You cant beat Pecan Hollow for a municipal course... But the course does hold water during the rain and you can never tell what condition it is going to be in the days following. Its no fun to drive all the way down there and find out the the conditions are Cart Path Only....or even one of the nines is unplayable. Sometimes you can call, and the pro shop is undecided. You might get a "probably" or a "maybe" during the playing day! If it is pouring rain at night, in the a.m. no one is coming down anyway. But, most of the time, our group has an early tee time. And you have to commit to playing, or not playing those first tee times, come down to the course, or risk not, and your group might be let off. The solution is for the pro shop to put a recording on the phone line the night before. That way, play is maximized, and loyal customers are saved coming down to the course at 7:30 a.m. for no reason, as the course is not in playable, or in some level of restricted play condition. So how about a recording on the pro shop phone line left each night during the rainy season? Golfers could call and hear a recording about likely conditions based on the night before at closing; a best estimate based on the condition of the course the evening prior. Something like, "If we dont have more rain overnight, it will be 90 degree cart rule in the morning." Or, "If we dont have more rain, the course will be open, but will be cart path only...." You know, who needs to get up in the dark, get ready, drive all the way down to the course, only to get there and find out it is unplayable. At least early golfers would have some information, and make the trip down to the course at their own risk. Thanks for listening... I love the course, and consider it the best course value in the Plano, McKinney, Allen, Richardson, Wylie, Murphy, Sachse, Garland area... Paul

Would have rated 3 or 4 stars but found out upon arrival that walking isnt allowed until after noon? Only reason given at the pro shop is that its "city policy." Just what they need to ruin a nice MUNICIPAL course is a bunch of money hungry policy makers. To top that off they dont have the stones to put the policy on the website or advise the callers when a tee time is made. Have played 3 times in the last 8 months and this has to be the worst golf course for cramming as many groups as they can take money from. Every par 3 starting with hole #2 had 3 groups backed up. Along with that they allow fivesomes on weekends! Again, more $$$. Had the 11:01 tee time today 1/26. Finally make the turn after a 2.5 hour front 9 and one of our players cant even get a hot dog without waiting. So much for that $$ in the register. Official time for us was 4 hours 52 minutes. On a positive note the cart girl was great. Brought a sandwich out to one of our players and was readily available. Marshals were friendly and doing their best to keep the peace. Too bad that a course with much promise after being a pasture before the renovation just lost 3 customers after today. Too many good municipal courses nearby to put up with this. The other guy wont walk so hell probably go back and suffer.

Redoing my review since they renumbered the holes and the pace has really improved. Last couple times i played is down to a reslectable 4-4.5 hrs. Great course for the money. No walking before noon. Only down side is (and nothing Pecan Hollow can do about this) is the gophers who think they are tour players playing form the tips. 90% of amature players are double digit handicaps and should be playing from the whites. Check your egos people and play from the whites no one will think any less of you.

For a muni, Pecan Hollow is great! The 5 sets of tees make it so that a golfer of any ability can give themselves a challenge. The course is well maintained and the practice facilities are great. I got back into golf after a long layoff and did the 3 lesson deal with the head pro Gary Dennis, and this was a great experience. If you need lessons thats the best deal going. Gary is a great guy who will get to know you over the course of the 3 lessons and help you improve.

Pecan Hollow is my home course and I honestly dont have anything bad to say about it. Course is always in nice shape. Its not too challenging. I wouldnt say that its ever "crowded", but even when busy, they always have at least two course marshals that do a great job at keeping up the pace of play. They also have a cart girl even on weekdays, which is not something Ive found to be the case at every city course.

Great prices for twilight games. This is NOT a hard course by any means but very nice nonetheless. Everyone that I met that worked here was very nice and helpful. The facilities were nice as well and plenty of water stations to refill at.

This course is one of the best municipal courses in the Dallas area. Located in Plano it has some of the best fairways and greens of any course in the metroplex. Plus it has a nice layout and the golf shop personnel are terrific.

What difference some rain will make. I played here three weeks ago and the fairways and greens were in bad shape, but today a different story. Course is in great condition, has shade, and nice wide fairways.

Pecan Hollow has awesome staff. They are always friendly, professional and accommodating. The course and facilities are in great shape. This is hands down the best value for money golf in the metroplex.

Its not that hard of a golf course, not easy either. The fairway is narrow so youll have to sum down the fairway to keep it in play. Fun and challenging course.

course in fantastic shape, play is usually on the slow side, but doubt you can find a better course at this price range, $33 after 12pm on weekends is a steal

Nice course but nothing special. Basically your standard muni course. Expect 6 hour rounds on weekends

Some of the best greens around. They are a little too proud of the long grass off the fairways.
