Dont wast your money. Charged $75 for our group of 12--no breaks. Greens are diabolical--hard for touring pros who find a Stimp reading of 13 on a flat surface as a challenge but put that on their entire field of multiple contoured domed greens and its diabolical. Each green has a significant rise in front--hit short and ball is short, hit the green (wont hold) and it may roll even 20 ft off the green (bad planning)--and there is no practice green--18 greens were already installed, why not a 19th green for practicing ( bad planning). No practice range for warming up--and its needed. They talk about heather rough on this links course. They apparently never saw heather. The rough (maybe 10 ft off the fairway) is thick weeds knee to waist high of spiny thistle, dense tall clover, and other weeds. No way of finding a ball. Im no longer a 9 handicap but not bad. First hole was a ball that trickled off the fairway but was never found---on in 3 and 4 putts. That was the way golf is played here. Had to try it but be aware.

As described in an earlier review, course is new and needs some filling in but in 2 or 3 years it should be very nice. Good layout and greens were very fast and true. Didnt hold great but that can be expected on new greens. A few of us wanted to replay 18 holes but were disappointed in the replay price of $36.00 (we were playing thru a package price with the parent course, Gull Lake GC). There were very few people on the course for a Saturday PM. We ended playing Stonehenge North (another one of their courses for $18.00). I guess they still made money off us while keeping traffic down on Stoatin to let it grow. Views are pretty scenic. Will play again.

Sure its a new course but the greens are a joke. Domed, hard and fast. In a few years they will still be domed, hard and fast. It slows play. Ate at the main restaurant. Sat down an hour and 15 minutes before tee tee time. Ordered a sandwich an hour before tee time. Waited a half hour before food arrived. Wanted to pay my bill. The bartender disappeared for 10 minutes. Barely got to the tee on time. Will never golf there again.

Played last week. Or attempted it. Fairways have zero landing spots, for long hitters. Greens are bottle capped, mix of greens base seems to have left them extremely hard and compacted. Stimp readings are off the charts. I can understand why the card has no slope ratings. The layout is the only reason for a second star. Jon B Beasley

Was blown away. Yes the course has to mature, but when it does, I believe it will be a top 5 Michigan course. Also as cooler and ball washer on carts, halfway snack shop called Bunkers built into a hill. Best par 3s and even seen a baby coyote chilling on the green I was on.

An excellent new venue with fast greens and deep rough. If you enjoy a true links course where the wind is always whipping, you will enjoy Stoatin. The bunker grill house at 9 is really cool, but only offers simple meal items and beer refills.

Beautiful layout but the greens are unplayable and they will not get get any better..
