For my Fiances birthday I decided to take him to a haunted house because one..he loves them and two..I am terrified of them so we never go. Until this year. I do not go to haunted houses so I have no clue where to take him. I was going to take him somewhere like Nightmare on 13th but my friend Chase mentioned to me that my fiance would definitely get the scare he is looking for at a place like Castle of Chaos. I was hoping that he would be so scared he would not want to go to any haunted houses anymore but actually both of us had a great time at Castle of Chaos! When we were at the front of the line ready to go into the haunted house, some kind of zombie doctor w/ a big bloody machete of some kind (and he looked like he would be in a movie like Hellraiser) came out from inside to bring US INSIDE!!! I am not going to lie.. it did take a bit a dragging to bring me down the long hallway to the dead soldiers at the end of it..waiting for us..and this was just the beginning. There was already a group there at the end of hallway waiting with the dead solider men and we were to wait next to them quietly. When I say quiet I mean quiet. If you said anything, you got yelled at by these dead men and they eventually take you through the doorway to go through this haunted house by yourself (with your group) where there are all kinds of creatures waiting for us! When the first group went in, all I heard was screaming like they were being murdered. I did not want to go in. I feel bad now that I was basically in my fiances back the whole time so he could lead the way and I could stay where I thought it was safe behind him. It was not safe. There were things that followed us. You even at one point get trapped. We did not even realize it and we ended up RUNNING in circles. I say running because there were things trapped in there with us following us around so we had to RUN! When we eventually found our way, I realized we were going to make it out of this alive! The group that was in front of us, almost did not make it out alive. They signed a waiver that allowed the monsters/creatures to touch them and one guy looked like he was going to cry when they were in his personal space and up in his face. Their whole group was basically crying. Even they made it out alive though so do not worry! We all basically ran out of the haunted house but shockingly I actually had a great time! I would not mind if he wanted to go back but I certainly do not want to go in a higher level. Ill stick my lower levels. Even at the lower levels my fiance had a great time! October is here so check out Castle of Chaos!!!!

After the excellent work of prior years, this years haunt was a real disappointment, and the only positive thing I have to say about it was that the cast did a fantastic job with what they had to work with. First, the opening date was pushed back. Not a big deal, but it still made it inconvenient for those of us already in the swing of the Haunt Season, and who had been planning on making it one of our first stops. Second, the parking is a joke. I understand that Castle has little control over that, and some extra forethought needs to be taken when arriving to find suitable parking. Third, the VIP wait line *felt* just as long as the regular line. We were told, in line, that they take 5 VIP groups to every 1 regular. Next, the security measures. No other Haunt that Ive been to this year required anyone to leave their purses/bags behind and to turn out our pockets. Id accept the excuse that its to keep the cast safe, except that none of the other haunts--even the extreme hands-on places, like Asylum 49--required us to turn out our pockets, submit to a metal detector wanding or leave our bags/purses behind. Also, the level 4 "Hands-on Extreme" or whatever its being called this year was nothing extraordinary. I did the "Light Touch" last year and I couldnt tell the difference between the two levels. Finally, the layout of the place felt cheap and quickly dashed together. There was no ambiance, and for the price of admission, the experience should last longer than it did. We were told it would take about 25 minutes to get through--we were done in 15, walking slowly. I sincerely hope that, as they settle in their new location, theyll learn how to utilize the space better, and put together a haunt worthy of their prior years excellence.

So heres the thing... I dont scare easy, if at all. I have lived in real haunted houses, so its hard to intimidate me. This place was creative and decent as far as scaring goes. The actors were actually pretty consistent and good at their character. They had people following you throughout the house, whisper your name in your ear when you least expect it, stick to accents, and will show you cleverly without breaking character where the exit is if you cant figure it out. Oh, and probably the most effective idea was the light system they use to keep people from catching up to other groups. I only ran into one group, but I was quickly separated again and happy to be on my own :) But they exceeded my expectations by far when it came to the physical contact. The adrenaline was perfect for the physical contact, any may have renewed my faith in haunted houses. I have to say that was my absolute favorite haunted house this year (even Fear Factory sucked) - and I went on a THURSDAY NIGHT! This is what made it so amazing: I got bags thrown over my head, dragged off into rooms, snakes thrown around my neck and lap, cockroaches in my hand, shoved against walls every which way, stuck into electric chairs.. it was fun! I hope it wasnt just me they showed this awesome time to. I was thoroughly entertained. Perfect option for those of you who dont scare easy, because you WILL be entertained!

They moved to a new location. The space is smaller, the decorations is worse (looks like it was done by middle school kids), the actors are bad, and they push so many people through so quickly that we just stood there and waited for people to move half the time. There was no elements of surprise because it was such a small space, the path is so narrow and you can see everything ahead. And again, people are just right in front and behind you. It was like a zoo. This is just a waste of money and time. Waiting about 15 minutes in line before we started walking through the haunted house (and we had VIP no wait passes), about 15 minutes to walk through but 5 minutes of it was just waiting for people to move. I got a discount from living social but still, I want my money back. Hands down the worst haunted house I have been to. This is just a disaster compared to last year. PS: You know those two 5 stars review are people who have incentives to write a positive review. They didnt even spend the time writing a convincing one. Some of them (James) even lists himself as an employee at the Castle of Chaos in his Google+ profile.
