Additional Insights

Scotia Cinema is a second-run, family-owned theater that has been a staple in the Scotia community for years. It offers a cozy, nostalgic movie-going experience that stands in contrast to the impersonal nature of big-box theaters. The cinema is particularly known for its community-centric approach, affordable pricing, and the quality of its concessions, especially the popcorn.

There is no better movie venue for 20 miles in any direction. The film selection is top notch. The management is all about community. If you want to enjoy a great conversation about films linger a few minutes after the show and chat with the owner, who is also the person that probably sold you your ticket! The popcorn is excellent. Even the drinks are reasonably priced. When I go to any other chain theater I bring my own water and snacks. Here at Scotian Cinema I dont mind spending a few dollars on drinks and snacks because I know it helps keep a great venue alive.

I adore this theater so much I rarely go to movies anywhere else. If you havent been, go. The seats are comfortable. Its clean. The staff are pleasant. The popcorn is made with real butter and the prices are about half of big theater prices. The Vaudeville history speaks to you. The best part is that the small (but not too small) size of the theater creates a feeling of watching a movie with your neighbors. People smile at each other when they leave, partly because they share a sense of community through their love of this special Scotia treasure.

Since going to Scotia Cinema, we totally gave up going to other theaters and its been several years now. Its such a more pleasant experience than the big box theaters! Youll get so much value all the way around, you just cant beat it anywhere! Very clean, and comfortable. We should all be grateful to have such a place like this to go, and if you havent been yet, try it! I have never bothered to write a review on anything before, but this theater gets two thumbs up. Thank you Scotia Cinema for keeping that small town feel, its a lost art!!

I like the cheap tickets and affordable snacks, but the ticket seller is the most rude person I have ever received customer service from. He is a tall male in his 50s with gray hair and a beard. Long story short, he yelled at my 11 year old sons friend and when I told him that all that he had to do was ask the boy to be quiet, and yelling was poor customer service, his response to me was "poor customers get poor customer service." A very obnoxious employee. I will not be going back to this theatre.

Clean, great sound, great picture quality, decent snack and drink offerings and good price for tickets. Wed probably go a lot more often but they dont take debit cards and dont discount ticket bundles of 10 or 20 anymore so we stopped giving tickets as gifts to family members and stocking stuffers so it does not occur to us to remember to look there before the big theaters. I make my husband stand in line and deal with the owner, though. I hope the kids keep it going for a long time.

A great little theatre. They dont have the movies as soon as they are released, but instead show movies after they are no longer available in most theatres. Because of this, the price is significantly cheaper. If I really want to see a movie as soon as it is released, I will go to another theatre, but most of the time I simply wait for it to come to Scotia. Check it out!

Dear Mr. Murphy I have taken my sons to this theater since they were 5 & 7 (now 15 & 17 & dont go to movies with parents any longer) and not once did an attendant have to ask them to quiet down. If an attendant had to ask your 11 year old son to tone it down then it would appear that you have failed as the parent (and not the attendant) to do YOUR job.

Love the prices and the popcorn is the best. Been going here as long as I can remember. But the person who sells the tickets who I assume is the owner, because I dont think he would have a job otherwise is miserable and rude. I have never had a good encounter with him, and Im glad he doesnt venture far from his little window selling tickets.

This is a wonderful small-town theater. The movies are second-showing, but theyre good movies, and the ticket and concession prices are worth justifying the wait. The chairs are comfortable, the employees are attentive at their job. I do wish that they would take credit/debit cards, but at 5 dollars a ticket I really cant complain.

Best theatre for movies. They dont show first run movies but have movies that have just had their first showing. Movie ticket price is half of first run theaters along with prices for popcorn and beverages. You can see relatively new movies with popcorn and a beverage for the cost of a just a ticket at the first run theaters.

If youre able to wait a little for a movie highly suggest this place. The movie prices are very reasonable. Great for bringing children since their ticket prices are cheaper and kids always want food which is reasonably priced. Parking is somewhat limited on busy days so I suggest arriving a little early on weekends.

This is not a modern, over priced, arcade theater. This is a small, prefect sized, reasonably priced, family oriented second run theater. Popcorn is excellent. Good family run business. Love to support them whenever we can. Theyve been operating in Scotia a long time.

This is the place to see a film in the area. Staff is always friendly, prices are incredible, concessions are tasty. The only criticism is that family films are often packed with children on the weekends or during school breaks.

Ive been going to the Scotia Cinema for years. You can see a movie and still afford to have popcorn and a drink. Its very clean and a beautiful place. They have hearing devices available. Always friendly.

Ive been going here since 1997. Its a really great place for a cheap date with classy movie going experience. Not to mention how many kids you can get in for cheap and get the popcorn :)

Amazing Prices ($5 Adult) good thearte and selection of food. Only have to wait about a month after a movie comes out to be at this Theatre (typically will last at theatre for a week)

Just terrific. State of the art technology at a ridiculous price. My kids love it too. So will yours. Just keeps getting better! And everyone who works there is friendly and helpful!!

Even the popcorn and soda are at a reasonable price. I would have felt guilty if I wanted to sneak something in, because the quality and price of the place has bought my loyalty.

This is such a wonderful theater. Its cozy and homey. I would like to thank the staff for hanging in there for so many years so that we can see affordable movies close by.

I just moved to Scotia. This Scotia Cinema movie theater, if I wanted to see a movie sometime in the future, is just a walking distance from my new apartment.

Inexpensive tickets, retail price refreshments, and a sound system that isnt perpetually cranked past ear-bleeding levels. What more could you ask for?

JO

Great prices including concession snacks. Balcony area seats too. Movies are a few weeks out from opening days, but overall a very nice family place.

AN

This place is great. Cheap movies and concessions with an old time feel. They even have a balcony to sit. The theater is clean and well kept also
