I really wanted to like this motel. I like to support independent, local businesses, which this seemed to be. Ive actually never posted a hotel review anywhere and I hated giving this one a negative review. The motel was charming (from the outside), quiet and within walking distance of the Ark Encounter which was a plus. Thats where the positive experience ends. The room rate was $10 more than a Holiday Inn Express we stayed at the night before, a much larger, newer and more luxurious room. This room was a huge disappointment. First, I reserved and paid online for two queen beds. We instead were provided a room with two standard doubles for a party of 3. They could not move us since the motel was full. We stayed because we were tired and it was too late to find other accomodations. My wife and I havent slept together in a standard double since our first apartment. We were skinnier then. Next, the room smelled strong and very strange with faint urine undertones, as though something was sprayed to cover up a cat pee smell. Third, there was a platter-sized puddle on the bathroom floor that had crossed the threshold and wet the carpet. We mopped it up with a spare washcloth and the puddle was back within 20 minutes. The night clerk provided a pile of towels for the night to keep the puddle at bay. On close inspection, the base of the toilet was leaking (possibly where the urine smells were coming from). Then lots of other missing things that are standard in most hotels of even the most basic amenities. There were no suitcase stands, you had to access luggage from the floor; no table or desk, no chair, no clothes hanger bar, no bureau with drawers, no microwave, nothing but a TV stand, fridge, tiny end table between beds, and a crate with a coffee maker, towels and washcloths next to the sink. Bathroom was tiny with a ventilator fan so loud it sounded like a jackhammer. The final insult was a somewhat defensive young lady who checked us out and offered no apology, only a sarcastic "anything else?" when I recounted the problems. She provided only a $20 discount when I requested they adjust the bill (the night clerk suggested I ask for adjustments). Disgusted I said no more, got my receipt and left. I will say that I do NOT believe this to be their room standards. They would be out of business if it was, but this is a highly competitive business, they cant afford to make mistakes like this. If you want to try this hotel, go with a back up plan and check in early enough to make a switch if necessary. With a brand new, fabulous, nearby attraction like the Ark Encounter, I can guarantee their competition is going to get a lot stiffer. I post this review in hopes that they make positive changes and become more competitive or they wont survive.

This inn will make you feel like you "shop/buy local" when you stay here ...with added perks. Angela, 2nd shift, is the best front desk clerk I have ever encountered. She will make you feel right at home and make sure you have everything you need. Dont hesitate to ask her for anything (extra sheet, different pillow, more trash can liners...) The inn lobby has free cookies throughout the day along with coffee, different flavored creamers, and tea. You can also purchase a few toiletries if you forgot anything (even baby wipes!) Housekeeping is amazing, too. We had an infant with us and the housekeeper let us know she was trying to be as quiet as possible in case our child was sleeping/napping. The breakfast cooks were fabulous. I had special requests and they were happy to oblige every time (we stayed 3 nights here). If you want a different experience than your run-of-the-mill hotel/motel - check this place out! P.S. if your going to the Ark Encounter, then you can literally walk from the inn to the parking lot where there will be a ticket counter hut and a shuttle bus ready to take you to the Ark (save you a $10 parking fee)! Note: I am asking the manager about obtaining the following for future guests, so if they havent followed through yet, then be sure to bring an extension cord (so you can have an outlet by the bedside), an alarm clock (if you dont want to look at your phone for the time), and, if applicable, a playard/crib, nightlight, and highchair/booster seat (for your child to sit at the breakfast table).

Really pretty room but 100% needs an update. Trim isnt finished near the bathroom or painted all the way, there is a tarp on the roof, we cant get the television in our room to work (also, a boxed television). Microwave is yellowed around the outside, the door has no seal to it, so you feel all the cold air from outside coming into the room. Not only that the frame around the bottom looks rotted. The door handle is loose and also the lock on the door. Carpets are hopefully just stained but look very unclean like possible theyre just dirty. Sheets and beds looked cleaned and neat, so the room has a cute theme but I didnt feel comfortable sleeping in there. Hardly comfortable walking with no socks on and I didnt. When you open the door to the bathroom the bathroom door hits the toilet and the bathroom door handle was loose. You can hear neighbors right through the wall as if there were one piece of plywood separating the two rooms. I would say the only positives were how white the sheets were, convincing me of the cleanliness. Breakfast was okay for such a small place but few hot food choices. I hardly slept, there was a noisy truck outside until 1AM and you could hear close to everything outside because there was no frame outside the door. Overall I wouldve preferred something better.

I booked there a couple months ago for July 7th, 8th, 9th. Checking out on the 10th. Requested Queen, non smoking room. Got there, they told us they didnt have a Queen, just a room with 2 double beds. We said OK. When we got to the room it smelled so bad of smoke. Told them no, so they changed us to a king bed and the cable didnt work right. Flashed the picture off and on. We changed rooms the next day, while sitting and eating our lunch the owner of the hotel came over to our room. He rented the room to another couple. The housekeeper came to our door and asked how many days we were staying. Said until the 10th at check out time. The owner had made the key for that other couple so our key wouldnt work. Had to get that changed. On the 10 th was wanting to get a shower and there was no hot water. I asked about the hot water and was told some rooms didnt have any water and no rooms had hot water. Dont stay there. It was $80.00 a night plus taxes. Felt bad for the housekeeper, she was taking care of everything, nice lady.
