Stunning theatre. I went here for Cinequest Film Festival to see the Sapphires and it was such a blast. The building makes you feel like you have stepped back in time to a more glamorous day and time. There is an option to sit either at the orchestra level or in the balcony, and both are great. The architecture is absolutely beautiful, and it is hard not to get distracted by it and want to just stare at it when a movie is playing (not in a bad way, in a great way actually). Overall, this theatre truly is the full vintage experience.

Beautiful and retro, the California Theatres marquee is matched and succeeded by its gorgeous interior. The home of Opera San Jose, it provides an intimate showcase for their quality versions of operas classics. Check their website for matinees if you want to go for cheaper and see if the opera or symphony are for you!

We had dinner with a close friend on Saturday night.The food was really delicious, our server gave us timely, courteous service, and the atmosphere was lively but with the ability to still hear the wine glasses tinkling. I had the scallops loved em.

Phenomenal building - the detail in the architecture and ceiling is phenomenal. Cons - was in the upper balcony and it was extremely hot. Had some audio issues early on. Not sure if this was the fault of the show or theatre, so marking as 4 stars

The inside of this building ornately reflects the rich theatregoing traditions of the past, but modern seats, elevators, and bathrooms make the theatre a comfortable and easy place to enjoy yourself as well.

Came here with friends to see Chris Hardwick, it was a small, intimate theater. I liked it a lot. The ushers were awesome. They sold adult beverages and the show was hilarious. Good times, good venue.

Really nice theater. Has a great historical feel but was warm and clean when we went. We were put in a private room because we had a baby, which was very pleasant and was perfect for us.

Beautiful interior design and very good acoustics. Theatre organ in the lobby provides an enjoyable prelude to the days concert. Nice assortment of snacks for intermission.

Ive seen many an opera here over the years and it is always a great experience. Go early so you can hear the organist play some tunes before the show starts!
