Well, first off Id like to say this review is not for the Serra Theater as it is now, but for the Serra Twin Theater I knew growing up in North San Jose in the early 1980s. Back then, the theater was the place wed go to see second-run and B movies. I and my sisters and friends would ride our bicycles along the shoulder of Hwy. 237 (you could get away with it back then; the highway was much smaller). Wed go see something like "9 to 5" or "Battle Beyond the Stars" or "Star Crash" for a dollar (or less) then ride our bikes back home. The air-conditioned cool of the theater was a welcome refuge from the harsh California sun, and for an hour or two our mundane world slipped away and we were space warriors or monster hunters or any other number of impossible things. Im happy to know that the Serra is still showing movies, but it seems from the reviews Ive read that the current owners dont seem to care much about giving their customers a pleasant experience. Movies have the power to influence and enrich our lives, and theater-goers that feel comfortable and welcomed will return time and again. After more than 30 years, I still remember the Serra Twin. Will it still be remembered 30 years hence?

One of the worst theaters i have ever gone. The management is very adamant and very condescending . They give tiny micro receipts as tickets and expect to carry that ticket until the movie completes. When asked why they cant give a better form of tickets, the owner gave a big speech saying that the theaters had great revenues(I dont know why he was speaking about revenues... poor guy must have lost his mind ) and that all theaters in the world( pretty sure he is living in a nutshell) operate like this only and that I was doing a big sin in asking them such a question. Apart from the management, sound quality is poor, theater maintenance is also bad. I am not going there again and hope others also dont go so that it comes as a wake up call to the management and they enroll themselves in customer management classes!!

Worst experience !!! Responses in the counter is poor which may be because of one guy managing all !! Theater is in un-hygenic condition - The mint chutney and Ketchup for Somosa is placed on top of the Trash Bin for us to self-serve, the Bhel Puri and Samosa are kept open to the air for a long time, the fountain Coke and other drinks taste more Chlorinated and not the taste of the drink, the ticket counter and the place surrounding it is dirty !!! There is not placard or menu with what food is available. The screen projection is not at all good - lots of lines can be going from one side to the other in the screen when the movie is ON.

I liked this place because it has basic movies; it had Bahubali 2, although Im not sure if it will have other major Indian movies. It has many advantages over major theatres, such as here there are a lot of empty seats and it has an interval in movies. BEST OF ALL, THE PRICING HERE IS LESS THAN IN AMC (for the same movie). I would recommend this place to people who watch indian movies

Crappy seats and smelly place, since tollywood and bollywood movies wont be released else where. This place ends up the place to go ! the chat and the food taste bad, A couple of my friends have fallen ill a couple of times. the food is advised not to be consumed. and the tickets are very expensive. Nela (floor) tickets at the price of IMAX !!

Strictly okay place to watch some hard-to-find South Indian movies. Not well maintained, and movies dont start on time. Maintenance is poor too! If you want to catch a Bollywood movie, go to AMC or Century instead. If you are looking for a South Indian movie - and it doesnt play elsewhere, I guess you dont have any other choice :-)

Theater could do better with temperature control during summer. Place always feels hot inside. For some reason they like to cram people into few rows by assigning numbers. Opening seating should have been the default option.

This is an old, old, old place. Hasnt been upgraded since god knows when. There is a stench in the air there. On the plus side, the screens are big and the acoustics are great. But the stench...Ugh!

This theater makes us feel like we are in Andhra Pradesh. Theater has good snacks options during the interval break. Seating is not to the expectation when compared to Century/AMC.

Thanks to century and AMC, the monopoly of these guys is broken! Worst customer service. Theatres are maintained as if we have no choice but go to them !!! Hate it!

Good place for nice Indian movies. The sound system can be even better. Sound system in one of the movie was horrible. Probably one track was compeletely down.

We love this theatre. It has a small glass opening on the door which makes it very convenient to watch movie while standing outside with kids

We do not have much choice of theaters for Indian movies. The seats are not comfortable to sit for 2 plus hours. The place needs an upgrade.

The serra would have been better off showing regular movies instead of bollywood hits
