If you like clueless employees hawking crappy store brand booze because they get a commission then this is the place for you. Id rather go somewhere with knowledgeable people who dont have an incentive to sell me something crummy. I get that they have low prices, but thats their model. Their intent is to come into a new area and do all they can to undercut the locals (even taking a loss) and then eventually own a much larger portion of the market than they would otherwise. Because of their size you arent likely to find actual rare whiskey or wine: that will go to huge corporate accounts. You dont get a fair shot if youre a regular customer, and you wont build a relationship like you would at a local liquor store. St. Louis would be better without Total Wine. If you want a great selection go to one of our locals: Lukas Liquors or The Wine and Cheese Place. Even better, go shop at your neighborhood seller. Even if they charge a little more, theyll take great care of you and not work to take advantage of you like Total Wine does. They suck.

Theres no doubt the selection here is great. My wife and I spent about 40 minutes picking unique gifts for the holidays. At checkout, I was asked for my ID, which I presented. My wife, who was without her purse for our holiday shopping (didnt drive, wasnt paying), was then asked for hers. Our business was refused. I asked for an explanation from the manager: I was told it was policy that all members of a group, regardless of how old they look, need to present valid ID to prove age and checkout. I asked about the family with a pre-teen that was allowed to check out just prior to us. "It doesnt apply when its obvious they are young." Uh, what? We left, and I returned on my own. I was again refused, and told I would be refused (even by myself) for 24 hours. May as well make it indefinite ban, because we wont ever be back. There are other local establishments thatll gladly (and did) have our business without treating paying customers like this.

Disagree with their ID policy. My husband and I were both carded since we both looked "under 30". I was the only one paying so I think I should be the only one IDed. I understand this policy is used by other places, however it opens the door to age discrimination. How do they know hes not my son? How do they know hes not my brother (because my husband is asian and I am white? And why would that matter? But the cashier said if "he were my brother they would not ID")? Very confused, and disagree with this policy. I understand who they are aiming it at, but it has turned me away as a customer for life. As a side note, no other Total Wine places have this policy or have not enforced it to us before.

I tried this place just to see what they had in French red wines. Big store, helpful folks that dont know what they are talking about but claim to be experts on everything. I bought a Chateau Landat 2014 they rated at 92 and had on promotion for $16. Waited in line for 10 minutes. It was the worst red wine I can recall ever having tasted. It was moldy and vinegary, and not fit to drink. When compared to the Chariot ($4.99 at Trader Joes in the same center) it was a distant second and I threw away the rest of the bottle and drank the Chariot label! I hesitate to give them one star.

This place has a great selection and I really enjoy browsing, I give it 3 stars because there are no signs in the store that EVERY person in a group needs an ID. We spent 20 minutes in the store only for my husband, with an ID, to be refused to purchase even one bottle of alcohol, because I didnt have my ID on me. That was a really embarrassing experience. You can buy from the store with your kids under 21 and have no ID for them but you cant buy with your spouse who doesnt have ID.

Great selection, people in the isles were knowledgeable and helpful, prices only little less than the grocery stores, if that. BUT the people working the check out could care less about customer service. The checkout woman barely acknowledged I was there and talked to another checker the whole time. it appeared she didnt really want to be there. This happened both visits to the store. I wont be back.

Ask for Brenda if you are not sure what to get! She is the best! She helped me pick out some amazing wines for my party of 10. Everyone raved about her choices! She made my first trip to Total Wine so fun and taught me a little something about wine! Basically she helped make my party a hit! Thank you, Brenda! And thank you Total Wine for the amazing choices and great prices! I will be back...

Great selection and amazing prices on some wines. They have a "Mix and Match 6" selection, as well, that is great for getting a variety for a party or yourself. Their staff was very helpful and knowledgeable when assisting me in locating a specific grape from a specific region. The aisles can feel a little crowded, but that fits the big box wine emporium thing theyre going for.

This is the third state I have been to a total wine. This is just as good as every other location. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have a huge selection of local craft beers. They often have the rarest large format bottles. The wine selection is second to none in the region. Be careful, if you go in you will walk out with more bottles than you anticipated.

Fredrick below is a baby! The whole establishment sucks because of one situation. *rolls eyes* Never been to a place with such massive selection. Staff well informed & educated. Amazing depth with bottles $100, $200, $300 and beyond. Craft beer selection deeper than Ive ever seen. So unless youre like 1 Star Fredrick..... Youll love this place

Great selection, great prices. You can find wines here from Napa for instance that are typically only found through their wine clubs. Very good selection of beer. Very good selection of spirits including somewhat hard to find spirits like Ocean vodka and Lucid absinthe. They also sell cigars.

Just an awesome experience. I very seldom go in & come right out for taking my time walking around looking at their huge selection of things youve never heard of yet alone seen. And then the pricing is far below any competitor where you currently may be shopping.

I was surprised and pleased with the professional staff and their excellent wine knowledge. I thought this would be a store staffed with kids who didnt know the difference between a Barefoot wine and a Raumbauer - they proved me wrong. Angela

Our entire party was carded, for just buying food. While I can understand doing so, if one of us was buying alcohol, but food? My fiancée was also very uncomfortable that her ID was scanned. Love the selection, but were not coming back.

Great selection and friendly staff. Nice that theyre almost constantly running wine and beer tasting every time I have been in here. The only downside is that their selection of cold craft beer (vs room temp) is a little sparse.
