IT WAS HORRIBLE! this place doesnt even deserve a star. (Im only speaking about this one in Baton Rouge when I say this.) My good friend Taylor had never been to a movie tavern and so I suggested watching “London Has Fallen” at the Movie Tavern in Baton Rouge Louisiana. As soon as we got to our theater (Number 9) a stench hit us, like sweaty bowling ally shoes, but sadly that was the least of our worries. Our waitress came out to take our order during the previews, after some difficulties with her electric ordering pad she took our order of barbeque boneless wings. Not long after the movie started, a waiter came out with game day sliders, which we said were not our order. Our main waitress came back out and with the same sliders (wrong order) with which we then stated our order once more. Roughly 30 minutes went by without our right order coming so we pressed the blue table button. While we waited for our waitress to come we saw her bringing other peoples orders all around us. Every person in the theater had his or her food, some of which who placed an order after us, and we were still waiting for our waitress. Our waitress came back, empty-handed, to turn off our button and see what we needed. I asked her how much longer the wait would be and she informed us rudely “Kitchen is busy”. After that a longer period went by of waiting and I was scared we weren’t going to receive our meal until the movie was over so I walked out and tried to find our waitress in the kitchen area, or the manager. I found her near a different theater down the hall. When I reached her I saw that she was holding something that looked like our order so I asked her “Is this my order?” She nodded. I told her I could take it back with me and asked her “May I have utensils please?” She stared at me. So I asked her what was wrong to which she didn’t answer, just stared me down some more. Then I asked her if she was ok to which see said she was busy then walked away. I followed her hoping that she would give me some silverware. She did and I wished her a good rest of the night and took the food to my friend and I. By this point I had missed a good portion of the movie that I really wanted to see and when my friend Taylor and I began to eat the chicken it was cold. When the check came my friend Taylor said quietly “We are not going to pay for this. If you want we can talk to the manager.” By then the movie had about five minutes left. Right after the movie we went to speak to the manager. What I was most appalled by was the manager’s attitude. After explaining the story to him, he was only concerned with the fact that since we ate the some of the food he believed we had to pay for it. There was no getting through to him about the lack of respect demonstrated by the employees. I was disappointed in the fact that he wanted us to pay the full price for the meal that we had to physically go and get. I then brought up getting the meal for a discounted price, because a customer should not have to work so hard to have a pleasurable experience at this establishment. This manager continued to make excuses for why this was tolerable. He even went as far as to tell us all of the things we should have done which included all of the things we did, like pressing the button for our waitress and asking for the manager. We even took it a step further in looking for our waitress or really anyone. A good manager is someone who has character and directs a business and all of his or her employees with integrity but this man did not fulfill that responsibility nor does he deserve the title.

Well tonight was my second visit to this location. The first Visit was Horrible and this one was no better. I have been to a Movie Tavern location in Tx that was awesome as well as Star Cinema and Grill in texas which is awesome and same type of venue. First Visit- Upon walking in I had a good feeling that food would be ok and the place had a feel of like a Chilis Bar or Applebees. Was I wrong. I made the mistake of ordering Fish Tacos. I made myself finish one. Which nearly made me sick. When I told the waitstaff that the food was not good and that it smelled strong and didnt taste well and that i had nearly threw up from it. The waitress went and got the manager and told him I said I wasnt hungry and changed my mind due to that. Which was not the case. On my receipt They took the tacos off after arguing with them and they put Customer changed mind. I left a note on the ticket explaining the situation. I was sick the next day with what was most likely food poisoning. Visit Two- Same look walking in. Felt that maybe it was just a wrong food choice last time. This time I would go safe with a Hamburger. We arrived in our seats @6:40pm for a 7:10pm start time. Looked over the menu had the button pushed for service by 6:50pm that way we could eat and relax during the movie. 7:05pm the waitress shows up for order whichwas perfect timing . We made our complete orders of drinks and food from App to desert. That way we didnt have to interrupt the others viewing. During which I was told they were out of at least 4 different items I tried to order (food and drinks). About an hr into the movie they bring one drink for my girlfriend and inform me that they are out of the beer i ordered, so i ordered an unsweet tea. 15-20 mins later our app shows up and i let the waitress know i still have no drink. She then tells my They are out of tea. And suggests a coke which i accept. And she brings it. Movie is about to end she shows up with ticket saying she was going to have a cake removed due to us not getting, yet we never ordered cake and told her that. When we over heard her tell the people down the row that they were out of the cake also anyway. And she wasnt seen again. We never received Our meals either one, or the desert which was some cookie thing. On our way out i offered to pay for my girls drink but the manager said not to worry about it. On a positive note I know I wont be dealing with food poisoning. During the movie they were loud right behind us with meal carts and such. The speaker above where we were seated sounded blown, The star earned is for the seats. They are great. I think the potential is here for this place to be great. The walk in atmosphere is very nice, but the wait staff is under trained and the food staff needs a revamp. I wont be back for a long time. Sorry for writing a novel but I feel this should be known.

I USED to drive to N/O Canal Place Theater to see a movie and be served a meal prepared by a renowned N/O chief, in comfortable seats, friendly staff and a operation that is run like a well oiled machine (in every way), so when I heard that The Movie Tavern was opening, I was VERY excited. (I am embarrassed to say according to my AMC Stubs Card, I spend about $2,000 a year on movies, and that is just at AMC theaters)! However, movies are my THING! This theater is the most HORRIBLY run operation Ive ever encountered. I have been about a dozen times with friends, and they ALWAYS mess up your order, they talk loud during the movie ie "No sir you ordered a COKE, not a diet Coke or they just take away the wrong food/drink order and never return with the correct one. You can push that blue button til your hearts content, it takes well over 15 minutes to come to your seat where I say , NICELY never had my CORRECT order brought to me Ive had them tell me DONT keep pushing that button, Im only one person". In N/O the waiters speak in a hushed manner, they bend over so as not to obstruct your view, these people wouldnt be that considerate even if they knew you were going to tip 25%-30%! ALL 12 movie experiences Ive had there Ive had to WAIT for the CHECK or the CORRECTED CHECK to be brought to me. People all around me are saying the same thing, and LEAVING WITHOUT PAYING!! I would NEVER do that! So I wait and wait, finally going to the ticket attendant to tell them Id like to PAY for my meal, to which I get "Well, I dont know who your server is or what movie you saw, she/he should be out here soon, just wait! I wait and wait, he/she FINALLY does come out and I say NICELY "Im sorry, but I would like to pay for my meal, please Then its what seat were you sitting in, what did you order yada yada. Once Ive paid and left her a 25% tip (its may sound stupid, but I believe Karma will get you in the end, and these people survive on their tips, being paid way way below the minimum wage) he/she walks away, no THANK YOU, no Im SORRY for the wait"....guess Im gong to give the NEW Juban Crossing a try, if it is the same as CitiPlace, Im back to going to New Orleans! Its a shame, Ive always said Baton Rouge NEEDED a place like this, but never would I have imagined it would be like this!!!! Sorry for the long rant, but I NEEDED to vent, Ive talked to management and they told "Im sorry, but we are aware of the situation and hopefully your next visit will be better! OH, and PS, you dont get utensils, the food is cold, you wait and wait for your change, if they do actually bring you the check, and then the server just takes it for granted that you dont want your coin change! I deduct that from my 25% tip and write a note about them keeping part of my change!
