The Brown is a pretty decent house which lacks some of the Whitneys primary faults: interior aisles in the orchestra provide better access to seats, which are in turn set on an acceptable rake with enough legroom for the average adult. My primary complaint is that the balcony is low enough to present a significant barrier to sound — something to keep in mind if youre going to see an opera or an orchestral performance. If you can, where non-amplified sound is important, opt for seats in the balcony or lower orchestra. Likewise, the digital supertitle displays have often exhibited a disappointing tendency to freeze — though there was far less of this in the most recent Kentucky Opera production that I saw. Otherwise, however, the Brown is a fairly good place to watch live theatrical performances of any stripe — and if you or the performers are having a really off night, youre allowed to bring drinks purchased at the bar into the house to help you through.

My family and some friends just experienced the worst play of our lives at the Brown Theatre and feel extremely ripped off. The Mikado performance was on the level of a junior high school operetta. The performers were weak, the interpretive concept a failure, irritating and distracting, and the idea to include politics and social causes into the Gilbert and Sullivan play was a very poor idea. To the director who booked the play, "what were you thinking?" Will be a while before we come back.

If you are late, even 10 minsultes, be prepared to get the absolutely WORST seats in the 3rdfloor balcony that get you zero visibility,or, the second options of the 1970s video experience feed to the lobby.

This is a beautifully restored venue where almost every seat is great. The architecture and ambiance make this a great venue to see a show. The only knock I have is the tight seats in the balcony.

The lines to get tickets were all over the place and the seating is congested no wiggle room at all. Also you will get charged extra for parking because they call it event parking which kinda sucks.

Beautiful theater in the historic Brown Hotel. There is a parking garage between 3rd and 4th, otherwise parking can be a bit challenging.
