SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN Awful place. The first thing we noticed when going into the store was a baby sulcata tortoise on its back in its water bowl, head fully submerged in the water. I told a worker and she refused to look at it, stating that "they get upside-down all the time." Sure, a tortoise can flip itself over when on its back (maybe), but how long will that take, and how long can it survive before it drowns? And if it does survive, its experiencing a lot of stress. Very irresponsible, how long does it take to simply walk 20 ft to check if a living being isnt going to die. I spent about 20 minutes in the store and I checked before I left, it was barely moving. Some of the animals were even painted to look more exotic. Ridiculous. Bearded dragons with bright blue, poorly done "designs" on their heads on bodies, and an adult with heavy black paint under its mouth and neck and bright red lines on its legs. Clearly paint, distinctly unnatural, definitely unhealthy and unethical. Infuriating. Most of the animals are housed in poor conditions - tiny enclosures with paper towel as substrate, dirty water bowls. Most of the animals look sick and depressed. The workers do not seem to care about the customers nor the pets. Improper setups for many of the individual species. Not one person asked if we needed any help, and they all looked like angry, preoccupied teenagers who who disinterested in everything around them and everything they were doing. I would never support this store, never buy anything from this store, especially nothing live. I was thoroughly depressed upon entering and exiting this store. The whole place smelled, indicating dirty living conditions for the animals and lack of maintenance or care. I had to walk around with my shirt over my nose. Only the expensive, rare animals were relatively well cared for. There was very loud music with heavy bass playing right over the reptiles, Im sure this cannot be good for them.

This is the worst place that you could possibly shop at. I have never had a bad experience like I have had with Pet Kingdom. My boyfriend and I decided we wanted to get a pet turtle. The gentleman there got us into a red-eared slider and we asked him to get us EVERYTHING we needed to make this turtle a happy home. He got us the tank and basking area, the filter, some feeder fish, a light and a rock bottom. I asked him if we could put the feeders right into the water and he said yes. After setting the tank up, and putting the fish into the water, all the feeders died. I called back and talked to someone else and they said you needed a water conditioner. So I had to sit and scoop all these dead fish out of my tank. Then we went looking for more stuff to make our turtle happy and we come to find out you need a water heater, which the gentleman did not mention to us. Then he also said do not feed them goldfish, which we find out you can. The turtle would not eat and we started to get very upset. I called up and talked to the manager about the whole situation and she had us bring everything back. She decided to get us into a little box sulcata turtle. AGAIN.. they gave us wrong information. Told us to only soak him for 1 minute once a week and to not take him out of his tank too much. After noticing our turtle was looking sick and was not eating, I took him to a reptile vet. They did everything possible to make him better. You actually are suppose to take them out for 20 minutes a day to get the UV sun light and vitamin D and also soak them for 15 minutes about 3 times a week. Come today, our turtle passed away. I do not recommend anyone to purchase or step foot in this place. It is horrible and they are liars and just say anything to make you feel happy to take your money.. THEY SHOULD GO OUT OF BUSINESS!

This place sucks. Hands down worst customer service in the world. They will do anything to get you to purchase an animal. They dont care where the animal is going, they just want your money. They dont bother to ask you if you can properly care for their animals. As far as fish go, they will not tell you about the proper cycling an aquarium needs to go through before buying fish. And when you buy fish, they dont bother to ask you what type of fish you already have to let you know whether the new fish your buying will get along with the fish you already have. Get a load of this, yesterday I walked in to purchase a turtle that would not feed on my fish. A guy takes me over and shows me the spiny neck softshell turtles and says, these guys wont eat your fish. I said, do I need some kind of area for him to be able to get out of the water for a few hours. The guy says no he will do just fine in the water and does not need anything like that. He then says "well bro im off but if you need any help just ask someone else." Like wtf, rude. So he walks away and another employee comes to me and says, "actually they do need something to get out of the water ever once in awhile otherwise they can get shell rot" So the poor turtle is in their tank, prone to shell rot and they guy is telling me otherwise so he can make a sale. Like I said, this place only cares about money. They dont care about their animals or where they are going. Take your hard earned money and go somewhere where the employees care more for their animals. Like someone else said, If you have a bunch of knowledge of the animals you are looking for then this place is ok. But for regulars, stay away from this place. I have had better experience with Petco and Petsmart than this place.

I got my first reptile here and he has been healthy and issue free in the 1 year weve had him. I got all my live feed from here as well when I lived nearer to it. Id advise doing your own research and joining various groups related to whatever reptile youre getting, as it has turned out a lot of the advice and supplies we were told to buy from pet kingdom was not good for our water dragon. You can get substrate and moss from home depot, make sure its sterilized for 4x to 10x cheaper than the brand name stuff at a pet store. There is no benefit to the brand name substrate at pet stores, theyre just overpriced substrates. Also, I bought their 4x2x2 enclosure and was told it would last the life of the water dragon. First off thats completely false, adult dragons need at least 6x4x2 enclosure to be able to climb. Secondly, their enclosures dont handle humidity well, or at least they did a poor job sealing it because the front piece of wood under the sliding glass is beginning to warp and expand out. Overall I think pet kingdom is the best reptile store in the area, but definitely be wary of which person you get to help you there as theyll not give great info and will upsell a bunch of junk. Do your research first so you can be aware of when theyre telling you false info.
