Mixed reaction. They dont schedule tee times, so for our group of 13 it was a little bit of a scramble to tee off because as people arrived they were shuttled out ahead of us even though we had arranged a "start time" for our outing. But, the kicker was that the starter put a two-some and a three-some out ahead of the foursome in front of us on the back nine, even though at least one of the guys in the threesome had no idea how to play golf or how to get moving after butchering several shots. No idea what they thought they were doing. A nice two hour front nine was ruined by a three hour back nine. The condition of the course has improved and was acceptable, but there was no way to enjoy the round with such a slow back nine. The management did little after we made several calls to the pro shop. Its obvious they are only interested in jamming as many bodies out on the course as the can with no regard to the quality of play. And I doubt this will change because its clear by the swarm of golfers that they get more play than they can handle in spite of this chronic problem (I saw reviews from years ago with the same complaint). I wont be going back anytime soon and I would guess few if any from our group will be back, either. Just because you can overload the course doesnt mean you should. I guess the attraction is the $42 round of golf.

I am not a fan of this golf course. Every time I have played it there have been issues. The first time I played there were no greens. The greens were basically non existent during the summer. The second time I played there was a large back up because of slow play. This is not a course in which slow play should be an issue. In fact, there are 27 holes so the staff should be able to spread the golfers out. As far as the course, it is not very tight when it comes to tee shots. There are a few holes that line each other so even if you hit a terrible drive you still have the opportunity to get to the green from another fairway. I cant say much about the greens because they have never been in shape when I played the course.

Played the Back 9 and stakeholders 9. The stakeholders for the most part was in good shape. The grass was dry and there are some tough places, but playable. The greens played at different speeds, but acceptable for the price. The back 9 greens were in VERY bad shape. Some of them had patches completely without grass. Tons of weeds and other bad growth in the greens as well. One of the par 3 tee boxes on the back 9 was LITERALLY nothing but dirt. There was easily a 100sqft area with not a single blade, so we had to play from closer tees.

Had a buddy flying into town for business, Had time to play some golf. Found this course on Google. I had never played here before. Had questions after reading other google reviews, but called and made a tee time. Was very surprised. When I questioned the staff on the prior reviews ( which were older) I was told that they had worked to address each of them. And it looks like they have. The course is in great shape, Greens were beautiful. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. We definitely enjoyed our round. I will be back

Overall, this is a VERY short course even from the tips. There isnt a true par-5 out there. From the tips, Im usually hitting a 4-5 iron into the par 5s. There are at least three holes with driveable par 4s. This is a great course if youre a beginner and need to build some confidence, or a seasoned veteran of golf whos been playing terrible lately and need to boost your scoring confidence. Its generally in OK shape and very friendly to walk the front 9. The back 9 can be a little tougher to walk.

I just played RGA today. The greens were recently aired but the price was the same. The course overall is okay. I would not recommend playing until the greens are grown back. Several of the tee boxes are not playable. The course could be a really good course if an investment is made into the greens, around the greens and tee boxes. The roughs are touch as the you can loose your ball in the rough if you do not pay attention. Right now, dont play on the course until the greens are grown back.

I play out at RGA often and love the golf course. The rates are a great price especially in the summer when after 5pm you can walk for $14. The course is in great shape with immaculate greens and fairways. The staff is professional and polite and will help you with anything from good food and beverages to slow players in front of you. Its close to NCSU campus and an easy drive from anywhere in Raleigh! I highly recommend everyone give this course a try at some point.

Course is a dump! Cart path is like off road rock climbing, seriously you pay $40 dollars to play and they cant even put some cold patch in the holes, the superintendent is a sad, fat, and rude individual who constantly rides around while people are playing golf. I have seen that the superintendent,Nick Lentz, even sprays hazardous chemicals on the course while people are playing which exposes them to God knows what ..smh!!!

Played there several times, and was paying around 28 bucks with military discount. Went 2 weeks ago and the price was up to 43 bucks and the guy at the counter said "we do not give any military discount and if you were getting one it was a mistake". That did it for me, the course is not a 43 dollar course so I have been playing Wilmar and Crooked Creek for around 32 bucks.

This course is poor. The greens are terrible; slow, bumpy and uneven. There is no decernible fairway. Poor layout and boring course. And expensive $40 riding, shouldnt have been more than $15. The staff was nice though, just wish they had a better product to work with. Any review on this course greater than 3 stars is from a person who knows nothing about golf.

This is a classic American golf course with wide open fairways on the front 9 and a nice challenge on the back. Fun par 3s are followed by long and scenic par 5s. It may look easy at a glance but you will find few courses that offer the right balance of fun and frustration. Greens kept in good shape and always a good time.

Greens are very slow and had not been cut. If youre a decent golfer, lower than an 15 handicap, youre going to want to pass on this course. Lots of other courses out there in this area that have much better greens and are in much better condition.

RGA is a Raleigh staple. The greens were in solid shape, but the fairways and rough could use some tlc. Its not a long course, nor is it particularly challenging, but it is a fun track to play every now and then.
