The Landmark Theater is one of the best theaters on the Westside. With reserved seating, fairly convenient parking and great screen quality (and a usually broad selection of movies from foreign to indie to blockbuster), the Landmark is a theater that any movie aficionado on the Westside should be familiar with. Parking is done on the underground lot (two entrances) and youre given three hours of free parking and five hours discounted with validation. Theres a bar next to theater for small bites and wine/bottled beer. The service is fairly good with helpful attendees and nice intros to movies that dont seem too out of place. The theater varies in size depending on the movie youre watching - the main theaters have stadium seating with a wide amount of seats (stay away from the bottom area as its really close to the screen) while other theaters are relatively smaller (with some even having sofas as seats). Youll know how each theater thanks to the reserved seating system. Trailers only number to three per movie and attendants will help you to your seat. Really, its a good experience (expect to pay $12-$13 per ticket) that has some quirks but otherwise is a solid moviewatching place.

I was finally able to come watch a movie at the famous Landmark Theater that I have heard so much about. I came to watch The Grand Budapest Hotel on opening night and I couldnt think of a better place. I love the ability to reserve seats and what wonderful seats they are, you can literally feel yourself sink with comfort as you sit down. The concession stand was had a great choice of snacks and some unique ones that I have never seen at a theater before. They have a bar/lounge where you can get some drinks while you wait which is nice but I have to admit that this feature did sour our experience a bit. The couple that sat next to us clearly had too much to drink and not only could you clearly see it but smell it as well. They were loud and obnoxious and I had to repeatedly had to tell them to be quiet. Other than that, the experience at The Landmark Theater was amazing and I cannot wait to see another movie there. Bonus Tip: The Apple Pan restaurant is near the theater and is a great place for an after movie snack with great burgers and selection of pies. It also helps that they are open late.

First, bring money to park. At least $5 if you stay over 3 hours. That means dont eat, shop, or watch 2 films (or one long one), or youll pay extra to park. Why would anyone choose assigned seating for a movie? Why should corporations control movie seating? Are you comfortable sitting in a sticky seat? Behind a tall person? Next to a smelly or noisy or crazy person? One who comes late and has a seat in the middle? What if someones already in your seat? These are some confines of assigned seating, whether you or they push the seat choice button on the computer screen. Try not to trip if you use the restrooms near the food court. The floor is very uneven. Also, when I went there last, the floor was so sticky that my shoes made noise. Dont try to use the mall maps. They are designed to confuse. Dont expect to find a clock in the mall. Finally, this theater hogs new release films-- a scummy business-- so they are unavailable in a neighborhood near you.

This is an upscale alternative theater that features top independent films and some "blockbusters". Its located next to the Westside Pavilion shopping center where the old Barnes and Noble used to be. Its a very clean theater with great seats, friendly staff, and awesome concessions. Its not the typical crap they sell at theaters, there are some alternatives, the hot dogs are hebrew national, they have some all natural/healthier or specialty candies and snacks, Peets coffee, honest tea drinks, and a few other gems. The theaters are not huge and it is reserved seating. The parking garage validates for three hours free which is nice. There is a bar and lounge located on the theater level floor and downstairs is a great New American style restaurant called Westside. I always have a great experience coming to this theater, and especially love it because Im a big indie and foreign movie fan :-)

" BFG" Spielbergs new film is "endearing" ! "Charming" is another good adjective for this film. Mark Rylance does a very good job as the Big Friendly Giant. His eyes catch you and pull you in. This is a family film and one to bring children to. It is based on British writer Roald Dahls book. The special effects were awesome. I liked the dream catcher sequence. Bill Hader is in the film. See if you can figure out which role he played. I was held spellbound for the entire film. Mark Rylance won the Oscar for his role in "Bridge of Spies" and this role is a total departure for him. The cinematography is excellent. There were many adults in the audience who appreciated this genre. check your local listings for showtimes. I saw the film at the westsides Landmark on Pico Blvd. There is ample 3 hour validated parking. I give it 4 stars.

Revival theaters are to die for and in Los Angeles we have the pick of the litter and the choice of which theater we want to die for. This is actually the theater, Nuart Theatre that is T-H-E-A-T-R-E and not ending in E-R and not "New Art" (yes Im anal retentive). Phil show movies from all areas of any genre is the first place I watched animate its the first place I was a black-and-white movie in theaters and its first place I ever seen clerks, that was in the first black-and-white movie I saw in theaters up, and best of all was the first place I got to kiss Kevin Smith (why shake hands if you can hug and why hug if you can kiss), a man that in my experience has shown up every time they play one of his movies. They do have a pretty good selection on topping why not just the famous Philipus its like videodrome!

I used to love this theater -- was it just a few months ago? Having comfortable seats and good sound and projection used to be special, but now most of the big LA theaters have caught on. Im deducting a full star for the wine bar situation. They have a "lounge" where they claim to serve food. I cant prove it, but I think they get their "entrees" from the same place the concession stand gets its popcorn. When my $12 chicken empanadas came, I poked the sad little dumplings on my empty plate and thought "this handful of, um, things is an entree?" Then I at one. Aha. Frozen entree. They got it out of a box, microwaved it, dropped it on a plate and charged $12 for mood lighting. Free parking is awesome though.

This was the best theater Ive ever been to. Its so clean you could eat off the floor. You get assigned seats when you buy your tickets. Genius idea! An usher is in the theater to show you to your seat. I felt like I was going to a Broadway show. Also, there is a greeter there at the end of the show to say goodbye. The service is top-notch. I only tried a popcorn, and it satisfied my need for movie-popcorn. The only downside is that the parking garage was really busy. If you know the parking regulations for the neighborhood, you might have more luck parking a block or two away.
