My husband and I did a tour of the Shenandoah vineyards and Cave Ridge was by far the best of the ones we visited. Upon arriving, we walked through their courtyard into the tasting room. We were fortunate to have our tasting conducted by the owner, Randy. After talking with him we found out that he is also the winemaker. All of the wines that we tasted were excellent. This is one of the few times in my life that I didnt taste a wine that was not pleasing. I especially give gold stars to the Riesling (very fruity, but not sweet) and the Chambourcin (unbelievably smooth). My husband and I ordered a bottle and a cheese plate and sat out on their balcony; overlooking the courtyard and vineyard. The vantage also provided a splendid view of the Shenendoah countryside. All in all a great winery that we will want to come back and visit again soon.

Cave Ridge has some of the best wines we have tasted from VA wineries! They have an excellent tasting room, and great views if you want to enjoy a glass or bottle of wine after your tasting. We were seated at a table with wine club members, and got great service from our tasting server Kelly. We asked enough really hard questions about the wines that Kelly eventually tracked down Randy the owner and winemaker. Randy treated us to some wine club only selections which were also excellent, and answered all of our questions.

Great Location and Great Wines We have been there three times now and each visit was excellent. We too had the pleasure of having Randy host our second tasting. What an educational and wonderful experience that was. Last weekend we attended their music event and that too was excellent. An absolutely beautiful location, gracious staff, and, oh yea, the wines are wonderful. We love all of their whites and with Randys help we are coming around to the reds. Well worth the 50 mile drive for us to get there!

Not really impressed by either the wines or the service. Did the full tasting, the best wine was "good" at best. They do have a syrah and a port (which based on other reviews we were looking forward to the port!) But both were underwhelming-we walked out disappointed and empty handed. Prices are on the expensive side for the area too (6 or 10 for the tasting with small pours, 35 for the port, 20-26 for the standard wines) would not recommend-Shenandoah vineyards is probably your better bet.

We would have loved to do a tasting here, but when we entered the tasting room we were not greeted or acknowledged in any way. Maybe we were supposed to do something prior to going up to the tasting bar? If so, it definitely wasnt clear. We waited for a while and then left, which is a bummer because the property was really lovely and the wines sounded interesting.

Great view, great wines, wonderful people. We loved their dessert wines though we are red wine drinkers. The Taste of Shenandoah event is so fun every year. We plan to join the wine club and come back often.

Make sure you get the cheese plate and the pepperoni roll! Only the reserve wines seemed worth drinking, the 2011 chambourcin was lacking, but the Fandango and bleu cheese combo was out of this world!

The view is great, the winebis great, the staff are great, the owner Randy is fantastic, and its all priced extremely well. You could do a lot worse than stay for a few hours here on a weekend.

I am an enthusiast of Cave Ridges wines. They are among the best table wines in the Shenandoah region especially the Voniere.
