Very decent course. I played this course 4 times in August with a buddy of mine and it was perfect for us. We wanted a course that was not crowded, not too expensive and good for bogey golfers like us. We would tee off right before the afternoon leagues and 3 of the 4 times we were never rushed or slowed down by other golfers, in fact it was like we had the course to ourselves, so that was awesome. It was $24 each with a cart for 18, this is acceptable, if it was a little cheaper Id feel better, but its not pricey by any means. The staff was friendly to us, they have a ranger who we saw on the course a few times, but he was never obtrusive at all. They have gas carts that are old, but do their job well. The greens were decent, although a little flat. My only complaints would have to be the tee boxes and the fairways as both are just green and a little too high for my tastes. There is no fairway grass and we sometimes had a hard time finding our ball in the fairway because the "grass" was a little high. Also, the yardages are WAY off and need to be updated. I hit my drives far but I doubt I hit it 360 when I landed on the green on a par 4. There is no sand, which is nice for me since I hadnt golfed in a year or so and didnt need the frustration. I did have my best round ever at this course, but then again, it isnt Oakmont. Now, in addition to the other things we liked about this course I have to mention the beauty of some of the views. It is out in the middle of nowhere and has some great elevations which lead to beautiful open sky and very nice scenery. A real gem is the par 3 #11, it truly is a stunning hole. The first time we played we skipped10-12 since when we made the turn there was a league teeing off on the back so we asked the ranger if there was a way to get ahead of them and he obliged. The next time we were sad that we missed it the first time so we stuck around a little longer and enjoyed the view (i.e. hit a few extra shots trying to land on the green). :) I really dont understand Peters review below especially since he doesnt go into detail, but if youre looking for a course thats not too crowded, not too expensive and is a good place to have fun and get back in the groove, I would highly recommend Rose Ridge. I wish I could give it a 3.5 rating, since a 4 seems too high with respect to other great courses Ive played, but 3 seemed too low. It is in no way a 4 star course comparatively, but 4 stars fits since it was the perfect course for what I was looking for.

May 2011: Amazingly rude staff for not a great course. Apparently it doesnt take customer service to run a sub par golf course. Is in poor shape and you can find alot better for the same price. Updated March 2012: So a new season, give it another try, figure a good place to have my kid hit a few balls. So we called ahead of time to make sure everything was ok with bringing two kids and a rider, and it seemed ok over the phone. I was prepared to pay for three golfers. So we get there, and actually try to figure out how we are playing AGAIN and finally were told "no, you cant play." So rather than make a little cash with minimal damage to their already poor golf course, youd rather be a jerk. Unbelievable, these people obviously dont care about anything from the condition of their dog track course to how they treat human beings. If you want the best example of back woods red neck management in western pa, go to Rose Ridge. Actually I apologize, Im sure there are private game land areas with mobile home club houses which have more maintained landscaping and a staff who has more common courtesy and better manners.

Customer service does not exist a Rose Ridge Golf Course. I took two ten years old kids to play golf at this course on October 12 Columbus day. I was not going to golf but instead instruct them and drive the golf cart. I was charged $20 each for the two kids and $10 for me just as a ride along for nine holes. When I question the cashier why would both kids have to pay full cart fee he told me that at sometime one of the two would be in the cart. The only way I could pay the lesser walkers fee for the one kid is if he never rode in the cart. He then threaten me and told me if I took this option he would definitely be watching and that kid better never ride the cart. Great customer service??? It end up costing me $50 for two 10 year old boys to play 9 holes of golf. If you have kids and want them to golf stay away from Rose Ridge. Now I know why there were less than 25 golfers on this course on a holiday and beautiful weather.

This has to be the WORST course in Pittsburgh. $32.00 for riding 18 holes!!!! The golf GODS must be sick that this place is listed as a golf course. 1st off CASH ONLY... now I know why, Golf carts covered in bacteria and mold because they are left outside all year, no markers anywhere to tell you pin placement, distance to the green ( blue, white, red) , dirt tee boxes, crabgrass everywhere on the tee, in the fairway, greens are like a fairways at a nice course, and disease/ brown dirt all over the greens. this is a course for someone that is just learning how to golf not a serious player. If you drink a 12 pack of beer in 18 holes this place is for you....Terrible.

Look, lets be realistic about this course. If you are new to golf or still learning and want a place that you can make mistakes and not hold people up, this course is perfect. Spent a Saturday knocking back some beers with buddies, playing poorly and having a blast. Ive worked on a grounds crew at a golf course, so ya, the greens are terribly maintained and the fairway and rough are clearly not cut enough. If you want Oakmont, then pony up and put on your best outfit, but it seems a little unfair to slam this course when its pretty clear when you pull up what youre going to get from it. For what it is, its perfect, if you want upscale, look elsewhere.

Some people will complain about any and EVERYTHING. $24 for 18 holes and cart ? what were you expecting ? Some places I play its $24 for cart alone. Lenny and his crew are the GREATEST people you ever want to meet. Leagues do start in the afternoon, but play is very relaxing for a morning round. And Lenny......you still look great for your age.....almost lifelike !! This is an allround "GOOD" golf course.

This is a very sub-par golf course. The fairways and greens are poorly maintained, the tee boxes arent cut often enough and the yardages are extremely inaccurate. This would be an acceptable golf course for the beginner or for the casual golfer looking to get out and try to improve their game without the pressure of having scratch golfers rushing you. Another decent note is that the price is right.
