Revised Review 08/2014: So we went back and this time our experience was horrible! It was not very busy but our service was lacking. Very slow and most of the servers were goofing around so much that customers were being ignored. The food that was so good the first time was a complete miss this time. We again had the grouper and mac n cheese but it was flavorless and cold. The cheese had started to separate and curdle??? The texture was just awful. The portions on our first visit were huge but half the size on this visit. I asked if our server accidently gave us the lunch portion but he said "No". Not sure why there was such a considerable difference? On a positive note, the kids still had fun feeding the water animals and the fried pickles were amazing...this time! I might give this place one more try since our first visit was stellar. (First visit) We were a little apprehensive about eating here after reading some poor reviews but am so glad we did! Beautiful atmosphere, awesome and attentive wait staff, and the food was great. It may have been the time of day we chose to go (around 5pm on a Thursday) but we could not have been more pleased. We had chips and queso, blackened grouper, mac n cheese, giant baked potato, hush puppies, and coleslaw. Everything was absolutely delicious! Very family friendly with corn hole games and bags of food to feed the fish, turtles, and ducks. My 3 year old was very entertained the whole time. We will without a doubt definitely be back!

Jen the bartender is the Hottest Ive ever seen. Lance the manager is the coolest ever. The place is the best ever. But food and drinks are way to expensive. On Aug 6th on Sunday. I went to the Rudder my favorite place to have dinner. Pulled up a chair at the tiki bar as there was only 1 other person setting there shortly after I arrived. No bartender was present but other people were sitting at tables and bar was open. I waited for over 35 minutes before going inside to be waited on by the most gorgeous bartender ever JEN. Placed my order got my drink all in just 5 minutes after I went inside. Still love this place but they need 2 people at the tiki bar at all times. I came back first time in months and Jen the bartender is gorgeous as ever and the best ever. I ordered the loaded baked potato and when it came out. It was hard and cold and not much stuff in the potato. Jen sent it back to have it warmed up and when it came back it just didnt have everything a loaded bake potato supposed to have in it. All it had was some bacon bits and cheese.. no garlic. No butter no chives no sour cream. And the potato tasted very old. Everything is usually very good at the rudder but dont waste ur money on there so called loaded bake potato

This would be a great place to put a real restaurant! We waited for an hour to be seated, certainly understandable for a Saturday night. While we waited we sat at the bar and ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer. It was pricey at $10 for 5 shrimp and they were average at best. Once we were seated, we ordered right away. We waited, and we waited, and we waited. While we were waiting, we noticed that other tables were not being served either. The waitress politely made excuses and said the food was on the way, just a few more minutes, etc. After waiting for 1 hour and 15 minutes, we left. Shame on the management at this place for not being direct and honest with the customers about their poor service. And shame on the management for making the wait staff apologize for your incompetence. Simply unacceptable. And sadly there were people still waiting to be seated as we left. Wonder if they would have stayed knowing they were in for a 2.5 hour stay?? The previous establishment in this location was managed so much better! What a disappointment.

Poor food and poor service. Not a manager in sight. Really wanted to like it. They were out of almost half the menu. If you were going to be out of that many items its time to pull the menu and save face for the restaurant. I even tried calling the restaurant to speak to a manager after we left and of course got a recording. Left a message with my contact info. Do you think we got a call back? Of course not. What a shame such a beautiful restaurant and location. As a restaurant owner myself I am disgusted. Beware of frozen food charged high dollar prices. Too bad the owners probably wont address this problem. If the owners ever want to sell I would buy this beauty in a second and do this place justice. Until then beware of an over priced experience. A message to the owner....do something about this NOW before you run off all the business

I have been to the Rudder several times. Sometimes there are long wait times, sometimes poor service and our food always takes forever. We go back because we enjoy the atmosphere, the fact its on the lake and the bands. But tonight was the worst and they werent even busy. Our service was terrible as we watched our server stand around and goof off. The food took forever and you could tell that our dishes had sat in the window for quite awhile. Plus, we didnt get all that we had ordered and once again watched as our server stood around before getting the rest of what we ordered. Terrible all the way around. So disappointed. :(

Great atmosphere but thats where it stops. The pricing has changed drastically. If you want a hamburger and fries prepare to have your wallet robbed its $14.00 thats if you dont want a Coke which is an extra $3.25. Do you want cheese add another 1.25. We used to eat dinner here twice a week and only spend 20.00 bucks. I dont know what happened over the winter but well be going to Burger King and going to eat it at the park by the lake for the same atmosphere and 1/4 the price and better foot to boot. Awedaddys in Gallatin is far better and priced reasonable.

the rudder has been a discovery for me and my family from south nashville. very nice for those who would like to escape before the 7 oclock folks come in.nice staff, good food great happy hour...until the OWNER RUINED it. they no longer have two for one beers. happy hour goes to six and they jacked up the prices on a lot of food items. so im sad to say that i will not be going to the rudder any more. as i looked around though, i noticed that there was plenty of empty tables. so you wont have a problem with their "new and approved " happy hour.

We came on a dreary Tuesday night after a rain filled day. It was slow, but the relaxing views and live music by Jeff Blaney set the perfect atmosphere for a great night out! Vern and Debra, the owners, welcomed us and made us feel at home. The food was FANTASTIC and their specialty drink, the Bushwacker, was the perfect blend of chocolate, coffee and a kick. Anchor High has been the highlight of our honeymoon to Nashville! I would recommend this place to everyone under the sun!
