Awesome! This local theatre is technically a non-profit thats tied to the Sarasota Film Festival. That means you can see some of the best art-house flicks without being in a big time city. The seats are on the newer side, making the environment comfortable. Tickets are $8 for non-members and $5 for members. The staff is mostly theatre geeks who love the cinema. Parking is the only headache because theres nothing right there, but you have plenty of choices on neighboring streets. #Sarasota #Movies

This is a hard one to rate. It reminds me of the thalia art theater on Broadway in New York City. It has all the pluses, the films worth seeing. There may be a terrible one thrown in every 100 movies The price is reasonable especially for a member, which I am not. The lines outside are a social occasion, where youll meet your complete set of intellectual friends. But the walls remind me of Russia, paper thin and if Im watching some romantic flick I may also be hearing the war movie from next door.

Parking is on the street; sweet area and not crowded during day on weekdays. Firm notice about turning off your cell phones, a bit too firm for me...Lots of elderly and was firmly asked during previews by a rude elderly man if we planned on talking during the movie... Didnt let his ugliness distract from our enjoyment of the movie! Not sure if Ill return unless its the only place showing what I want to see.

One of the sexiest, polished, and prestigious theatres that Ive ever been to. This place epitomizes the concept of Indie --- Indie at its best! I was honored to have viewed Maos Last Dancer here at this theatre and after a powerful movie like that, walking out into 70+ degree weather, viewing the skyline of Sarasota....I promise you, you need this in your life...Immediately if not sooner!

Sarasota is very fortunate to have a movie theater run by a film society whose focus is delivering great cinema. Burns Court Cinema has been here a long time and I cant imagine Sarasota without it. As a former New Yorker, it adds an element of culture that makes living here worthwhile. Thank you Sarasota Film Society; our city is so much cooler because of you.

Its a FABULOUS venue! BUT ... either my bums gotten less fat (no way), or their chairs have gotten harder. Either way, sitting through a 90-minute movie is agonizing, even with wine! I urge the board to fundraise for comfy seats. Hubby and I have already decided to give this theatre a pass for future movies...and its not a happy decision. Its a necessity.

An Excellent experience! The staff are amazing especially the extremely friendly girl who made me consider becoming a member of the Sarasota Film society! They serve excellent wine and their movies are mostly top notch. I would recommend this theatre to all who want to enjoy something other than regular american cinema. 5/5

Wonderful get away. lived in Sarasota for 17 years and Im so happy to have a theater like this close by. Wonderful choices of movies, great staff! Very homey feeling, wouldnt know what to do without a theater like this one that offers not so ordinary films, which is a relief from all the Hollywood chaos.

Great "Art Theater". Enjoy a glass of wine with your popcorn while watching an evocative film. Located the charming historical Burns Court area of Sarasota. Quaint little shops and restaurants close by; Owens Fish Camp (dinner only) being one of my favorite places to dine after theater.

Love the independent movies but the seats are so uncomfortable from hardly any padding, also make sure you dont see a movie in the tiny theater there its like watching a film on a 70 inch TV. Prices are very reasonable for snacks and a plus for serving wine and beer.

I was visiting Sarasota and I wanted to watch a movie called Christine interesting about a girl from Sarasota, so this was the only cinema playing the movie, and the experience was superb this is a very intimate place, very cultural and the movie was amazing.

One of the few independent theatres - great downtown location. Focus is on independent and foreign films - they serve their own menu ranging from wines to imported beers. Highly recommend checking our a film here and mingling with the locals.

I love the movies that you can see at Burns Court. I cant believe the people that complain about the seats or the small screen. Maybe it really a complain about the type of movies that are viewed. Its a great little theater!

Its a small theatre ran by the local film society. They routinely show movies that you may not find at your Larger theatres. They serve beer and wine. The screens are smaller. The employees are always friendly.

Cute movie theater for more independent fare. Obviously not the stadium style seating everyone has become accustomed to, but they do show better movies. Movie screen had some marks, though.

Besides the best popcorn, this indie theater is intmate, totally retro local, and in a historic neighborhood, within walking distance several local restaurants. A nice place for a date.

I liked the friendly staff and the theater was a little smaller. The movie was good of course and I could have my favorite tea while I watched. The rates are reasonable.

Local arts cinema with all the latest indie fare. Only deficiency is very small theaters and screen sizes. Nice, very-busy restaurant, Owens Fish Camp, next door.

I love this gem of a theater and enjoy the opportunity of seeing indie/foreign films. It is 200 miles round trip to your theater and have made it many, many times.

"Mr. Holmes" a weird film. McKellens face is wonderful. BUT PLEASE, Mr. PRIME MINISTER, give us subtitles so that we can understand what English actors say.

Ive been a member several years but no more. They need to be nicer to members. I see movies here others dont show. Small and usually crowded.
