We joined their wine club, everything was nice. It was never outstanding but it was never bad. I have lots of thoughts on this winery but Im only going to post about the straw that broke the camels back. My husband and I were going out of the country for two weeks (Italy, to taste some truly outstanding wine) and typically we drive out to the winery to pick up our wine club shipment but we knew we wouldnt have a chance to before we left. So we emailed the owner, Carl, and requested that he ship the wine to us instead. We went out of the country in early September and we emailed him in July - plenty of time for this to be taken care of. He responded and said, absolutely. We double checked the address with him, authorized him to charge the additional amount for shipping and that was it. Weeks go by and we dont receive the wine and we dont hear anything from Carl. At this point its mid-August and were getting a little nervous because we leave in three weeks and we dont want the wine to be delivered while were gone. We email Carl again and he responds, apologizing and telling us that he had gotten wrapped up in some things and forgot to ship it. No problem, we still had plenty of time. We told him that was fine and thanks for responding. Two more additional weeks go by and we never hear from him and we never receive the wine. Keep in mind that weve already paid for everything. We email him the week before we leave and tell him to not ship anything (not that it seemed like he was going to anyway) and that if we didnt hear a response we were going to ask for a refund. We never heard a response. We get back from Italy (late September) and email Donna, Carls wife, and told her that we were charged for wine we never received, we would like a refund and we would like to be removed from the wine club. We received a very short and blunt email back from Carl that said, "Weve refunded you for the wine and we will remove you from the wine club." And that was it! No apology, no explanation, nothing. I was floored. I expected some sort of reason or excuse and at the minimum I expected an apology. What I was left with was the feeling that they just never got around to shipping the wine because they didnt feel like it, didnt want to? Im not sure. And that they werent at all sorry for it. Which is really too bad and disappointing. My husband and I are very flexible and forgiving people and I wish we had a better experience here but unfortunately the complete lack of responsibility and customer service is enough to keep us away from this winery.

Attended a dessert/wine pairing class this past weekend. While the content of the class was good, the event was overpriced and under-delivered. For the $40 price and a 2:30-5:00 proposed time frame, I expected multiple "courses" and much more interaction than was offered. There were 6 small pours of purchased wines and a refusal to provide a refill when someone wanted to experiment a bit more with the dessert/wine matches. We were even supposed to buy our own water apparently. The event was over in an hour when there was clearly nothing more to be said. This "winery" claims to grow 6 varieties of grapes, but there were only two being tasted at the time of our visit. None of the wines included in the class were estate wines. It appears that this winery is more of a wine shop where they rely on distributors to find unique wines for import and resale. Attending the class provided only a "two for one" discount in the tasting room, again a disappointment for the cost of the ticket. The winery is young, but without some changes to make their sales approach more competitive, I do not look for it to be around very long.

The Little Washington Winery is one of the most personable, knowledgeable and beautiful wineries you can visit - in the US or abroad. They make their own increasingly fabulous wines, but they also venture further afield through the Dirt Road Wine Club, which presents carefully selected wines from all over the world from small wineries that must be located on a dirt road. Carl and Donna Hendrickson, the owners of LWW, also run a wine academy which will make you quickly into an international wine expert eager for more. All these aspects make the conversations at LWW very lively and interesting - walking into the tasting room is like joining a wonderful party. Add to that the porch and grounds, where often festivals are held, with their most fantastic views, and the warm welcome by Carl and Donna and their friendly and capable staff: the total package makes a visit to LWW a most rewarding experience, like dropping in on dear old friends - generous ones, with a great wine cellar!

Lovely winery - great bootcamp. They will teach you good stuff about how to enjoy your wine... they have fabulous award winning wines as well as wines that they discover and import to share with their usually 10 wine lineup for tasting. Tasting is free for club members - and has been for a guest whenever I bring one. I LOVE their wine. They get busy there but its worth a little patience. The bootcamp is something I highly recommend as I have really enjoyed wine so much more since then.

My wife and I took a wine-tasting "bootcamp" class here. It was well timed and well laid out, giving ample time to listen, and taste the wines to understand what to look for in various types of reds and whites. Also - they offered a great selection of wines from elsewhere.

I loved our tasting experience here! Great wine, stuff, property. They also have sommelier that travels the world and brings back the wine, which they include in tasting! Really really fun! Definitely want to go back for a class!

One of our favorite wineries! Donna, Carl and the staff are always welcoming and fun to chat with. We enjoy their concept and love being introduced to new wines from around the world every visit.

Wine class was a lot of fun and then we tasted their wines, which were all solid wines.
