Literally one of my 5 favorite restaurants in the world. If it was an option I would give this place a 4.5, because the burger wasnt outstanding, but everything else was way too good to give this place a 4. The burger wasnt bad, I am from California, and I think we may just use bigger more flavorful patties there. We got there at 5:55pm and ordered off the Happy Hour menu. I got a beer sampler, cajun tots, and a burger for 14 dollars! Such a good price for all that food! Then we grabbed the food and jumped on over to the theatre section and saw a movie for $4! Dinner, two beers, and a movie for $21! Like I said before the meat on the burger wasnt anything special, but the sauce was really good. The only reason I got the cheeseburger was because of Happy Hour, next time I will try a special burger, optimistic about that! Cajun Tots, youre welcome. They were soooo soo good! Whiskey Sampler!!!! I didnt choose this option because again, the beer sampler was less than $7 for Happy Hour, so I went with that, but I have never seen this before! Very unique. Lastly, the movie! Sound and video were all great. I would honestly rather see a movie in this theatre than any other theatre, and its cheaper! Why not?? Great venue! Gotta check it out!

Went there sunday with my family and my 2 year old. Trying to keep a 2 year old who is hungry occupied is not easy. It was not busy either I had to ask for menus and when we finally ordered it was over an hour before we got are food and it was cold. We orderd 2 chicken tenders meals and they sent us veggies with both instead of fries who does that? I have went to all the Mcmenamins in the portland area and this one I will never go back to. They did comp us one of the meals but who wants to wait for there food over and hr and then get it cold I just wanted to walk out and not pay. Hope all these reviews help I just wish I had looked up the reviews before attanding theis place.

Known as the St. Johns Dome, this McMenamins is a neighborhood pub and second run movie theater. Nice big outdoor beer garden with seating and fire pit to your left as you walk in, with more seating inside and an upstairs area thats low key and seem more like an old library. Doors to the right open up into the theater with old vintage seats and huge dome above you. $4 movies, or come by on Tuesdays for "Burger, Beer, and Movie Night" all for $12.75. Happy Hour (3-6 and 10-close) with $2-4 food items. "Walking Dead" fans come by for free showings on Sunday during the season. Ill be there!

I bought a bacon cheese burger for 11.50$ thinking itd be a decently made burger but to my surprise, when I bit into it there was not even one spec of flavor to this burger. Its like the cook did not even season anything. The burger was very bad. The service was slightly better but not by much. They checked on us very little and never refilled my completely empty glass of water. I should not have to ask for a refill of water , but when youre giving poor service, I guess the key thing is to not check on your customers. 1/10 I would not recommend, even to a person I didnt like.

I just wanted to say that I went to St Johns McMenamins this past Saturday and had a very different experience than the reviews below. It was a reasonably busy night and our server could not have been nicer. She was friendly and efficient, and the food was about what you’d expect at a McMenamins. We had a great time, and loved the cozy warm, slightly quirky atmosphere. For what’s its worth we didn’t think it was all bad news at the St Johns McMenamins, maybe this is a sign things are looking up at this location.

I was thoroughly disappointed today, we have frequented this location and have always been happy before, but today we came in and I made eye contact with at least three staff members before walking upstairs because I know its hard to know when people go upstairs, however 20 min passed as we sat unattended I asked my son to check after 10 min and her said he waved at a staff member.. we got tired of waiting and left. I notified one of the staff as we walked out that we were leaving after no attempt at service.

Thank heavens I found a very nice new theater in SE Michigan to bring my family to. Friendly staff, full bar, large lobby, extra flavored powders for your popcorn, modern video games, crazy food selection winner! Amazing how nice a movie theater can be when new and currently lacking the usual disruptive ghetto element (for now). I can even overlook the miserable commercials screened before the feature (for now). Yay!

Awesome experience! Ive had food an drinks at many "M" pubs and bars and thi was by far the best. We usually experience crappy SLOW service at Mcminimins but not this time. Ordered beers, a Gyro and chicken strips.... The food wa amazing! For the first time in a long time the chicken wasnt over beaded! We will be coming here again... And again :)

Cheap movies, great beer and delicious eats. The staff is awesome as well. I dont have a any complaints about this establishment. We frequent this location often. We have work meetings here and our family enjoys the outdoor seating in the summer months and the upstairs is perfect place to warm up with a cocktail in the winter months.

The best thing about McMenamins is the historic locations, and this one is nice. The casual hippy vibe outside is very pleasant on a summer night. McMenamins food and drink is what it is, but its fine. Its pub grub. Theres precious few spots open late at night in STJ, and McMenamins is, so yay for that!

Great food and an awesome little movie theater. The only con I have is their service needs to be improved for those who order food and want to watch a movie. My friend ordered his food (a salad) before the movie started and didnt get his food until an hour into the movie.

Charming little theater and pub with cheap movies and a good menu. Get there early for the couches or get there late and sit in the chairs in the back. Either way, youre guaranteed a good time (especially if you pick a kitschy movie like Cowboys and Aliens).

Everything was excellent! The atmosphere was very comfortable, the service was awesome, the beer sampler was impressive, and the food was so good, I was eating after I was full. I will definitely be back to check out the theater area.

McMenamins is generally pretty great but my first time visiting the Store Johns pub was extra great and exceptional. Especially Shane and the new server he was training. They were extra fun and super to deal with for our time there.

I visited the restaurant. Its a very typical McMenamins: a little quirky, a little charming, with cold beer and their typical American fare. Next time I plan to sit outside as the patio is adorable! Service was quick and courteous.

If your a fan of snappy and very emotional servers with a side of horrible hamburger meat than you should give this place a shot. If anyone from this place reads my review I want you to know that you are really horrible at your job.
