This is usually my favorite theatre to come to, but after my treatment last night that will probably change. Ive never had a service experience as unproductive and displeasing as this in my life, but last night I was shocked by the attitude of one young lady at concessions. Being someone with CF, its often difficult for me to sit through a movie without having a terrible coughing fit that disrupts everyone else, so whenever I go to Biltmore or any other theatre, Ill typically ask for a cup of water. This is usually not a problem but when I asked this cashier for one along with my order, she gave me a very small cup which was to be expected. I know a lot of theatres have policies regarding fountain cups and I didnt blame her for this. When I asked if I could get a larger cup however she was very blunt and rude with me, saying no and giving me no consolation. I explained my situation to her in as few words as I could and she said absolutely nothing to me, only gave me a blank stare for several moments before asking me to leave so she could help the next customer. Feeling my condition beginning to flare, I caved and bought a coke for four dollars, filling it with water from the fountain instead. Im not so much displeased with the policy as I am the treatment I received. While I was filling up my cup I even heard the cashier go as far as to joke about our transaction with a coworker. Ive worked in service before and I know how miserable it can be, but I could never imagine acting the way she did towards a guest or customer. I expect more than apathy from this theatre.

I wont visit this theatre again after an incidence last year. At the time I was a single Mom to two special needs foster children and we had had a long week. I needed a break for just a couple of hours so I was able to find a qualified and approved babysitter, not easy with foster children, and thought Id relax at a matinee. Because I was a little nervous about leaving the kids with a sitter, I kept my phone on silent, not vibrate but silent, and put it beside me in the seat, in my view but not in the view of any of the other 6 people in the theater. Before the movie even started, an usher came down to the couch I was sitting on and told me that I needed to stop checking my phone so much and that I needed to put it out of view. I looked at him incredulously and slightly laughed because I was honestly thought he had to be talking to the wrong person. I hadnt checked my phone other than to put it on silent, we were still sitting through the the previews, and the closest person to me was more than 6 feet behind me on another couch. He then said that if I thought it was funny I could leave. I sat back, crossed my legs, and tucked my phone under my butt. He glared at me then walked away. I decided then that I wouldnt go back but having spent nearly $30 on a ticket and a meal, which I thought initially that the usher was being polite to come get my tray, I decided I wanted to see this movie and try to relax for a little while before the kids and I started another week. But I wont go back and I dont recommend it.

Its disappointing to see so many poor reviews which sour a great theatre with a novel approach. This is a place where you can eat real food (bordering healthy - gasp!) and have a beer or glass of wine with your show. This is the future of movies! Granted, it is inchoate and still on its way to being excellent. While the theatres themselves appear to have only some of the renovation from its Regal demise, the rest of the place got a huge facelift. I found the seats extremely comfortable as an average sized man. The picture quality was excellent with crisp focus and good sound (saw film "Inglorious Bastards" and later a 1080p live telecast of "A Christmas Sweater") Theres a bar/lounge upstairs which could offer the chance of a destination, not just a see a film and run to get food/friends somewhere else. The food has a nice range from traditional popcorn/candy to greek salads and panini sandwiches. Their focus on local brews and eco wines is also refreshing. You will encounter movie-theatre pricing (salad $8, soda $4, wine $6), but if expected, this can be a really great experience. I give the concept huge credit - this is where movie theatres need to go!

DONT GO TO THIS THEATER. The only good things about this theater is the food and the indie movies. The worst part has to be the giant red glow on the side of the screen from the exit sign. Its really annoying. The seats are all on the same level, so you cant see over the people in front of you, and even if you can, the glow from all of the iphones of all the dumb Asheville hipsters sitting in the front row is extremely annoying (dont worry, they like to talk during the movie, too). The walls are paper-thin too. You cant help hearing the loud, generic blockbuster films playing adjacent to your movie. Youll see (literally) why the tickets are so cheap when you get to watch the movie. The couches are not easy to sit upright in. Someone with back pain would hate it. Ive been there 4 times and one of those times, the housekeeping staff stole my wallet and the theater said it wasnt their fault. The Biltmore theater is 10x better and its right down the road.

Weve grown to love the Carolina. In contrast to opinions mentioned below, we find the amenities to be as good or better than any other theater in the area. In fact, the small theater spaces offer an intimate, comfortable (can you imaging being able to put your feet up on a comfortable hassock while watching a movie?!) setting in which to watch "films," and the large theaters are every bit as comfortable and spacious (even for big people) as any other theater in the area. The decor, in general, is much more imaginative than one usually finds in a theater; popcorn good; beverages, etc. well selected. FYI The sound can only be as good as the original films sound track. Weve found its sound comparable, again, to other theaters in the area. Last but not least, please consider supporting a local-to-the-Carolinas business!

They had ghost in the Shell listed for November 11th and 12th. I called up there coming from greer. Turns out there listing was wrong. He tried to say it came out only Monday on the 11th. The 11th is Tuesday today and it shows for tomorrow as well. Well we have no idea he said. O wait he says this is the manager also, its next Monday the 16th but Im not showing any showtimes for it and we cant promise we will show it. Also we dont use fandango. So I called carmike 6 or 5 that was a little further. There last showing was at 730 tonight,no 910 so it screwed everyone who was going plans up. I got tickets for next Monday at carmike. The front counter person at carmike knew more than the manager at this crap theater. Also they use fandango like people with some accountability and know how.
