Always the best relaxing time at Prince Michel winery!!! My husband and I were there Saturday for the annual BBQ for their wine club members, for FREE ! As always we had a fabulous time, nice tasting, always so friendly, no matter who is your pourer. Our Saturday was even more fun because we stayed in one of the "suites". Those suites are so nice, well decorated, and so european, which we love ! Kristen ( the owner ) even made rounds at all the tables to say hello to all the club members, and spending a little time to chat, which we thought was so nice of her to do ! We have stayed in every one of the suites and even more than once at each one. So relaxing and peacefull to sip wine on the front porch and enjoy the beauty! This winery is close to Charlottsville,VA and is on the way there, so its very convenient to stop by. We thank everyone at Prince Michel for being always so very kind, and doing an outstanding job, and going out of your way ...... for making everything so much fun !

My friend and I recently stopped at Prince MIchel on a Thursday afternoon on the way to Charlottesville. The service was absolutely atrocious. The staff had no interest in helping customers. They were focused on their cell phones and texting. No help with the wine tastings...just read the same script that was on the tasting list. They were actually complaining about having to handle bus tours. What a way to run a business...complaining about customers to other customers. Had purchased a couple of items in the gift show and found they had undercharged me. Pointed that out to them - and they changed the bill...but not one word of thanks. They forgot to give us the wine glasses that come with the tastings until reminded. They skipped a wine on the tasting because they had to open a new bottle. What a waste of time. Skip this place unless you like to be offended. Many other wineries in Virginia actually treat customers with respect and welcome them.

I have been a fan of this vineyard ever since I first tried both their red and white sweet reserve wines. Every time I have gone down 29 and passed by, I was always unable to stop, either due to business or unforeseen circumstances. This past weekend, while on my way back from staying with a good friend, we decided to stop in for a visit. The tasting room and facilities are gorgeous! My friend, who knew little about wine was given a very good education by a wonderful lady (I wish I could remember her name). After tasting close to a dozen wines, including sharing sips, we finished our experience and purchased a bottle of the chocolate wine after loving the taste. I would love to come back here again with a small group of friends for an afternoon.

We went for a wine tasting and cheese pairing afternoon. They dont have a tour of the property. The self-guided "tour" is just like a museum around the shop inside the building. I wouldnt call it a tour. Their wine is Ok for Virginia. They have a lot of fruity choices, which is their thing, I suppose. Its similar to German/Austrian fruit wines, too sweet. For the quality of wine the prices are high. People are very nice though, not pushy at all in terms of sales. We walked into the vineyard ourselves, were not sure if its allowed though. We behaved properly, of course, didnt touch the grapes or soil. The tasting is simple: they take you to the shop, and pour small samples of wines, and cheese if you choose so.

After visiting 50+ Virginia wineries over the last 5 years, its become clear that Prince Michel is one of the best run wineries in the state. They do everything right - from customer service to special events and their wine is - of course - worth writing home about. They have a knack for pulling out unique favors. Symbius is particularly rich and complex. Completely worth the trip.

Staff not as engaging as others wineries I have visited. Wanted more information about recipes they have on their website and no one seemed to care about answering my questions or at least trying to assist. Bees at the front door were a turn off. Wines were OK. They do have some really good dessert wines (if thats what you like).

Visited today at 11 am, staff was very inattentive. We seemed like an inconvenience. Pourer seemed like she would rather be doing anything else than pouring for our tasting. The snacks available for purchase were not very good. The wines were mediocre, at best. Will not be visiting this winery again.

Every time we drive to Skyline, we would stop here. This time, we bought their white wine club membership for about 47 or something. Its a good deal, comes with free twice a year wine tasting and three bottles of good wine. We liked it every much. Next time we are going to do the red wine thing.

Good wine, good selection, great price and nice staff (older owners, kid staff on a college break). They seem to focus on merchandise, and there is stuff everywhere. They have a big room for parties/rehearsal dinners/receptions. Great turn off from the road on your way to Charlottesville.

Dont sign up for their wine club!! I signed up for their sweet wine club. They said they would ship the wine anywhere. Turns out they dont ship to Maryland. Also, they continued to bill me the next year even though the impression I got when I signed up was that it was a 1 time charge.

This is the Virginia Vineyard and Winery! Best tasting wine in the state! The winery offers a wine museum tour, wine tasting, a restaurant and lodgings. Menu, wine club, specials, vineyard picking tour

Great price for the tasting, but they need to concentrate more on quality of flavor and less on quantity.
