I am new to San Marcos and a movie fanatic. Going to the movies for me is a time to relax and enjoy films I been eager to see. My first experience with this theater was during the summer and I wasnt pleased because the theater reaked of mildew. I decided to give the benefit of the doubt because the flood that hit San Marcos was a week prior and I assumed that was the reason. Just yesterday I decided to return to the theater and see The Visit. Now while the theater wasnt superficially dirty the carpet still smells of a strong mildew scent. I dont understand why the owner doesnt feel the cost of getting the carpet clean isnt worth it. Now others might deal with the smell but I definitely will be driving the 30 miles to Austin for another theater. And I suggest you do the same unless you dont mind watching the movie with a car freshener around your nose. And I hate being harsh but I refuse to believe the owners dont smell their place of business.

Went there last week 6/17/17, to see the Mummy. We ordered a burger and fries. My husband (Joe) proceeded to put ketchup on his fries. It came out watery, like see through watery and it made the fries soggy. I (yVonne)told someone at the counter so they sent someone to check it out. They moved the pump around in the dispenser and it still came out watery, they didnt replace it. We asked for packages of ketchup, they had none. They never offered to remake the fries. The staff seemed to get startled if you spoke to them. I know we wont be going back. Poor customer service. I had to give it a one star in order to post.

I would describe Starplex are a very typical movie theater. Tickets are affordable, and concessions are always going to cost a little bit more than you wanted to pay. Of course, in addition to candy and soda, Starplex offers several beer options. Overall its a good movie experience for both the family and college kid crowd. The movie screens are enormous, the projection is sharp, the staff is friendly, and the quality of the facility is top notch. This is a fine place to catch a movie.

I love the Starplex! They updated the inside several years ago and its nice. They serve alcohol and regular theatre snacks. They have electronic payment screens inside to help cut down lines when its busy. I like that there is no assigned seating. The staff is excellent, and I have never had a negative experience there. My favorite thing about this theatre is that once the hype of a move dies down, you can go see a movie with few people in the theatre.

The theater itself was great! The prices are VERY reasonable and service is not bad! However on this last trip there was someone sitting behind me with her feet on my seat! Normally its not a big deal, however she was pulling my hair and her feet smelled like I dont know rotten, sour dirty laundry! How or why she didnt know was beyond me! I almost vomited, I would have made sure to turn around and share the stank!!

There is an unpleasant smell in all the individual viewing rooms and Ive been in many of them - seen 30 movies so far this year in this theater. AND NOW - beer and wine to add to the noxious smells from the seats and floor. Too cheap to provide paper hand towels and the hand dryers are weak. Creekside (same owner) in New Braunfels is newer and much more pleasant - hand dryers are a little more powerful.

Ive been to this theater a few times and it is not the most upscale theater, but the ticket prices are usually cheaper than most other theaters and they show all the latest releases. The seats are not the most comfortable, but they are fine. The drinks and popcorn are not very good however. The last drink I purchased tasted moldy and the popcorn was cold and "wet".

The staff isnt nice and the lady at the concession stand charged me double for candy when I was trying to return one and not buy another so now I need to call and try to get that refund... Movie also had low sound . It may be a cheaper way to see a movie but for a couple more dollars I prefer another theater

The staff were all friendly and helpful on my visit on July 4th, for which I give them credit. They could have been at a bbq or something. That said, theater 5 smelled like piss. I have a poor sense of smell and even I caught it; I feel for the people with functioning noses. I was 4th row up from the bar.

Awesome movie theater, for family’s and for watching movies not on release day. It’s best to go on weekdays, or on a Saturday and Sunday before 4. You’ll get the seat you want. The screens, projectors and surround are awesome quality for the price. Pretty clear and have never been given any trouble.

Theater 6 needs to be professionally inspected and disinfected. There was a strong smell of mildew, or possibly even urine. It was also a little stuffy in there, which didnt help the issue. Staff was fine, audiovisual was good. Restroom was clean. That theater smell though!

Love this place popcorn deals are pricy but well worth it all and I love how they give you trays to carry all your food and drinks also I love that they have booster seats for my kids so they can see over the people who are taller than them and restrooms are always clean

Everthing is so nice. The restroom is clean, the food is cheap but good and the employees are super nice and cool. If you are new to San Marcos, I recommend that you HAVE to come visit Starplex. If you dont believe me, you should go see for yourself.

The bathroom was filthy. There was a puddle of water on the floor of the stall I went into. Unfortunately, I didnt realize it until I was done and the cuff of my jeans leg got wet. That was disgusting. Otherwise, a nice place to watch a movie.

After the refurbishing, It is quite refreshing. Leather seats, new floors, even a drink stand in the corner. Truthfully the experience has been much better once the seats and floors no longer gave out that awful smell.

Best closest movie theater to me, if i want to see a movie right then I come here to see it. Food and drink prices are high as usual for a theater but movie quality, the sound quality, and seats are all good.

Your Typical Movie Theatre. Relaxed, Usually pretty clean, and its always got the Top movies on 2+ screens. Also Has a Small Selection of Draft beers. Food is Alittle pricey. Better to eat before or after.

I only wanted two tickets and I ordered them online and they charged me $22 when it was supposed to be $11.50 and now they wont pick up their phone! What kind of rubish is this!?

Id give it 4 stars if the weak ass margaritas wouldnt of made my gut upset. Nothing but sweeter and ice not worth the penny in my ash tray. But the movie Logan was good.

One of the worst theaters Ive ever been to. Nothing they could change would make me go back. The staff is rude they dont do anything to keep people civil in the movies.
