As someone who probably spent have his teenager life here, I would have to say this is by far one of the most amazing parks to train at. The trails in the park are phenomenal and suitable for for beginners and pros alike. The park has many paths nearby the bridge, and alongside the bridge, there is another trail that leads north to Yonkers, which is called Putnam trail. If youre looking for a long straight run, I would recommend that trail for you. It has beautiful sights and even an awesome lake somewhere on the other side. As a non runner, this park also has a closed circuit trail that should be well suited for those who just want to walk and enjoy the bright sun. Along that circuit are little stations for working out, youll see some sit-up benches, and dip bars. At the northern quadrant of that circuit is also a canine fenced park in case you want to let your pet roam around.

This is Van Cortlandt Park. It contains the Van Cortlandt Golf Course, the oldest public golf course in the US. The Van Cortlandt Manor is the oldest farmhouse in NYC and is run by the Daughters of the American Revolution. It has the second best cross country track in the US and other hiking trails such as the John Muir trail. This winter there was a skating rink and there is a swimming pool open in the summer. There is a running club, a birding club, a nature center run by the Urban Park Rangers, and an equestrian center. The water treatment facility in the South East section was the source of a deal that gave the park 10 million dollars for improvements. I have never heard of Mosholu Park and if there is one it probably is not on the Bronx River Parkway as that is not near Van Cortlandt Park.

Love love love this park! Its a huge park and got so many things to offer. People run, bike, hike, play quartets, play sports, do bbq and picnics (though I wish people clean up better afterwards). The park also offers numerous walking tours and events. I did a couple of 5K races. Im not a runner but I made it! Fall foliage is beautiful - it mesmerized me one morning. All shades of yellow/orange leaves fell off the trees as soft wind blew. The Spring time, the park is so green, it just makes me happy being in there. Dyckman house tour was nice too. The tour guide can be a bit too passionate at times but hes very knowledgeable regardless. You have an option to do a self tour. Did I mention, the horse stable, golf course, outdor pool and tennis court? Yeah, the park has that too :)

Third largest park in NYC and almost twice the size of Central Park, Van Cortlandt has everything from horse riding to miles of trails and a beautiful parade ground not to mention an 18th Century mansion where George Washington left from in the final act of the American Revolution. It is also home to Americas first and oldest municipal golf course with a landmark club house and picturesque Van Cortlandt Lake right behind it. The park is big for runners and bikers on the 36 mile Putnam trail that goes all the way up into Putnam County past Westchester or the parade grounds for runners. Dont be surprised if you spot deer or coyotes here. Both call Van Cortlandt Park or Vannie as locals call it, home.

Yet another glorious park of the Bronx. Van Cortlandt Park is as beautiful in its landscaped areas as it is, in its more unkempt and wilder parts. There are plenty of recreational facilities and golf lawns for the sport enthusiasts. For everyone else, there are miles and miles of immersive and serene woodland trails, bicycle paths, views of the lake, and plenty of bird watching opportunities as there are varied species of beautiful birds that call the park home. Dont miss the Bridle Path when there during a spring or autumn day!

Love this park for the biking trails. The Putnam bike trail is great. Leading all the way up to Yonkers. There is a beautiful Lake by the side of the trail and plenty of places to take pics or just relax and enjoy the scenery. There are also many other things to do in this park. A word of caution...this park is huge so I dont recommend it for ladies to wander alone after it gets dark or too early in the morning. You never know what lurks deep inside. But take someone with you and enjoy!

This hidden park is a gem and has quit a few things to do. You can go for a relaxing jog while you watch people play cricket, soccer, baseball, handball, basketball, and golf. We must not forget the swimming which is open during the summer and the laid back barbecue area. If you are into photography you will have the opportunity to take great pictures of the wild life and nature. You do not drive? Not a problem because this park is also located near public transportation.

Great park ! They have tennis courts, a track, a playground for kids, basketball courts, walking trails, and many other things . A lot of buses also stop here and its near some stores and restaurants including a Burger King . Also, people seem very friendly on this side of town . Ice cream trucks also around during the spring and summer . Definitely worth checking out if youre on this side of the borough .

Its a beautiful place to run, play cricket (for those of you that do), have a picnic, nature watch, and just about all the park activities you can think of. The back hills are especially nice on hot summer days, providing shade and cool breezes. There are many trails you can follow deep in side the northern part of the park. The South County Trail is frequented by many, taking you as far north as Elmsford.

I love Van Cortlandt Park during all seasons. The park is endless and you can bike ride thru trails into yonkers. .you can swim during the summer in the pool...jog on the track and stop if you like to work out on the equipment ...theres a dog park...and horse rides. The enjoyment is endless and up to you. Even though I feel safe i would like to see more Park Rangers or police. Its a big park.

First my family and I used to love VanCortlandt Park, but now its to restricted and where we gather to make the barbeque its not specious enough for so many people that goes to that park. Also, they have close bathrooms that is closer to where you accommodate your delve w/your family. In the area of barbecuing there are parts that are mud wet "Marsh, bog". Those spots should be clean-up!!!

This is a massive park in Riverdale, Bronx that has outlets that extend to Yonkers. This park has something to offer everyone: has a dog park, public pool, BBQ grounds, golf course, hiking trails, a lake with ducks in them :), ice skating rink and horses!!! Every sports court/space (soccer, football, basketball, handball, tracks, cricket, bocce ball, paddleball).

Biggest park in New York, there are some places you can almost find silence from traffic, horses, the fairgrounds track, nice pool with volleyball on sand, grilling, the length of bike path that actually connects to the path through Yonkers, theres a track and field slash football stadium with handball courts and it about to have a new court and skatepark soon.
