I have been coming to this theater for years. It use to be great. I would bring the kids because tickets are cheap and it used to be clean. Over the last three years it has really really gone down hill. The seats in the theater smell and are very stained. The floors are sticky and look like they may be mopped once a month. The bathrooms are gross mold growing behind the toilets, dirty counter tops, and dont even get me started on the back side of the doors in the stalls. I say use the bathroom elsewhere before you come. Because the rest rooms are so bad I will not order anything to eat or drink at this theater. I dont want to get sick. And if you cant keep the place clean I doubt they are cleaning the food area very well either. There is mold on the ceiling tiles from water leaks or no tiles at all. I think if the owner would put just a little bit of money into repairs, and had someone come in and deep clean the place, and teach the staff how to keep up on it, It would be a booming theater again. People would want to go in and take there family and friends. But at this point it is just going to close sooner rather than later. The pros- are the staff is nice not great but nice, easy to get to, and the tickets are cheap. Cons- Dirty dirty dirty. Time for a remodel or at least a sprucing up.

I have been noticing what looks like the homeless, panhandlers and I really believe substance abuse miss fits coming in and sitting in the theater. Last weekend 2 of them even brought in their homeless baggage. I believe after getting enough panhandling money or Welfare checks its a cool (or warm) place for them to sleep or hang out for the day. I had a run in with one of persons during a daytime movie we were attending in the theater while with my wife. There was a clear strong odor of alcohol coming from him when I told him to stop his behavior around my wife and I. I asked for the theater manager and explained what happened and he quickly confirmed my thinking by saying he knew the person and typical activities. Its a shame Parkway does not see how this is damaging its future. Its possible the quality of help Parkway hires thinks druggies and miss fits are wonderful people to be around, have conflicts with and smell. Parkway how about allowing persons that pay to come in permits them 1 (one) movie and then leave that way it may stop some of this vagrant activity and abuse to other clean well behaved movie goers?

This place is a gift to the community. You would think that youre paying the prices in some Faraway country. They manage to beg or connive first-rate movies to show at the theater, a few months after they come out. For me they are the place I go when I want to see second-rate movies that are only worth the $2.50. Most theaters charge $11 for the bombs. I could fault them for their bathrooms but as I said there is a slight aspect of a third world country. To there credit they have fixed at least three of the broken water fountains and now you actually have a choice between number 1 2 3 4 and 5. But I am being petty. If any movie theater deserve to set up a second theater downtown or South Sarasota they do. The people who own it are lovely people.

MARIJUANA USE! Manager Christine (Christy?) & worker (heavy-set young man with curly hair) were smoking Marijuana on the steps of the rear exit. They left the exit door cracked and the Marijuana smoke was filling the theaters hallway. Meanwhile my 8 year old is asking "what is that smell?" Not exactly the best Family place. When attempting to contact the Owner, Im never able to reach him via telephone to report this unethical behavior of his employees & they are never able to provide his email address. I know its hard to find hard working people but drugs at the work place is unreal! They werent even trying to hide their drug use... makes you wonder what other drugs they are using... :-(

For the price it cant be beat! Keep in mind that your only paying $2.00 to see a movie on a large screen before it comes out on DVD. The theater has always been clean with restrooms with toilet paper, soap, and paper towels. The sound and the screen are in good working order. Prices for food are a little less than regular movie theaters but with the discounted tickets, it makes it overall affordable. Update: We went on 01-21-16 and my husband said the mens restroom was not clean and smelled bad of urine. The ladies bathroom seemed clean and had no odor.

I have previously enjoyed visiting Parkway 8 to catch up on movies missed first time around. However, last night my husband and I travelled 41 miles in order to see Fantastic Beasts which we had checked had a listing time of 7.35pm that evening only to be told at the Box Office that the movie had been cancelled. Surely this fact should have been stated on the website for listings which would have saved us a round trip of 82 miles and the cost in wasted time and gas. Simply not good enough!

If you are looking for low cost entertainment then this will work, but keep the following in mind when deciding: It is a bit run down, the theater smells, the cleanliness of it is questionable, some of the movie screens have tears in them, and most of the movies selections are low rated by critics and movie goers. Sometimes you will find a highly rated movie that you really want to see though. In that case you may be okay with the other shortcomings in order to save money.

Love this place! The staff are so friendly, unlike the drones at regular theaters. The price is awesome and makes seeing a movie even more of a good thing. Popcorn is fresh and affordable. My husband and I get in and out with a medium popcorn and soda for $15 including tickets. That is usually the price of one ticket at a normal theater! Dont know what previous reviewers are talking about with the smell- it just smells like a movie theater.

This place was awesome. Staff was really respectful and nice, the theatre was pretty well kept (could tell it was a dollar theater, but it just added to the experience. It only cost two of us $4! I cant think of anything we can do in sarasota for 2 hours that only costs $4! We went around 4p.m. and there had to be about 60 retirees and the 2 of us college students, which made for a quite movie. I recommend trying this place out

Love this movie theater. Its quiet Clean and only $3 for movies that are not too old. This is the only way I can afford to take my family to see a movie. The other local movie theaters showing new releases cost my family of 3 around $70-$80 for 3 tickets 2 lg. Drinks, a lg. popcorn and candy for my son. However parkway still gives my family the whole "movie experience" with all the added goodies for only a fraction of the cost.
