The ArcLight group of theaters as a whole is a movie going experience well worth the extra few dollars you pay for the price of admission. If you really love going to "the movies", this is the place for you! The most important reason is the people there know how to show a film properly. From the projection to the sound, The ArcLight theaters pretty much devastate their competition. It takes tens of thousands of combined work hours to produce a modern theatrical release in this era. If you care about seeing that work displayed as it was intended by all those who poured did their best to bring it to the screen, then the ArcLight is the best bet you can make. Combine that with the convenience or reserved seating, (literally walk in 2 mins before the lights go down without worrying about where you will sit), ZERO commercials for products or television shows and a pretty decent snack bar and the whole deal makes so much more sense than your run of the mill AMC or other multiplex experiences. After going to the ArcLight for the past 10 years, I won’t go to another theater unless I’m REALLY desperate. It IS that good.

Since Arclight took this theater over and renovated it, there are a few things that really stand out for me here... 1. Quality of Experience. The digital screen is flawless, the digital sound is awesome, the theater has new, comfortable seats and has been upgraded so the room is dark and the viewing experience is enhanced. This is worth paying a little extra for, IMHO. 2. Quality of Purchase: Register online and you get a dollar off. Buy your tickets in advance and your seats are reserved. This for me is a BIG plus. My daughters and I went to the midnight opening of a Harry Potter movie and the crowd, while considerable, was quiet and well behaved as they waited for the doors to open. Why? Because everyone knew they had a seat! Big, big plus. There are other great things about this theater but there are not things I care too much about. The dining area looks very nice but Ill never eat there. The lobby has been remodeled, which is nice. Parking is still easy and plentiful. I highly recommed this theater. Its worth it to me to pay a little bit extra for a top notch experience.

The old Pacific Theaters that occupied the spot was dingy and rundown, leading me to the local AMCs as a moderately better option. When the acquisition by Arclight was announced I suddenly had greatly renewed interest in the old spot based on experience with the flagship Arclight Hollywood. While the reality of the situation is that the Beach Cities location may not offer the same experience as its Hollywood big brother it does offer enough of them to make it my choice of movie spots in the area. From assigned seating, the modest bar, Arclight Presents and 21+ showings, the old spot shines brightly enough. That said, the parking situation remains less than ideal and the ticket booth/check-in counter could have used more thought, but those are fairly minor gripes in the bigger picture (yes, pun intended). Truth be told I plan to continue being a patron of this business for a long time to come.

The only thing this theater offers that is anything worthwhile is assigned seating. Their customer service is terrible. There were eight people waiting in line at the concessions stand and only one employee working there. Even if you arrive early, you will still be late to the movie if you try to get anything to eat. I filed a complaint online with Arclight and their canned response was that they would respond within 24 hours. 48 hours later they finally sent an email asking what date and time this happened. I responded that the date and time was the date and time I sent the email (sitting in the theater waiting for the movie to start). The high cost of the ticket and poor customer service means that this is not a theatre to go to.

I really enjoy this movie theatre. ArcLight cinemas are more of the higher-end movie going experience with tickets ranging from upwards of $15 dollars, but if you want to have a good movie-going experience I highly recommend it. The movie theatre is always quiet even on a Saturday and Ive never had an issue with the theatre malfunctions or anything like that. There is a free parking lot across the street and behind the theatre which means no extra money for me. They have a fully stocked bar where you can grab a drink before you wait. I definitely ate their bucket of caramel corn in one seating because its made fresh that day.

Seats were hard and cramped, screen was small, prices were ridiculous, the large popcorn was more like the size of a medium, no free refills on the popcorn, staff was snooty, they didnt carry any organic juices for the kids (like every other theater I have been to does) and no ICE coke for my hubby. Was a total waste of money and time. We actually left the theater frustrated and disappointed. Would much rather go to an "older" less fancy movie theater and enjoy ourselves than go to a modern, stuck up movie theater that is more about its design than anything else. Never going here again thats for sure.

I feel that the Arclight in Beach Cities is an okay iteration versus the greater experiences at the other locations. Nearly every time Ive been here, there has been some sort of blackout or power failure at the theater. The movie either starts up or theyll give you a voucher but hopefully, they have figured out why/fixed it before I go again. The theaters are also a little smaller and a little less clean than the other Arclights as well as more limited movie choices. Parking is plentiful in the back and they do have a bar as well as a gift shop. Simply an okay experience.

Just went to see The Hobbit in 3D. They use electronic glasses with their system. I had already seen this movie in 3D in a different theater with the other type of glasses and found that with the electronic glasses the picture is very dark. I prefer the other type of glasses, even though they also darken things a bit. I wished I had simply attended the regular screening of this show. I would not recommend a 3D experience at this theater. Other than the sinks in the mens room being in major disrepair, the staff is friendly and the property is clean.

Movie theater looks nice in the outside. Although, when my mother and I went into theater 1 to be seated for Fate of the Furious, the seats were disgusting with stains in thr seats and behind the seats. There was literally smeared chocolate on my mothers seat and in front on her a foot print of some sort. All in the rows have dirty and stained seats. When the gentleman came to wipe my mothers seat, it was still horrifically stained with years of gross leftovers. I would have rather went to the AMC in the gallery down the street.

Overpriced with sort of cramped seating access. I guess we have been spoiled by the comfy reclining leather seats at Regal Cinemas that have wide aisles so as to not bother others in the row on entrance and or exit. First time I have ever seen women have to surrender their purse for inspection at a movie theatre. Are they worried someone may smuggle in some reasonably priced refreshments? My wifes little purse hardly has enough room for her iPhone but had to be searched none the less. Our first and LAST visit to this venue.
