This is a nice little theatre. I visited here for the first time yesterday. My friend and I saw the new Wonder Woman film. The bathrooms are claustrophobia-inducing, and the floors were disgustingly sticky so I deducted a star. The rest of the place was relatively clean. I noticed there werent any armrests attached to the seats. Or maybe I just couldnt find them... And the best part: if you come before 6pm, adult tickets are 6.50 each. I ended up paying about 15 bucks (plus tax and all that) for my friend and I. We usually never get any concession snacks, so I cant speak for the prices. The theatre is located in an area with a lot of restaurants (just a few blocks away, heading north), so we ended up just going to a little Latin American food joint and eating outside before the movie. We also came by bus, so I cant speak for parking in the area. Anyway, I enjoyed my experience there minus the sticky floors. Totally recommended for a date with a friend/honeyboo or a family on a little budget.

The Highland (Park) Theatre is a nice place to sit and watch a movie. This is especially true on Tuesdays and Wednesdays because its "Family Night" - $5 for all films, regardless of rating, all day. The seats are comfortable, the screen is in good condition, and the A/C is good (if a little on the warm side). The concessions are generally priced out of the range that I want to pay, but theyre not exorbitantly expensive. Outside of the Highland Park Independent Film Festival, the Highland Theatre primarily plays major market films, mostly blockbusters. The one thing Ive consistently noticed about this theatre is that the audience tends to be as equally concerned with their snacks as it is the film. Theres frequent getting up and heading out to the lobby as well as fairly vigorous chewing, passing, and slurping of snacks. This is reasonably distracting overall - so, if you really want to immerse yourself in a film, you may want to pick another theatre.

A lot of people here are complaining of bad service, bad popcorn, dirty areas, etc. I can imagine those people now. Pressed and ironed white trousers, a light pink polo shirt, complete with a navy blue sweater thrown neatly over their shoulder. If youre a snob, if you carry hand sanitizer around with you in case you accidentally touch someone, or if you frequently look for valet parking, then youre in the wrong theater. In fact, youre in the wrong town. Go back to Beverly Hills. The tickets are cheap, the popcorn is great, and theres no godawful 40 mins of stupid ads and quizes before the show. If the employees arent being super friendly and helpful (like they are to everyone) it might be because youre complaining that they dont do chai mocha half fat non whip frapachino blends.

At first you might notice the picture suffers in quality, I got used to that 15min into the movie. You also might notice the audio sounds like its being played through a home stereo and only 2 speakers bought from a retail store like Target, I got over this after 15 minutes as well. I couldnt get over the dust, even though I dont have any serious allergies, it made me regret walking in there. I guessed they dont bother vacuuming the drapes lined along the sides of the theater. It has been 3 years since I wrote this review, and they still got the same old dusty 4 metre long cobwebs hanging down the ceiling in front of the screen. TAKE THEM COBWEBS DOWN ALREADY.

First thing first, this is a dive theater. That doesnt necessarily mean a bad thing, but you are trading in a bit of the luxury you would get at an ArcLight in exchange for super-cheep tickets and food for first run movies. If you live close by it is a good resource to stay up to date on movies while saving your wallet. I can buy a ticket, large popcorn, and large drink (which they will give one refill each) for less than one ticket at a high end theater. If you go in with the right expectations you can have a good time here. In the heart of the Highland Park gentrification, it is surrounded by cool new shops and places to eat.

Please do not watch a movie at this Theater. This place should be closed down or inspected by the health board. I made the mistake of watching a movie here. This place is like something from a third world country not in a residential area north of Los Angeles. What got me the most is that this place is still using powder soap. Please, please, please do not watch a movie at this place. If you have to watch a movie at home or go to the park or beach for a nice cool place to spend time with family. Disappointed and angry that a place like this even exists in the year 2012. Please if you read this spread the word.

This theatre has been here for some time now the old owners didnt keep it clean but they did cater to the neighborhood, this is something these New owners dont do..... A lot of families who are just making it Im sure are missing that special on Tuesday and Wednesdays..... I use to go to this theatre 3 times a week, 2days for the specials and 1 day on a week end if i had nothing to do..... I think the New owners should at least give back to the community and at least have a show day special at least once a week.....

A wonderful discount, single-screen theater in Highland Park! Its obviously a bit dated inside, and the movie screen is average at best, but it didnt diminish my movie going experience for Rogue One. The seats were comfortable, and there was good sound and adequate image quality with the screen. And I love being able to see a movie in Los Angeles for less than $10!!! Ill be using this one and Vista Theater, another discount theater, for my moviegoing as much as possible to save on ticket costs!

I love going to the Highland Theater because its $5 special on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the popcorn is freshly made with butter flavored taste and you can add cheddar cheese flavoring and ice cold refreshing soft drinks and hot dogs all the foods starting at an affordable and good price and I love the HD image of the movie and the sound quality is great and the seats are comfortable and a great place to go and enjoy watching a great movie and the staff are nice and really cool people

The staff are nice enough. Three screens. The movie prices are great and the location is fun, across from a bowling alley and next to a awesome bar and grill. Problem is they constantly let people in who are extremely drunk or even bring in there own beer. I have had to help break up three fights because some drunken idiots want to start a fight over nothing. There are familys with young children in the theater. If it were not for these insadents I would be happy going here.

Cant beat the price. Good popcorn, current movies. We like to go to horror movies especially since the milieu fits so well. Bad news is some of the patrons. Went to Shrek 4 and someone had thrown a soda at the screen earlier which made a bright spot on the screen the whole time - that sucked. So if you go, treat it good. Also, a lot of the patrons bring their little kids to see "R" rated violent movies ad that kinda throws me.
