Manhattans best-kept secret!! An incredible park for walking, running, reading, sight-seeing, relaxing...Fort Tryon Park is a hidden gem. Much more humble than Central Park, it is CPs quiet little sister, yet it is just as majestic, beautiful and just as much a getaway from the bustle of the big city. Fort Tryon Park rests on a bit of a geographic anomaly for Manhattan...a large hill (in fact, the highest natural point in Manhattan is not far, at Bennett Park on 183rd st). The hills here provide a unique park experience for NYC, with winding paths crisscrossing throughout. There are wonderful, stunning views/overlooks of the Hudson River below/to the West, and to the East, wide vistas of the Bronx. There is a beautiful, well-manicured garden (the Heather garden) near the 190th St. entrance, and plenty of open green space for picnicking, and benches for reflecting, reading, relaxing. There are various fields and hills perfect for sports, and even some sledding hills in the winter (yes, sledding in Manhattan!). For runners: The multiple hills and meandering paths can make for the creation of varied/challenging running routes. If just running on the road (Margaret Corbin Dr.), its almost exactly 1mile from the entrance, around the cloisters loop and back. New Leaf cafe is a quality restaurant on the park grounds, and the Cloisters--an extension of the Met--is also located on the grounds, an easy walk from the entrance of the park. The Park hosts many events throughout the year, some weekly (garden/grounds tours, yoga, etc) and also some annual events (Revolutionary war re-enactments and the annual Medieval Festival in the Fall (which is quite a unique event in and of itself!)), in addition to occasional concerts and other miscellaneous events throughout the year. It is quiet and rarely crowded, and is a sight to visit year-round. A beloved park by locals and visitors alike.

What is there to do in New York City while waiting for your riders to get done a track meet at the Armory down on Fort Washington Ave? Head north about a mile and a half and you will find something you might not expect, a nice park to take a walk around, view some of the city from a higher elevation or even have a nice meal at the New Leaf Restaurant. Living in a rural area but going to NYC several times a year for work I have always looked for places where you can get out and stretch your legs and even experience something out of the ordinary. When I first started walking around the park I noticed some flower gardens that had reminded me of a movie my wife and I liked to watch, "Youve Got Mail" but when I went home i googled it and saw that the location it was filmed was a lot further south but if you thought that looked like a nice setting at the end of the movie then you will like this as well. When the situation arises where I need to have a spot to relax I will return and maybe even stop in for that nice meal I had mentioned though maybe not since I dont like eating at the nicer places alone.

Quite often when we have visitors we end up bringing them to Fort Tryon Park and the surrounding area. Fort Tryon Park offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city and is a testament to the city planners who had the wisdom to keep some parts of the city wild. Other than the park itself, the main attraction here is The Cloisters. Even if you dont go into the museum, youll be impressed by the beauty of the building. If you enter the park from the north youll have a decent climb so be prepared. Fall is probably the coolest time of year to visit because of the foliage in the park and across the river. In winter make sure to watch your footing because there tends to be ice/snow on the paths. You cant go wrong though. The park is good for a leisurely stroll or a jog. Regardless of your activity, youll enjoy your time here.

Precioso parque, lleno de árboles grandes, con bellas vistas del río que le dan un aire único. Vale la pena hacer el recorrido por el parque, explorarlo más; ya sea para llegar a los Cloisters, o regresando de esa visita. Sería conveniente que hubiera más señalética de qué cosas hay y en qué direcciones. A veces para evitar perdernos, dejamos de ver cosas que valen la pena

A truly beautiful park way up at the northern end of Manhattan. Im a native, STREET New Yorker and this was my first time here, thats how off the beaten path it is. Miles of meandering paths, at least one fine(their weird, not mine) restaurant, and... The Cloisters Museum. What a great place. Like all of our museums the admission is suggested, so you can pay anything you can or nothing at all. Medieval catholic art is the theme (although Im still wondering where unicorns fit into Catholicism) (youll see) and still I enjoyed the intricacy, humor and racisms of the displays. All in all definitely a trip to put on your family list or your weekend with nothing to do list.

Out of the way for the less adventurous tourist but this park offers some of the best views in the city. Many turrets look out over the Hudson offering a surprisingly beautiful view of the forest covered Jersey shoreline. This park is also home to The Cloisters Museum. A branch of the Met this museum holds many beautiful and rare examples of early European religious art. Tourists, get there while you can before the city decides to make you pay full admission fee! Thats right, Met museums are PAY WHAT YOU WANT. Dont be fooled by the "suggested donation" signs. Though, a few dollars a head allows the museums to remain cheap and high-quality.

No matter the season or weather, when something major happens in life and I need a place to sit down and rethink my life - Fort Tryon is where I go. It can be quite a ride from most of NYC, but its absolutely worth the ride, I promise. You get a spectacular view of Manhattan (since the Park is on top of a large hill), George Washington Bridge, and New Jersey. On top of that The Met has a satellite museum here, The Cloisters, which is absolutely worth a trip. It also has a small cafe you can eat at, which I havent been to myself, but it you get hungry after exploring the vastness of Fort Tryon, its an option you can try.

Un parque maravilloso, muy tranquilo y, sobre todo, familiar. Tienes diferentes zonas de juego y pequeños lugares medievales muy chulos. Un contacto directo con la naturaleza, si quieres visitar ideal para traer a la familia. Una pena que algunas zonas tengan bastante basura por culpa de la gente.

This is my favorite park in the city. It gives you perfect view of the Hudson River, G.Washington Bridge, The Palisades and the Cloisters. I love the fact that I live very near this park. 1. There are so many activities especially in the summer. (Sunset yoga, tai chi, morning fitness exercise, dance) 2. It is very accessible via public transportation. 3. The Cloisters 4. The Heather Garden is so beautiful and even has a Japanese cherry blossom tree. (In bloom during the spring) It has a very different beauty for each season but youre gonna love it.

Romantic!!! Just awesome for intimate family weddings! The restaurant is inside the marvelous park that has fantastic panoramic riverside drive views of the river and marinas! The best season from spring to summer times to enjoy the green, read and meditate in Gods goodness! The multicolor blooming of flowers and the evergreens as well as the amazing smell of pines and grass or simply to contemplate the huge shadows trees makes you feel relaxed and stress free!!! Peaceful and evoking! The medieval metropolitan museum exhibit is inside the park!
