Has a large selection of fish and animals, much broader than that of Petsmart, much more expensive too. This review concerns mainly the fish section. The main reason Id shop at Petsmart (they seem to treat the animals the same in my view... lesser of two evils), other than substantially lower prices, is that 80% of the staff at BnB are plain rude. Some of the older folk and the guys are nice and helpful, however; the rest of them either wont even look at as you enter the store or they look through you, as if its a privilege youre shopping there. The worst by far are the cashiers, its enough to make me not shop there. At Petsmart, they may not know as much information, but they try hard and are courteous (its strange... youd think with the "neighborhood" store it would be the other way around) . In conclusion, if youre looking for something unique, you need more in-depth info and you can tolerate the rudeness and higher prices, this is your best bet in Mobile. If you want to something not too rare, reasonable pricing, much better return policy, overall friendlier staff, Id do some reading online about what you want and try Petsmart. This store would be a 5/5 star place if they dropped the prices a little, seemed to care more about the fish (not just selling a ton of them) and sorted out the staff. Right now 2/5 stars.

I just want to warn about their Peacock cichlids, and most likely all of their fish... either they or their breeders are using a chemicals to enhance color, but within a few days, they will fade to half of what they were colored when I bought them. I consider this false advertising, especially at the prices they are charging. I have bought about 5 Peacocks so far from them, as well as many other breeds, and it has happened every time. Also, the small amount of water from their system they put in the bag with my fish will double to triple the nitrate levels of my 75 gallon tank. I called to report this issue with a manager, and he had the nerve to tell me that I was not knowledgeable enough about the levels of my tank and insinuated that the condition of my aquarium was responsible for this occurrence. The conditions of my aquarium are extrememly optimal as I have Peacocks breeding, with about 6 generations so far, and as anyone knows, that does not happen when your levels are not correct. Needless to say, I am appalled as I have about 25 years of experience with setting up and maintaining aquariums, and all of those years have been with cichlids. I will never shop here again, and I strongly advise everyone to stay away from them!

This local pet store will be the best experience of a pet store you can go to in Mobile, Alabama. Yes, you will pay a little more for the merchandise. But it is a locally owned store with not only a great owner but the best and most caring employees. I can tell these employees were hand picked for: A) their care and concern for the customer B) their care, concern and knowledge of animals. B&B Pet Stop does many good things for animals and charities year round. I would like to especially shout out to current employee Kyle who takes the time to handle any issues or concerns of the customer in a timely fashion. Please support local businesses and take the time to enjoy this stores experience when you go to buy your furry family merchandise!

Dont listen to the other bad reviews. Obviously they only came in once and were probably asking off the wall (dumb questions) about other stores. Why would they care about other pet stores? I visit b and b about once, sometimes twice, a week. The price for fish are much cheaper than PetSmart. Dont listen to the others. Compare the prices of neon tetras. Almost $3 each at petsmarts and 3 for $5 at b and b. Find your specialist and they will help you Everytime no matter what! Sign up for the membership also. Its like $30 but Ive had it for two month and Ive saved over $120 already. A must visit place for all your pet needs!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this store!! Although I live about 2 hours away I always try to stop in as often as I can... I find that the freshwater fish staff give great advise and ive not lost one fish that ive purchased from there, so for anyone who complains about price should also know that these folks dont hesitate answering any questions you may have, if a fish wont work with what you already have they will tell you ( for people who listen ) and not just sell you a fish to make a buck! To me that saves you bunches in the long run and of course HAPPY FISH!

This place has it all. An amazing variety of snakes and reptiles. Plus anything u may need to feed them. Be prepared for a crowded store tho. Their return policy is awful tho. And their rats are sick. They tremor and my snake wont eat them. I brought back a rat the same day it was sold and they refused to give me a full refund. My snake refused to eat it. They put it back in the same tank and resold it. So I feel I should get a full refund. Instead they just get to make more $$$ off me. I refuse to shop here any more.

I loved it. Animals look very healthy with the exception of a few snakes being housed together (looked to be littermates) but they had a large tank. Their BCIS ARE pretty expensive. You can get a normal BCI for $60 from a breeder. But they do all look very healthy. But seriously $200 for a normal bci? My husband and son loved all of the fish and being able to pet the bunnies and birds. I wanted to have a better look at one of the BCIs but couldnt get anyone to help me. Overall a nice place though

Great selection and friendly, helpful staff. They have helped me set up a fish tank, find everything I needed for my fish tank, and are willing to chase around that one particular fish you wanted until they catch it. They have unboxed other departments products to make sure they will work for my pups. They always have events and sales. One of my dogs was actually adopted during their community adoption day that they hold weekly and I couldnt be more happy with her 4 years later.

I have a 6-year old son that loves animals. He attends first grade with several self proclaimed "animal experts." This morning, we decided to stop by B&B and check out the snakes, lizards and fish. Boy, did we have a blast. We, especially, appreciated Joseph in the salt water department and Tiff in the reptile department. They both took the time to educate a hungry mind about animals. As a dad, I appreciated it. They are the real "animal experts" in my mind....

They have a good selection of most anything you would need for a pet. And Im not talking just cat or dog. They have stuff for everything from birds to lizards and snakes and fish as well as rabbits and other small creatures. Just dont ask for them to order you anything they dont typically stock in aquarium live stock for freshwater. But their saltwater staff are great and will almost always be willing to see if they can get what you want or need.
