Glenys van Aswegen
Hi, My name is Glenys van Aswegen and I am from South Africa. I am here visiting my daughter in Denver and we visited the museum yesterday. My first impression of the museum was great. The facility is clean and the displays are informative and very interesting. However, I was a little saddened when I walked through the farm section of the museum. It was a very hot day and the sheep were all fighting for a little shade created by the fence enclosure. There is no natural shade for these poor animals. Also their water was filthy and standing in the baking sun!!! The rams enclosure was even more distressing. He was just lying in the baking sun and his water was so contaminated with mosquito lava that I cant imagine when last it was actually cleaned. The turkeys were walking around in their very uninteresting enclosure, panting from the heat and there was no water in sight!!! The pig looked comfortable enough but even his enclosure was extremely poor and dirty. I think the "Littleton Museum" should take a good look at the image they are wanting to create - especially in the farmyard area. The basic requirements for keeping animals is very basic - a good enclosure, protection from the elements, fresh water and clean food. I think the museum has failed to conform with these basic requirements and feel that an animal inspection should be made to your facility. Kind regards Animal activist.

This place would be great if the animals were better cared for. Surprised by all the great reviews of people who bring kids here. Is that how you want your kids to treat other living beings? Its was around 90 degrees some animals had no shelter and some had no water. Some animals had water but it was very very dirty. My kids are still upset about how they saw these animals kept. Hopefully someone will read this and change some things because everything else was so cool and i loved it

The Littleton Museum is a must visit whenever you need a break, have friends and family in town, interact with your kids or grand kids, simply relive your childhood or learn what it was like to live in the area during the 1880s - early 1920s. We love visiting again and again. The entire museum indoors and out is a Colorado gem! Mike & Kathy Macey ColoradoMuseums.CO

My middle school daughter and I really enjoyed the outside stuff - buildings, a pond, and especially the blacksmith. I dont know if you call the find out when hes working or what, but hes very pleasant and fun to watch.

Been here many times from when I was a kid, very well informed staff, plus, there is Kettering Lake right there. Just good fun to grow up down in this area. Go to the museum, and picnic by the lake.

A museum with exhibits of local history and art along with traveling exhibits. The grounds also contain a farm with animals and community garden. Most of the activities are free.
