I took my five-year-old son to the childrens theater performance at Hale Theatre in Gilbert, AZ today. The play was (loosely) based on Hans Christian Andersens "The Little Mermaid". This was my sons first exposure to the arts, and it was a delightful experience. We attended with friends and their three-year-old daughter. I would recommend the childrens performances for children aged three and up. The childrens theater performances are on Saturday mornings at 11:00am. Tickets can be purchased online for $13 per adult and $11 per child (plus a handling fee). The theater is small and the stage is on the ground floor. All of the seats are excellent, even for small children, although I wouldnt go much above the 5th row for a child. The children are able to walk on the stage before the performance and during intermission to experience the lights and setting. The play lasted 90 minutes with a 10 minute intermission. Snacks are available for purchase. The musical performance was simple, colorful and engaging. The audience members are encouraged to participate several times during the performance. There is plenty of adult humor, and I enjoyed watching it with my son. Children who are celebrating birthdays are invited to come down to the stage during the first scene to be sung to and to receive a lollipop. After the performance, the actors join the audience members in the lobby for photos and autographs. My son was timid, but other children were thrilled to have their photo taken with the mermaids and the sea witch!

My review of: Hale Theatre in Gilbert. This small theatre packs a punch that leaves you breathless and feeling enchanted. You feel right as if you are a part of the show. Wall panels are changed out and painted to reflect the current production being performed. I saw the Little Mermaid the musical. Children were welcome to attend in costume. I saw more than one mermaid in the audience. A close up meet and greet with the cast follows afterwards in the lobby. Gigantic chocolate chip cookies can be purchased before and after the show.

An excellent way to spend the evening. Hale Theatre creates highly entertaining productions that are a steal for the price. The unique "theater in the round" design is incredibly immersive and you really feel like your in the show. The actors do great jobs and are highly engaging and the staff is all very friendly. Dinner is only a short walk away at any of Gilberts great restaurants (Pomo Pizzeria being a personal favorite.) If your looking for a date location to impress, this is the place to go.

We saw Aida on closing night (July 1st). Weve been coming there for years, and it was FANTASTIC!! The best performance Ive seen there to date. The cast was amazing, the story-line was powerful and the musical numbers were beautiful and breathtaking! You could tell the production was well thought out, the casting was perfect, and their performance was flawless. Even my teenage daughter cried and said that was probably her favorite play so far. Thank you for another wonderful night!

We had a fabulous time seeing "A Christmas Carol" at a 5pm showing! The play was magnificent and I plan to go see it next year with just my husband. I was nervous taking a total of 15 children ages 8 to 12 with 5 adult chaperones to this play. However, I wanted to expose these girls to the arts. It turned out wonderfully! Hale theater was very accommodating to our large young group! Hale Theater’s customer service was superb!

I wanted to give a gift of the arts but this theatre seems to be against children under five. So as a family you are not able to attend. This is a christmas classic that children would enjoy. Too bad the head honchos dont seem to think so. They dont even let you know on their website. Good thing I called before having bought the tickets and them not being able to attned. Disappointing.

Ive been to the Hale Theatre twice now. It is a small, quaint venue that produces good quality productions. There is not a bad seat in the house; because it is a small venue all the seats have a very good view. The location is very close to quality restaurants in this area making it easy to have dinner and a play without moving your vehicle.

The wife and I go several times a year. Rarely disappointed. This is a tradition of ours. If youve never been to a "theater in the round" performance, its is fun and unique to be so close to the actors. Location with great dining options all around. Downtown Gilbert is growing and becoming quite hipster. That part kind of sucks.

My family has been to the Hale Theater at least 5 times now! The atmosphere is so nice. The acting and singing superb! We have brought our 2 granddaughters to a few of the productions and they have just loved them! I would highly recommend the Hale Theater to anyone who wanted a nice evening out with the best entertainment!

If you havent been to the Hale, you need to go. As I read about local theaters closing, I worry about the outstanding service this theater provides. Excellent musicals and comedy. To Kill a Mockingbird was outstanding. Its a bargain! Try to attend a few shows, we dont want them closing down.

Graceful, small town, friendly, professional entertainment. Excellent prices and flexible services for season ticket holders. All possible confusion removed from choices in seating arrangements - purchasing greatly simplified. Customer satisfaction apparently high.

Enjoyed a wonderful evening performance of A Christmas Carol. The lobby set the scene with festive appointments, the actors and production first-class, and we were even sent off with a hand shake from Scrooge himself and a gentle snowfall. A great Christmas memory!

Outstanding performances! Im always amazed at the talent on stage and how creatively the Hale uses its performance space. Further, this is an outstanding venue for value and quality shows. No wonder the seats sell out and the place is full at every performance.

This is a great little theater that always has something going on! Its within walking distance to many restaurants in downtown Gilbert that adds to its benefits. The actors I believe are mostly local and seating is intimate so theres not a bad seat in the venue.

Been here once with an invite from my co-worker who have a family that works there. What a nice venue and the show we watch was call "Sounds of Music". Its a 360 view stage and you can get up, close and personal to the actors. Will definitely be back.

My family and I have seen dozens of shows here. There is not a bad seat in the house. Well worth the small price for admission. If you like musicals, check this place out. There are many places to eat before the show within easy walking distance.

We just saw our third show recently. All thoroughly well performed & most entertaining. Just imagine live theater in your living room. In our first show I had to pull my legs back to allow for actor flow. Its upclose like a night club.

Always great shows by an enthusiastic group of actors, singers and dancers. Theater in the round makes all seating excellent. Very senior friendly. Make sure you patronize the local restaurants to complete a very enjoyable day.

Comfortable and convenient seating--makes you feel a little more involved in the show. We saw west side story and for the most part enjoyed the acting. Singing talent was great and inspiring. Hoping to go back again soon.
