If this were a review about the actual theater and its manager Victor I would give it a 5. He is the one who is in costume and so gracious. However, tonight we reported that someone had vomited on the row we were sitting in 15 minutes before the movie start time. We waited for someone to come and tried to help by warning people not to seat in that area. One couple almost slipped on the vomit, one person accidentally touched the vomit as it was on the seat, and the smell permeated the area to the point that the entire end of the row cleared the area. As the previews started no one had come and still no one came even after the movie finished. My husband is a nurse and mentioned that the vomit could have blood in it and make people sick. Especially those who came in contact with it. After the movie ended I spoke to a staff member named Pablo saying it was not ok that the vomit was not cleaned up immediately. He instead brushed me off, not even lifting his head to acknowledge that I was speaking to him as he was sweeping under the counter. I get that Pablo is unhappy at his job, but it is never ok to be dismissive and rude to your customers. Especially as this was a health code violation and a safety hazard. Im writing this review with the hope that management and the owner see how their staff made a grave mistake and should be conscientiously retrained on what constitutes a health code violation/safety hazards. This was in fact a blatant disregard of staff members comprehending the theaters liability to protect its patrons.

What a find! Im so happy that I happened upon Vista Theater while walking through the Silver Lake area! We had just eaten by the Sunset junction at Sawyer, and were walking up the street to just explore and talk when we happened upon this adorable discount theater! Its a tiny one screen theater, with a small box office at the entrance. The tickets were only $9.50 (basically a bargain in LA) so we decided to stop and watch the new Beauty and the Beast! They had workers taking the tickets at the entrance and welcoming everyone in, and were dressed up as beauty and the beast! The theater inside is gorgeous, I loved the cute theme inside with Egyptian like sculptures along the sides. The little ads for popcorn and soda that played before the movie looked like they were straight out of the 80s and were so cute! I loved the movie going experience here! If youre looking for a fun time at a more affordable price, this is definitely the place to go!

It was as if I had stepped out of a time machine and into a theater demolished long before I was born. Gone were the escalators and parking validators that I had grown accustomed to; in their place, Egyptian kings stared out at me from behind tombs. I sat and waited for what was to come, a kaleidoscope of images smashing themselves into a narrative that I would later try to assemble in my head. The seating was spacious and a few seats over two men discussed the rise of podcasts. It was a conversation that I could not escape even by traveling through the ages. There was a funny smell all around but no one else seemed to notice or care, maybe it was them, maybe it was the bodies in the walls. After the images on the screen subsided I made my way out into the afternoon, the sun beating down even harsher than before. I was back in 2014, my escape from modern life all too brief.

Its an historic (so, older) movie theater where they show classic movies at midnight. The Egyptian theme is kinda cool, and the risers go down to a certain point, then go back up toward the front, which is great. It keeps you from having to crane your neck to see the show if you were unfortunate enough (or just late) to the movie. My only issues were: the seats are uncomfortable, but I realize restoration to historic places is just that...and the restrooms, which again, if they restore them too much, its just not the same. Oh, and then theres the location. Its not easy to get to if you have to come through the lights (the stoplights on the opposite side are ridiculous for pedestrians, and cars, frankly), and the area is a bit sketchy at night. Otherwise, its a cool little theater, and its fun to watch classics in an historic place, as well.

The Vista has all the charm and ambience of a classic small town theater - but is nestled in the heart of Los Angeles. It is my theater of choice and has never let me down when it comes to providing a great moviegoing experience. The price is terrific, the snacks good, and the staff a pleasure to work with. You can tell they all like movies. I especially like the fact that the manager dresses up as one of the characters from the movie thats screening. Ive seen him as Wolverine from X-Men, Harry Potter in full wizarding robes, and Matt Damons character from The Martian complete with spacesuit. I cant wait to see who hes going to greet people at the door as when Star Wars: the Force Awakens screens tomorrow. There should be more theaters like The Vista and fewer of those boxes tucked into malls. I love it and you will too!

I saw my first movie at the Vista Theater in the early 1950s. "The Red Shoes" (a classic, today) was playing there, and my mother wanted to see it. I was a bit young for such content, but Mother couldnt find a baby sitter, so along I went. In a way, one could say that the Vista Theater was my first baby sitter! From the outside, the theater looks pretty much unchanged. Of course, it has been restored quite a bit, but the rooftop sign looks unchanged! Outside, on the corner, there used to be one of those old traffic lights that had two mechanical "arms"-one painted green with the word, "GO" stenciled on it, and the other, painted red, with, "STOP" stenciled on it. Everytime the light changed, a loud bell would ring and an electric motor would simultaneously lower one "arm" while raising the other.

It is your run of the mill big cinema with a couple of nice bonuses that take it over average. First, the bathrooms are well placed and there are plenty of stalls for chicks. Big bonus if you have to run out of a film! Second, my favorite movie companion (he NEVER talks during a movie) loves hand dipped milkshakes. These are available at the "other" concession stand just inside the door. They also serve french fries. Finally, the people who work there have always been really nice and efficient. Bonus - NO little kids in R rated movies after 6P (though why on earth anyone thinks it is a good idea to take a kid to a R movie ever is beyond me).

A really cool little theatre with lots of personality and history. I wouldnt rate it for comfort, but its got lots of charm. DO NOT BRING KIDS to this theatre. There are constantly drug addicts hanging around outside doing drugs right in public. Its almost guaranteed you will inhale marijuana if you are in the vicinity. This is mainly due to the fact that the theatre is directly across the street from Caffe Vita, where many of the drug addicts congregate and are seemingly encouraged to do so by the staff. The place would be so much better and Id gladly rate it higher if it werent for the deteriorated condition of the surrounding area.
