My poor rating is because of the way we were treated after we bought half-season tickets for two to the Hale Center Theater in Orem, Utah. No one at Hale Center Theater adequately explained how their Season Ticket system worked, or notified us when new plays started, which meant we were turned away from plays, missed plays, and permanently lost some of what we had paid for. Why didnt Hale Theater make good on the problem when we contacted them about it? They said it was against their policy, and there were no exceptions, no made up shows. When we did get tickets, the seats we got were poorer than expected, and on more than one occasion we noticed that adjacent patrons complained about their seat locations and even left the theater after the play started. We also noticed better seats that often went unused. Furthermore, in the middle of the 2011 season, Hale Center Theater changed their ticketing policy, no longer making reservations available over the phone. This was another inconvenience, meaning we had to either go to the theater days in advance or figure out how to negotiate their online reservation and ticketing system, which we found to not be so user friendly. We come from the old school, where the customer is always right. But in this day and age, that courtesy has gone the way of the Passenger Pigeon and Dodo Bird. I learned during my lengthy advertising career that one unhappy customer can turn hundreds, and even thousands away from a business, and apparently Hale Center Theater doesnt know this or doesnt care. Concerning the plays at the Hale Center Theater, they are great because the local actors and talent are great. But we dont recommend buying season tickets or the cheaper tickets.

I loved having season tickets last year. When I first starting attending the shows, I thought it would be disappointing being able to see other people and sitting around a small stage, like I could not immerse myself in the show. I was very wrong. The intimate setting made it much easier to connect with the show, and sometimes it was fun to see how others were reacting to it. And when I didnt want to watch the audience, it was very easy to forget they were there. After six shows or so I went to see my favorite musical at a very good playhouse with just a regular stage play, and I did not like it near as much as I used to. Circular, intimate stages are the way to go!

For musicals in an old-style theater in the round, this is awesome. However, I dont really like musicals very much, and I wish that they would at least do 2-3 shows a year that arent musicals. But, sadly they dont cater to my demographic. The costumes are top notch, and the actors are generally really good. Its not as professional as they make it out to be, but if you go in with modest expectation and know that youre always going to get a musical, then youll love this place. They have acting classes and workshops during the day, too. Parking is bad, but there are tons of businesses around that have open parking lots at night.

Hale Center Theater Orem is a small theater in the round. Its a very unique experience, but also very professional and high quality. Some of my favorite productions are of course A Christmas Carol each holiday season (sells out FAST), 110 in the Shade starring Broadway super star Audra MacDonald and Will Swenson and Les Miserables. They do have a standby line that starts when the doors open a half hour before the show starts and Ive generally had good luck with that if I missed getting tickets in advance.

A Christmas Carol is the best performance of this Dickens classic Ive ever seen. The play moves along quickly without losing any of the detail or flavor of Dickens writings. Well acted and stage settings well designed and I was amazed at how quickly and quietly objects were moved on and off stage. Costumes were also well designed and detailed; very attractive. The acting was superb! The musical opportunities enhanced rather than overwhelmed the movement of the play. BRAVO!!!

This is a really small theater so any show you see is an intimate experience. Any seat you pick is pretty darn good. People sit on all sides of the stage but they rotate things around so everyone can see. I saw Les Misérables with my girlfriend and it was fantastic. After the show we even got to look around at some of the lighting and stage effects they used. The building is a bit shabby but thats okay. Youll be glad you went.

We LOVE this theater! Very cozy and intimate theater experience. Weve seen several plays here, and we have never been disappointed. One of the most unique theater experiences around. Seats are very close (my feet are on the set in this picture - Tarzan). This theater group does an amazing job of getting creative with the space. The talent that comes through here is usually top-tier. You will be impressed! Well worth it.

This theater is awesome. Its a small theater in the round, with very well performed productions. Usually the actors are locals, but sometimes an actor with Broadway experience performs. Regardless, the performances are so fun, and this theater is great for a date night. Id highly recommend anyone to come and enjoy a show here.

We were surprised by how much we liked this cozy little theater. We came to see Tarzan and loved the performance. The music, costumes, and choreography were great. The theater is "in the round" and rather small so no matter where you sit youre in for an intimate, meaningful experience. Will definitely be coming back.

Wonderful community theater. We have season tickets here and in SLC but usually prefer the smaller intimate setting in Orem. Its amazing the talent they find for small community theater. We also love broadway, but would argue that our enjoyment here rivals that of many broadway shows weve seen.... Outstanding!

The theatre is small, but it makes it more personal, and you feel more like part of the story. We saw The Addams Family and Catch Me if You Can, and they were amazing performances! The actors/actresses have been acting for years and seem completely natural onstage. The staff is very friendly too.

Amazing play! I saw Tarzan, and everything, from acting, to environment, to costumes, to prices are top notch! As a theater fantic, this is exactly what I look for when I see a play! Definitely would recommend. Just make sure you know where youre sitting, as seats can be confusing.

Ive been a season ticket holder here since I was in grade school. The building is old and sometimes cramped, but the shows are excellent. The production level is better than any other community theater. They used to do more straight play comedies, now they do more musicals.
