritz Carlton on Lake Oconee for lunch and parked up front. Im familiar with the place as I live near by and Ive been a guest there several times. I emerged from my vehicle and with the sun reflecting down on me I failed to see the curbstone in front of my car and I kicked it with my big toe. The hotel staff where helpful as they usually are in coming to my aid. After contemplating the situation I was concerned that there is no signage warning you to watch your step or better yet, painting the curbstone so it doesnt blend into the environment. I drew this to the attention of the individual in charge of loss prevention and his reply was that he heard my accident was very minor so no changes would be made. Over time Ive realized that once you peel back the layers their fastidious attention to detail is only skin deep. Push them and one comes to the realization that their loving attitude is only superficial and that their caring attitude quickly goes away. In time it became apparent that no changes would be effected as they simply ruled that nothing like this has happened before so it must simply be negligence on my behalf. When I mentioned the word attorney to loss prevention I was asked to leave the premises. I have since tried to state my misgivings to their claims department who dismissed my case with an offering of no changes whatsoever but they would settle my case with a check for $150.00. I have never been so insulted in my life! My hope was that I could prevent an elderly person suffering a similar or worse accident but my pleadings simply fell on deaf ears.

As my husband and I visited Reynolds Plantation Ritz Carlton, for our Anniversary 10/25 & 10/26. The check-in staff person was very welcoming & accommodating, but the rest of the staff not so much. There was a really old stiff racist feel that we felt from staff and even other guest alike. We went down to the Georgias to have dinner and the hostess asked us "how may she help us" I instantly thought, this is a restaurant isnt it? Normally, my husband tends to overlook abnormal rude behavior but this time, he pause and said "Are you closed, were here to eat." The normal thing to say is "Good evening, seating for two?" Or something of that nature. The food wasnt good at all and my dish actually made me sick. Im not a picky eater and it takes a lot to make me have a stomach ache. At 5:30am we heard someone or people in the room above ours sounding like the were moving furniture! I couldnt believe it. I called the front desk hours later asking if they had some remodeling or construction going on. They said no, but I couldnt believe I could hear so clearly noise coming from another room! Over all, I just think the service and the rooms are average for the price. There is nothing extraordinary or exclusive about the Ritz. The rooms are clean, but I dont expect to stay in any nasty hotel room. The grounds are kept exceptionally well and the property is beautiful. This is not my first stay at a Ritz property. The expectation is to have an experience unlike any other hotel brand significantly lower priced. It was just okay.

After years of wanting to come but not being able to afford it we bit the Bullet and spent $1,000.00 per night for club level room with a lake view. Club level means food and drink included at the private club on the fifth floor, where you cant select the fifth floor without a fifth floor room key. Brand name alcohol all day as well. (Johnnie Walker Black was offered for my husband) The food and service at the club was excellent. After each employee asked where we were from we felt like each were programmed to say the same things to each guest, a bit creepy and disingenuous. While we enjoyed the club level, the pool, the lake and all of the activities I feel the rooms are due for renovation. None of the beds are new or comfortable, the roll away mattress we ordered for our son squeaked each time he moved and he felt the mattress coils all night. My husband met a cockroach at 1 am in the bathroom and that was the end of sleep for him! (That was after they moved us to a suite!!) The first room had the shower inside the tub, in 2017 with what they charge for a room its time to upgrade!! The staff is extremely helpful and remembered our names and that was really nice. We went to Gabys for supper one night and couldnt find our server ever. Overall I doubt wed go back to this property or to a Ritz Carlton again, too much competition in this price range of hotels that wed try instead.

Our first stay at the Ritz Lake Oconee was a great experience. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Many of the employees fawned over our dog, Creek. He was welcomed with open arms. We stayed on Club Level. Food was outstanding and excellent service. The staff really works hard to make sure everyone has a great stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Make sure to reserve restaurants well in advance, especially on weekends. Locals love the Ritz too and it can get a bit crowded at times. Saturdays they have been turning away anyone without a room at the entrance due to the overcrowding at the pool and Gabys (restaurant bar on the water by the pool). Kristy Cunningham, the manager on duty during our stay was superb and helped out tremendously. We celebrated my brothers birthday and will be back for his wedding. As always a very kid friendly Ritz resort. Smores every night and outdoor activities from fishing to basketball, swimming and more. No indoor electronic game room which I personally think is great. Keeps the kids outdoors where they should be. There are games including checkers, chess and pool inside as well. Overall this is one of my favorite Ritz properties and we will definitely return soon.
