***Update 4/8/17**** After playing Sherrill Park on Thursday and Pecan Hollow yesterday, I am ready to proclaim the new greens at Sherrill as a GRADE A FAILURE....these were supposed to be the EXACT same type of greens as Pecan Hollow....they couldnt be more different!!! Pecan Hollows are perfect.....smooth, fast, and true. 2+ years is enough time to have seen something, but nope.....same old bumpy, grainy, splotchy, sandy greens as always....blows my mind how anyone could give the course a high rating unless they have absolutely nothing to compare it to. ***SEE 2/7/17 UPDATE BELOW ORIGINAL 5/21/13 POST*** 5/21/13 Moved to the neighborhood bordering course 4 years ago....have played the course only ONCE which was not my initial dream. Simply the WORST greens in the DFW area....without naming names, someone (initials RG) is getting rich, and not putting ONE PENNY back into the course. The City Of Richardson should be embarrassed for letting this happen!!! 5/14/16 Just got back from walking course #1 and I took time to roll a ball on #5 and #6....THEY SHUT DOWN THE COURSE FOR THIS BS????? The new greens were suppose to be identical to that of Pecan Hollow.....hahahahahahaha.....hahahahaha. I realize that you have to give them time to mature, but these will NEVER be like Pecan Hollow!!! Same old "Surface of the moon" greens with grass so long that you can see the occasional crab grass poke through. Does the city of Richardson have ANY control over the condition of this course, or do they simply endorse RGs blank checks year after year. I cannot understand who these people are on here that talk about this course being great.....have they ever played anywhere else??? What a joke!!! 2/7/17 $5 now for a small bucket of balls? And I mean small! $2 increase in one jump.....WoW....really? Large bucket is NINE dollars! This is a city course, correct?

Course 1 is a great course but Im not a fan of course 2 at all. Course 1 is harder but is so much more scenic and has a more professional feel while 2 has a scrappy muni feel to it. I read the other reviews here and would say Ive never had any problems with the staff in the pro shop. As for the greens, theyre usually extremely good. Early 14 they were fighting with some frost damage they had during the winter but every course fights those kinds of issues now and again. As for the person complaining about the greens being punched and sanded.. yeah.. thats why you got on so easily.. and all courses punch their greens at some point, its a necessary evil. I do think the guys in the pro shop should have warned you if they didnt, but you could have gone back to the pro shop and asked for a refund at the start of your round and Im sure they would have obliged. The only really negative experience I ever had there was somewhat my own fault as I snuck some 12Oz brewskies out on the course in my bag and after finishing my round I took my beer into the club house and sat down to discuss the round with my buddies. Was surprised when a guy who worked there came over and snagged my beer off the table in front of me and told me I wasnt allowed to bring outside beer onto the course... I didnt realize (until then) that they only sold 16 Oz beers there and mine was a smoking gun 12 Ozer. Doh! It made me mad, but to be fair, thats life... just the 1st time Ive ever had someone take my beer away from me. Sniff sniff. ;-) Anyway, Sherrills a great course and a good score on course 1 is something to be proud of. Cheers! PS: Back 9 of Course1 is one of the most beautiful of any course in the metroplex, and Ive played every public course in the DFW area that wasnt more than a 50 minute drive from the mid-cities. Course 1 at Sherrill is a personal favorite.

I played this past Sunday at Sherrill Park. The rate charged was $58 to play at 11:00. Before going on my rant I want to say, I have played Sherrill Park more than 20 times. I love this course, its in my home city, its convenient, and staff is friendly. I feel like I was robbed on Sunday. Why these guys feel its necessary to charge $58 when your greens are in that bad of shape is mind blowing. Its basically robbing someone. You cant get a true putt for anything because of the dirt, dead grass, and bumps on these greens. They just had this course re-done. I cant imagine what its going to look like in the summer time while the Texas heat beats on these greens for a few weeks. These greens also have seams that run down them which if youre putting a ball across it, the seam grabs the ball and you have a zero percent chance of making anything. I was highly disappointed with the shape of this course when paying $58. I will be taking my business to Firewheel this summer. Hope they figure the greens out and get realistic on the pricing.

Played there yesterday on Memorial day. This was the third time Ive played there and everytime the staff is very rude. When I got there I simply said my tee time and that I booked it on Golfnow. The guy immediately got defensive and said he didnt have to take reservations from golfnow since it was a holiday and told me to call them for a refund. Then the other guys behind the counter looked at me shaking their heads like I was in the wrong for booking it online lol. Up to this point the only words out of my mouth were my tee time and where I booked it, yet they were very accusatory and telling me how golfnow is messed up? I told him I didnt pay online so I dont need any refund I just want to play. So he then says well what do you want to do? lol, I thought I just told him that. Also this guy didnt even have enough nerve to look me in the eyes the whole time, just looked down while talking. Ended up playing and the greens etc were horrible. I suggest stay away from this dump

I do agree that both courses 1 and 2 are fun tracks. I played a month ago and it was beautiful. Greens were nice, fairways perfect. I was very impressed. Yesterday (April 2nd, 2016) I played again, course 1. But this time, it was a completely different course. The fairways were scalped, hard and dry. Tee boxes were not in good shape. And dont even get me started on the greens. They must have been punched a while back, but the are not growing in like they should be. As a result, a lot of my great shots hit the green and rolled off. And putting was near impossible to read due to the concreate like greens. I sure hope the greens keeper knows what he is doing. Please check the sprinklers to make sure they are working! No wonder they knocked $10 off my usual green fee. As for the staff, I found them to be very friendly and helpful. (I did see negative comments about the pro shop guys, but that must have been taken care of. ;-) )
