In 2015 me and my wife have discovered this amazing place and I think the review for it is much more than past due. It is amazing that after about 30 visits it is still one of our favorite theater, because I am recommending to my friends every film that we have seen there. Yes we do our research about the pocture but it comes to choosing our genre from what they offer. Yesterday was out Sunday student special, I called it our because we both are students and love movies, so every Sunday Night it is in front the big screen. And probably every 2nd Sunday we are in Laemmles Playhouse. We love the place, the atmosphere and the people that are working there, and today I decided to finally write a review for it. Yesterday Jason was very helpful and friendly and again proved the high service standard for Laemmley Playhouse. Thank You, we will see you next Sunday or even sooner! Laemmles Playhouse became our favorite movie theater!

While they do show more mainstream movies occasionally, the heart and soul of the Laemmle chain are independent films. Often times this or another Laemmle location are the only places you can find something showing. This is a great location. In a fun neighborhood to spend time in before your movie or to hang out in to talk about what you have just seen. Compared to other movie chains the prices for tickets and food are reasonable.

This the only place in town that has good movies. I mean if you dont want all that main stream crap. Its the last movie theater in Pasadena that hasnt sold its soul for the big movies. I hope this place never goes away. The movies are one of a kind thoughtful and provoking small interesting films. Definitely not for your TV couch surfer looking for the bid stars but someone who thinks for themselves and wants a quality movie.

If you are looking for an indie film experience this is the place. The theater is clean and having seven screens means a lot of choices. The night we were there one of the films being screened had a Q&A with the director and some of the cast afterwards. This kind of thing is only possible in large urban centers like LA and definitely makes this theater a gem among indie film houses.

The last time I was there to see a film, the seating wasnt very good, and I think the air conditioner was broken. So why would I give it five stars? Because this is the kind of movie theater that makes it easy to ignore those things. This theater is definitely a throwback to the past. Its in a great location, they have lots of great films, and the prices are reasonable.

Movie theatre located in heart of Pasadena. Many "artsy" or independent limited release films shown here. There is a rotating exhibit of local artists in the hallways leading to the individual theaters. Clean. Good service. Comfortable seats. Easy to find parking. And when youve finished watching your movie, plenty of food and shopping surrounding it.

I wish they all could be Laemmle Theaters! Laemmle (pronounced Lem-lee) is my go to theater. It is a no frills type of place but it is family owned and shows the best independent and international films. Many of the films here have been a part of Cannes Film Festival. The prices are very reasonable, especially for seniors and students.

The Laemmle Pasadena plays some films you cannot find at large venues. They have the BEST popcorn around, even providing free flavor powders to shake over it and they provide free ice water as well. The theater capacities are small, but it makes the experience more intimate.

Their name has come to be known as quality Indie films. They select outstanding movies to screen, always have. This is a nice theatre. The seats could be more comfortable, well, maybe one day. If you enjoy movies on the large screen and thought provoking cinema, come here.

Its a nice theater, but it hasnt been updated. Perk* because it isnt updated, there are fewer people, ie. it isnt crowded. It also has lots of art by local artist on the walls. You walk through a gallery of beautiful art on the way to watch your movie.

Bad projection. Im not an audio/visual geek, so when the projection is so bad that I can notice it, somethings really wrong. I love having a place to see art-house movies on a big screen, but whats the point when picture jitter gives you a headache?

They play the films that are gutsy and intelligent, while also playing some selective mainstream and blockbusters. Keep is selective, and keep it fierce guys! I drive out weekly from Claremont, because I run out of films to see there!

When I want to see a movie that has intelligence and something beyond the common denominator of violence and hopelessness, I go here. It is a little bit like paradise of movies often small who accurately reflect the human condition

Tons of foreign, documentary and indie movies here. Love to have such variety in a movie theater. First-run theaters are a dime a dozen. Special Arthouse cinemas are truly a treat. Im usually here at least once a week.

Showing the best short run independent films, plus some bigger films too, in cozy Pasadena. They often show wonderful art & foreign films that only run for one weekend. I love going for the Sat or Sun 11am screenings.

Great choices of movies at this theater, customer service ok I guess, and seats are the old fashion ones, not really comfortable, but the movie had more weight than everything else. I loved it! Parking difficulty.

I have always loved this indy film venue, next to a great bookstore and coffee bar. Last night was even better. Watched Salma Hayek in "Beatriz at dinner", and had a bonus free art exhibition...Wow!

My favorite movie theater. Saw Paris can Wait. Lovely, romantic, just what I needed on this hot day. Came out smiling and there was Jazz being played in the courtyard. Thats good living to me

Like any theater that has a older interior, it needs a little some remodeling to renew it. Since this is a theater the focuses on indies, I think its more than ample for their purposes.

Always plays the movies you cant find elsewhere. Otherwise, great theater with everything youd want. I also love the bookstore next door which is a fun thing to do if youre early.

Matinee pricing lasts long, theater is comfortable and dark, restrooms are clean, and a nice touch is two pitchers of water by the snack bar, one for ice water and one room temp!

Small independent theater with movies even the Arclight down the street doesnt show. Get the $100 rewards pre-loaded gift card for discounts on concessions and admission.

Considered an Artsy theatre by some. You will find some movies not showing at your average AMC though the place could use some updating with the seating and flooring.

Need more show times in the afternoon and night. Staff always playing on their phones. Other than that, I really like the atmosphere and the foreign films.

Great independent movie selection. Weve seen a couple movies here and every time has been a great experience. Cheaper than the nearby Arclight theater.
